  1. I am glad so many are like Wrench and don't fly, makes it easier for me to get through security and less crowded planes. Besides I like to people watch in airports, carry on nothing more than a back pack with a book or something. Even when luggage is lost I like to be the last guy in line at the lost luggage dept. Poor person there has the worst job in the airport, getting yelled at for something they had nothing to do with but are going out of their way to fix. Once they fed ex ed some dirty laundry from KC two hours south the next day, another they really wanted to give me some vouchers to go buy some clothes because it would be after midnight when they sent it to my hotel by taxi. Actually I thin Wrench would be a blast as the lost luggage counter person, as long as its all on video.
  2. STOP IT. I am having a frozen pizza for supper and just the thought of a 2 inch steak on a hot grill cooked to a good rare/medium rare is killing me.
  3. Nah, open up a shop that specializes in putting new engines in the "old" trucks, then guys like me can afford a truck. Do they make 2 stroke truck engines?
  4. Me too, although sometimes, beer, dogs or grandson distract me. Plus one in my household think my perfect steak is only half cooked, I have converted my wife but after almost 86 years I don't think mom is gonna change.
  5. Wow, what a critter.

    What's Cooking?

Since Thanksgiving was a bust for us, we are having a partial second chance. Two pans of homemade dressing, one is my wife's grandmother's recipe (sausage, sage mushrooms), the second small pan is basically the same but with oysters at my request. Basic cucumber and tomatoes salad with some kind of funky looking lettuce stuff. Chicken thighs pan fried and my home made cinnamon rolls, which got a bit over raised. Dressing on top cinnamon rolls on the bottom. And of course I was wrong on the chicken, the thighs are getting g seared in the skillet then going into sauce with about a metrich tone of mushrooms. I can live with that.
  8. Musky are a unique fish, however they and I are NOT friends. Some day i will land a legal sized fish and find out if they are edible. A tiny bit of payback for lost lures.
  9. I also hate the auto lock/unlock. I pulled up in front of the house today to go through the process of unloading my mom, requires a footstool. The daNG passenger door was still locked because I had left it running, happens to me often. Seems unsafe to me that it would automatically unlock both doors, when I put it in park, shut off engine and open drivers door. Truthfully I believe I have seen the option to disable the entire auto lock feature, too bad I can't disable that annoying dIngersoll that says I don't have my seat belt on, annoys the crap out of me when launching retrieving at the ramp.

    What's Cooking?

i love bulgogi. Tonight I am having a modified ham and beans. My wife started them this morning, nice pot of beans flavored with some ham scraps. Well I am a feller who like fatty chunks of hog hide etc. in mine so a quick trip to the little store in town scored 3 smoked hocks which promptly went into the pot for Al all day cook. I also mike my beans to be more cooked down so that the Bens start to bark down and become part of the broth. Since I was in charge of it I made sure to stir it often so I get to have it my way. Gonna pair it with some garlic/cheddar biscuits (frozen ones as I didn't get around to making them) and a nice recent vintage lemonade, maybe a big scoop of cottage cheese on the side. Update: found some parsnips I forgot I had bought, ran a couple across the mandolin and are now sautéing in butter and various seasonings. I love parsnips.
  11. Well I can partly agree, except that the goober who are not smart enough to turn them o will end up getting other people killed, maybe me, or my wife, kids, grandson so I have zero problems with the lights being on automatically. Sadly too many folks drive in the fog, snow, heavy rain just like it was a bright clear day. I do agree about some of the lights, the ones with dedicated daytime lights are better. Soon vehicles will be detecting bright lights ahead and automatically go to low beams. My truck automatically dims the inside rear view mirror when it detects brights lights behind me, I kind of like it.

If he can get a biscuit into my pants pocket with me kowing means he needs to doing other work like picking pockets. Also means for some reason I wouldn't have eaten all my breakfast which is just silly.
  13. Some distant part of my Swiss cheese brain thinks that "case law" only applies if there is a precedent, in order for there to be a precedent set the case must be adjudicated and survive appeal. However chemo brain and the fact that I haven't slept in a Holiday Inn in a few years means I could easily be wrong.

    What's Cooking?

Ahhh, not a counter top issue, more of the wife wants new ones! That I fully understand.
  15. If it is like most things it's not a matter of less things to regulate, more of a reduction in available tools/rules to do it with. I will agree that a reduction in some regulations is a good thing if done correctly, however government driven changes are more often done with an axe, chainsaw or sledgehammer, not a more clear streamlining like we would hope for. I would trade all their so called changes for a clear definition of where a canoe or fisherman can go or not go, but that ain't gonna happen either.
  16. I don't know what all is happening there but they certainly burning up some coin as you put it.

    What's Cooking?

I have never worn out a counter top yet so I still have my home made ones. Ugly and poorly matched but still functional, much like me.
  18. Is the 750K price tag an actual number or is it I heard a feller at the bait store who a was told by the custodian at the park sort of a number. Even with a lot of background in Government requirements for contracts, engineering requirements etc. I can't see 750K there, has to be more to it, like maybe it is part of a much larger project and that is where the total cost came from.
  19. The MDC AND DNR have different authorities and often work together. I appreciate BOTH of them.
  20. Me either, I am just happy when I catch one.
  21. Putting a feather on the back sort of amused me, I have bought a few Xraps with the cute little feather on the back treble, and cut them.off with a pocket knife. I love to to ker with lures adding weight, moving the weight around, adding some bright color, making eyes bigger etc. Have fun doing it but never really noticed much difference most of the time in catching. Just haven't found the right combination that makes them fight over it yet.
  22. Hmm, me neither. Of course I never put the skirt on the front hook either, was always on the back, no real reason why I don't think.

    Plumb tasty looking sir.
  24. They were killers on farm ponds around home as well. I remember walking through sweaty chigger infested woods to get to some of them when I was a kid. Figuring nobody ever fished them, some were good, some not so much.
  25. The vinyl or when we could find them the good rubber skirts were standard fare on the old midge-o-renos back in the 70s. We put skirts on lots of lures, mostly it seemed to kill their natural wobbling action. Sort of lie putting a big ole pork rind on a Johnson Silver Minnow, it worked but the JSM action was completely lost. Don't believe I ever put one on a lazy ike,,always loved those as is.
