Yes it does, but it only goes into the river. If you prefer to camp down there to have water and a dump station I would recommend trailering your boat over to the state park to launch, they do not charge any fee to launch. You would not be on the lake, you would actually be on the river below the dam, not sure how big of a deal that is for you. I have camped in the parks and only left my boat on the shoreline once, the rest of the time I load it back up and kept it at the campsite with me. I am not a trusting person and actually have helped folks recover their boat that was on the shoreline when a store came up and the waves began breaking over the stern and down it went, not to mention whatever damage is done to the hull. having said that I see campers all the time with their boats parked on the shoreline for a week or more and no issues.

So Mitch puts out a big collection bin that the spots slide down into some sort of big soup caldron, it adds spices and other ingredients, and we can take a bowl and dip out some soup on the other end, sounds good to me.

Nemo Park will actually open with a "Limited Season" on March 15. The limited season basically means we will turn on the electricity for campsites. There will be no water. The charge will be $10 per night, no reservations during that time, strictly first come first serve, Outlet Park will also have the early "limited" season, however Outlet will have water available, and the dump station will be open there. Why you ask, because there is actual soil in the Outlet so we can bury water lines deep enough to not freeze. Regular campground opener is April 16, when reservations will be available, shower houses etc. the whole shebang. Your other choice would be the state Park or Possibly The Harbor depending on how close to the water you want to be. The number for the State Park is 417-852-4291, you can call them and see if either side will be open in march for camping.

I want to know more about the Smallmouth Mafia and their fish fry, I have never been to any SMA function, but an opportunity to fish different water, catch and eat some fish and taters at the end, what is not to like about it.

Are the worms only in the spots, or are they in the lrgemouth and smallies too?

Crappie Rod and reel recommendations

Until this year I had tied the braid directly to the jig. This year I am switching to a mono leader simply because the braid can get frayed and weak easily rubbing against stuff. And I am trying to use what I have and can usually find a high vis mono for a leader, PLine bright green, Stren Gold, or even original Stren Fluorescent. -
Any black bass on Stockton would have to be 15 inches at this point in time, correct?

Dang, I am gonna go dig through my old tackle boxes and find some.

Very sure, gogglers and I are well acquainted. This is the closest pic I could find, apparently there is no set coloration pattern for meanmouth that I could find. The jaw may have been a litter smaller on mine but the sun was going down and I didn't have much time to examine it, it was the "magic time" for walleye.
-
Unless it is big enough to fillet its unlikely I will have a pic, even if I catch another one as I leave my phone in the truck when I go there. People have a tendency to call or text me and I don't like interruptions when I am fishing. BUT if I catch a keeper I promise to Walcrabass to keep and fillet it. Assuming that the Meanmouth can reproduce (not sure as most hybrids don't reproduce or not well at least), it would be an interesting graduate study to test DNA on some electroshocked "meanmouth" to see how much of what DNA is actually in them.
-
What exactly constitutes a meanmouth. Is it a largemouth/smallmouth, largemouth/Spotted, Spotted/ Small Mouth, or are they all 3 meanmouths. Being sunfish I assume that the hybridizing across them is fairly easy and common.

The worms soak up the Cajun seasoning even better, and add protein. I am still in, eating wormy fish in the summer from creeks hasn't killed me YET.

This one is really hitting home for me, I am planning on a handgun purchase from Academy in the near future, wonder if I will need to go in by myself, what if I were to inadvertently ask my wife what she thinks, what if my 3 yr old grandson is with me in the cart, and says something like "Dat one Papaw"? I am absolutely flabbergasted by this.
-
I know and understand what a straw purchase is but cannot see how being at the same counter with your wife, who is purchasing a firearm for herself would be anywhere close to a straw purchase. The only way it could even be construed as close would be if Stawhat were a prohibited purchaser. Strawhat, do you have any idea what the rule number or anything was, I have got to see this one in print. A “straw purchase” occurs when the actual buyer of a firearm uses another person, a “straw purchaser,” to execute the paperwork necessary to purchase a firearm from a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL).1 A straw purchaser is a person with a clean background who purchases firearms specifically on behalf of a person prohibited from purchasing a firearm because he or she is a convicted felon, domestic violence misdemeanants, juvenile, mentally ill individual or other federally or state-defined prohibited person.2 The straw purchaser violates federal law by making a false statement to the FFL about a material fact by lying on ATF Form 4473 (the firearm transaction record) or presenting false identification in connection with the purchase.3

Maybe we need an OA event on the Meremec, target spotted bass, with a fish fry to follow. A little Cajun seasoning and they would eat fine.

You have got to be kidding? So if I go to buy a gun my wife cannot be there with me? If no one can aid or assist, then how do the clerks get by answering questions. I can't guess the number of folks I see together at a gun counter (Husband/wife, father/son, hunting buddy/hunting buddy), one giving advice to the other on what they might want or need. I guess maybe you can advise all you want when looking, but not when buying?

I was going through and anything with food I had to like. Just got home from fishing and my stomach honks my throat has been cut. But my wonderful wife is make me and egg sammich and bowl of tomato soup. I might pair that with a Mikes hard lemonade.

Went to stockton tonight to try my luck, caught 2 eaters but first caught a bass. Was sort of greenish colored with no discernable line or spots. Jaw didn't go past the eye either, but definitely wasn't a smallmouth. One of the very few times I wish I had taken my phone with me. When I caught it, something just seemed different about it, then noticed the smaller mouth and got to looking at it closer. Wasn't big maybe 14 inches at best. Was neat to catch though even if it wasn't another wally.

They can find you by using your conservation # off of the Heritage Card, it is becoming more like a Drivers License #. I have the App on my phone but will get a card just because I like the photo and because my phone doesn't like water, but my wallet has been wet so many times I couldn't even begin\ to count them, I usually put it in a ziplock bag or even 2 but sometimes stuff happens and I go home wet.

I am about 50 miles north of Springfield, and other than the wind and a little lightning it was quickly over. I haven't been home to check for damage around home, but I know the wind hit hard and made the whole house creak and groan.
-
Beats me, we had about a quarter of an inch, didn't even make a puddle. I was hoping for a couple inches, think the dry ground would have soaked it all up if it didn't come too fast. What we have came and went quickly, massive wind around 10:00 p.m. then a little rain and lightning then gone. Not sure it was even enough to help the mushrooms.

I used to use the P-Line (P-rope we called it) for crappie fishing around stumps etc. It was brutal tough and strong, which as Wrench said was it only good quality, other than I used the fluorescent green so you could see a twitch in the line. It would take a set or memory very easily. I still have a little left on spools and use it for leader material to tie to my braids.

Crappie Rod and reel recommendations

I have a 7'2" Outlaw that is very soft like a Micro-Lite that works well for dock shooting, as does my St. Croix 6' Lite Action. There are many many rods/reels that work just fine. I like Als comparison to a deer rifle, I am gonna use that the next time my wife asks me if I really need a new rod. I almost never break a rod, I am very particular about my rods, on occasion I have loaded one out to someone, always either someone I knew who would take as good care of it as I do, or more likely one of my older ones that if they break, well then I just have an extra reel around.
