I was gonna say eating them was the gravy, but seemed too easy.

Always liked squirrel hunting just before a storm, or after on the first warm sunny day. Heck I like squirrel Hu ting on just about any day that doesnt involve sweat, mosquitos, or spiderwebs in the face. And eating the tree rats thats just the reward for enjoying the day.

Agreed, low voltage kills appliances and devices. Many safety devices will detect and trip for high voltage or amperage but let low happen.

I could put up a pic of my thanksgiving redoux, but still won't look like much. Gonna end up with beef and noodles tonight which I absolutely love. The hash the other night tried very had to kill me. I had picked apart a couple roasts the other night for fajitas, and saved all th bones etc. Wife cooked it all down and picked the meat off so have a wonderful rich broth and bag of meat pieces to make said beef and noodles with. Mmmmmm.

Glad it wasn't worse Phil. Fire is always a big worry for me.

Got a call from taxidermist that my wife's open in day buck was ready to pick up. Took me a couple days to be able to go get it but here it is. Pretty good buck for around here. Seems like it was an odd year here. Folks that are usually covered up in deer saw very few, my wife usually sees some but not a lot, this she saw deer every day she sat but one and made good on all of the days she did see them. They are a little spookiest now (wonder why) but am still seeing my resident doe and 2 fawns that have been spending the daylight hurt in a patch of buck brush less than 1/4 acre in size and only coming out at night now. Smart old doe, would probably have cost her one of the kids if she came out in the daylight. All are safe now I have taken away her rifle and ammo.

Question? When you didn't get to do thanksgiving and are home alone what do eat the day after thansgiving? Can of corned beef hash, topped with some sautéed baby portabella mushrooms, pace I can't sauce, and toast with lots of raspberry jam. This meal was approved by no one but it was what was available. At least the jam, mushrooms and salsa were pretry good. Shoot, can't believe I forgot the pic.

It OK FW, I had ham for you. My holiday went south and no big cook up happened but did end up eating some nice baked ham at a friend's house, I do love ham.

Love the color on that bird Chief!

Heck I just like fried livers, especially with a little cajun seasoning. Hate to waste them in the gravy.
-
Save them turkey livers for me. Either in the gravy or just on my plate.

No molted the Nosler Partitions are pure poison in .223, mine happens to also like barnes TSX. I loaned a Handi rifle in .223 to a kid from church some years back. Sat with him when he killed his first deer a fat spike at about 30 yards, he collapsed in his tracks. Over the next 3 years he used it to kill 3 more bucks, all better than anything I have killed. Handloaded the 60 grain Partitions for it. Me i go sit in my wife's stand to escape the house for a few hours and get annoyed when deer show up instead of a coyote. End up playing wolf howls etc. To get them to leave so I can leave her stand without getting busted. This year she has apparently taken the 5 "free" CWD tags as a personal challenge, and conquered it. But I m getting practiced up again in field dressing, deboning etc.

Just because everyone else show nicely composed plates I took a minute and prettied one uo before I wolfed it down. Am currently on a rest break after field dressingthe last 2. My words to my wife, "for the live of little gren apples, STOP SHOOTING DEER". Good thing I have enough seasoning to make I believe 125 lbs of summer sausage and andouille sausage. Gonna be a busy christmas period once the CWD checks come back. One of the hind quarters of the button buck is gonna get save whole and smoked for Christmas or new years. Back to work now.

Well they came out wonderfully. Unfortunately no time to enjoy because there are 2 more of he dang things hanging from my tractor. Thank goodness she says she is done. Oh also made a un through the orchard and salvaged enough Arkansas black apples to make some fried apples with dried blueberries apples craisins.

Many fall out of trees, but if report is correct, and I have no reason to believe it isn't he sent a text to his father saying h had sen a deer and was going after it. Some time later, text of accident and hurt or something close to that. Apparently he tripped, fell and firearm discharged, sadly another of the all too common themes. Gravity is always there to try to kill you, and when he and Mr. Murphy get together especially if you include a poor choice or two, well bad things happen. I believe the young man was also a hunter ed instructor or at least assisted with classes, maybe through the school, not sure. I think the count is up to 4 in Missouri now.

Since I am home with Mom today, I have some time to expirament. Pulled a couple big turnips, peeled and chunked them up. Am boiling them in a beef bRoth with sugar. Normally boil them in water and suga with a little red pepper, but haven't got much to lose but a couple turnips and I have plenty of those. Tonight have some of last year's venison loin pieces thawing, they are slated for a hot sear in a skillet, when I get them right and not over cooked they are fabulous, otherwise they are just good, we shall see. Well the turnips were dang tasty, very mild with a slight sweetness, couldn't really pick up any beef flavor (was water and beef bullion) but many years of bodily abuse and some modern chemicals have robbed me of the ability to pick up subtle flavor many times. They were good no ugh I will make the again for supper to go with the venison, assuming supper isn't delayed again as my wife is coming home from work and going down to her deer stand.

Split, brined and smoked 2 turkeys for our Church thanksgiving dinner. Put them on this morning early, smoked for 5 hrs then bagged them, terrible just terrible I tell ya. During the wait time my wife was making cranberry tart 4 hing and some pecan bars, and I got bored and decided I would make some bread, 2 loaves, one for supper and one went home with daughter and grandson. Currently awaiting my turn to go work clean up after the church dinner. Did get to take grandson for a ride to see where Nanna shot her deer at, and mulch up a few leaves, he is my buddy. No pics of anything, so maybe I only dreamed it?

One of my fishing buddy's sent me this a few hours after I turned down the chance to go fishing with him. I was too busy working up my wife's 3rd deer. I keep telling myself it's only a few more days till it's over.

Bobber types...balsa, foam, cigar, teardrop???
MOPanfisher replied to Basfis's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yep, half of crappie fishing is finding where they are, the other half is figuring out what/how they want it. May keep the same pattern for days, may not keep the same pattern all day. -
Bahhh, those are retro style and retro is now cool again.
