  1. Lots of Marines and soldiers might disagree. 6.8 was and still is a popular chamber, lots of talk about it becoming the "standard" for US forces in the future. I looked up how many options there are even without going up to the larger AR10, and the number of chambering is amazing, and folks are still coming up with them, everything from .22 LR to .50 Beauwolf. The AR is just a mechanical platform and has proven to be pretty good at lots of things, very few if any is it the absolute best for but sure works for a lot of things, but then again so do a lot of others. I kind of like mine, might not my favorite depending on what I was wanting to do, but I still like it.
  2. There was a "swarm" on a picnic table at one of the parks the other day. Used to kow some folks who wuld come and collect them but don't anymore. I always though bees were cool but never will have the knowledge or skill to raise them. Besides I am not really that fond of honey, don't dislike it but other than occasionally in tea I never think about it.
  3. My AR is black, but so is my Rem 700 and a few others. As it stands now it is perfectly legal for me to own and shoot as long as I don't break any laws. I have shot a couple deer with mine and a lot of targets etc.
  4. Neither did a single one of those rifles at the demonstration, oddly enough.
  5. Fausti wasn't there, Kim Jong not there, see the connection, same guy!
  6. Hmm, i guess rhe same reason anyone want to dress up like a giant vagina and March around in protest.
  7. They were merely making their feeling about government over reach known, whether or not we agree, and they did it in a peaceful non violent way. Can't say I necessarily support how they protest, but like NFL players kneeding i fully support their right to do so as long as they are peaceful, reapectful and don't start stopping traffic or threatening people. Otherwise much like the NFL players I think they just make them selves and others look bad. And sometimes it IS all about perception. As for suing China maybe we can get some coupons for free Chinese buffets but I aint gonna hold my breath for that either.
  8. I think that if Bill Gates is behind the whole COVID 19 thing then we will be able to simply download a new virus protection update, plug into a port in our finger and bada bing bada boom, good for another year. Wait I am on the wrong thread, sorry.
  9. My SIL was laid off during this, but will be doing OK with the benefits and is able to stay with grandson and daughter still works. Son is working part time still and just plugging along not getting nearly as much as if he had opted to be laid off and take the benefits. But he is pretty low maintenance, little food, a little gas, and he is fine. no clue where he gets that from.
  10. I think mine is a BRonco as well, and yeah well named. When younger I decided I could force it to do what I wanted through pure strength and cussedness, I did accomplish it jumping sideways enough a few times to eat some plants. It does a good job when I am patient, sadly I am NOT known for patience. LOL
  11. Maybe, it it means that jap beetles all exode into bits of bug guts then yes I am xenophobic. 😃
  12. Wire, small diameter rope, electrical tape, good wire cutters. Hatchet and first aid kit with several little things in it. TP is a must
  13. I spent a lot of years with a garden tiller and have a rocky old garden, fixing it back up and welding on it etc. What I found I had to do was throttle it down and not hold it nearly so tightly, kind of let it kick up a little bit or it would beat you to death when it hits a rock. Now the tractor mounted roto tiller, heck I just love tilling up gardens with it.
  14. I for one hope that the one silver lining in COVID 19 is that it wioes japanese beetles from the face of the earth. Last year wasn't nearly as bad but for a couple of years they really hammered my orchard and everything else. I still have plenty of Malthion left for them. Also some grub killer I will uae. I absolutely hare them things.
  15. Hey I like turnips, plant some every year, have tried them in food plots but deer have never bothered th2m, but they will sure bother the winter wheat and oats. Usually by time late season rolls around I have cut my wife off from shooting deer. I am not sure I have ever eaten a rutabaga but haven't found many root veggies I don't like including parsnips I love parsnips, sautéed in a skillet with butter, mixed with carrots or roasred in a pan with other veggies.
  16. FYI if you want to crappie fish that shoreline to the left of those fishing docks by the dam is pure money. All the way back to that little notch. There will be tons of folks on the dock but few on the shoreline and it's a shorter walk. Have caught a LOT of crappie there and little white bass as well. Feed thm a crappie jig in your favorite color 1/132 or 1/16 if yu prefer and bring a bucket. Can even twitch them under a little bobber and do well. Wish I could meet you there and I would carry bucket for ya, but carrying and walking g along shoreline is out for me right now.

    What's Cooking?

Doggone it sir that looks good!
  18. ATV has never bitten me, kicked m, nor has it ever gotten out. I like my transportation to drink gasoline or diesel fuel.
  19. You still fish back in Sleepy Hollow. It will be a mud hole if it rains. But lots of bank space with crappie moving in.
  20. When I started working at BPS in xolege I got to know Charlie just a little bit and old Jack Emmit who managed the Fishing a little bit. Me and another guy who knew nothing about it were talking about going to Taneycomo trout fishing, Charlie happened to be there. He promptly stopped and explained where to go, hiw ro get there, what to use and some tips on being safe as we had a very small boat. Super super nice guy and we hammered the trout, was my first time trout fishing ever.
  21. LOL I have a buddy that like to come to MO and Crappie fish, he could pick ANY dates well in advice and end up emck in the middle of a 4 day cold front. Statistically he should get a good one occasionally. Kind of how we are rolling here this morning, not raining yet so just enjoying a cool morning. If I ever build another house I will have either a wrap around porch or what we used to call a dog trot just for that. But the porch I have and some other buildings work too. Happen to be setting in the coveres drive thru between the two sides of an old grainery while Zuri Dog waits for her kitties to come out to play with her.
  22. I need to do same for the little car, thanks!
  23. LOL I am down to only one freezer, about 15 CF, 5he other one died last year, haven't replaced it. Don't have to have 2 for space but when one goes out it sure is better to move rearrange stuff into one than make a speed 100 mile round trip to get another one. I was keeping an eye out for another used one but have put that on hold for now unt I can wrestle one around again and get my son up to do the heavy wrestling for me. Which helps will with even a suggestion, just gotta get back to haunting Craigs list for one.
  24. I am not getting that good due to having to go to Dr. Appts, but sure am enjoying filling up more right now. I even can drive my truck around and not feel so bad, which is good as my little car is a standard which is a no go right now for me. Wife's car does better than the truck but not quite as good as her old (mine now) car.
  25. Seems like it would be a big shocker if anywhere remotely true. Like any conspiracy theory there are lily some nuggets of truth. I wouldn't be surprised to know that Bill Gates foundation has some ownership of a corona virus vacine, but since COVID 19, as far as we know didn't exit then it would be more of a way to help ensure availability and distribution of a possible vaccine. Finan cz ial support to the Wyman lab, might be more weird but if the lab accepts outside financial support for research and development of what is expected to be some of the more severe viruses of the future then I could certainly see the Gates Foundation throwing a few million toward it. I don't see him doing it as a monetary gain, good grief the man has more money than he can ever figure out what to do with and his foundation does a lot of great work, it certainly is no Clinton Foundation but then again most arent. I am gonna, for now fall on the side of Bill Gates and his foundation is one of the "good guys" for many things.
