South Dakota smallie record broken

Man you go out and brush hog some pasture, come back and threads are closed, war is declared and a peace plan proposed. Fellers slow down so some of us can keep up. -
South Dakota smallie record broken

If my memory I'd correct he was assassinated by his own troops! I don't want to be standing next to whichever one is Sadat. -
Dadgum jayhawkers, don't even recognize fine vittles when you see them. I happen to like viennies.

Well then let's make use of the dark side for a night. What is the stranest thing you have eaten that you thought would be terrible but was actually pretty good. For me it would be the old mountain oysters, one time I was into the cold beer enough with some friends who fried up a bunch of them, I ate them and despite my desire to hate them they were pretty good. Other option would be menudo, flavor was great but the texture beat me down.

We used to use hot dog chunks soaked in some horrible home made brine when jug fishing. I usually snagged one of the dogs before it went for the brine. To soft for my taste in bait. I like live bluegill at least I could make soup out of them if need be, or fillet some itty bitty fillets off of them.

My son learned about the Garand and Thompson Sub Machine gun the same way, heck maybe the same game.

My old college room mate used to call them venereal sausages, after he decided they were made from the lungs of unborn calves. Needless to say he was not a danger to my supply. As a side note cold viennies are better than warm ones.

And since the COE has changed some stuff, here is the link to the Pomme de Terre Daily Information Page. If you have an old link to it saved, it will likely take you to an August 5th page, or not take you anywhere at all. http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/District-Lakes/Pomme-de-Terre-Lake/Daily-Lake-Info-2/

FW, I have seen you write enough about fishing on the Niangua and Little Niangua rivers and others to know that you are not stuck at LOZ. Vehicles get damaged, and they promptly get sent off to be repaired, most agents I know have encountered a deer or three, or been hit by someone at an access, or been in an iffy spot and slid it sideways into a tree. I agree that I like seeing them dirty occasionally, and I do as they sometimes stop by after an "encounter" for a cold/hot drink or if it involves our managed property.

I don't care what all they say about video games and kids, some kids develop a fantastic hand eye coordination with them. Once they figure out the mechanics of hitting a clay bird or one with feathers they are pretty dang salty.

I thought I wasn't going to play anymore, but will make a few comments about MDC Agents. I have worked with several over the years, I have been with them out in the boonies, removing tree stands, trying to stop/catch ATV riders. I have pulled them out of mudholes, I have seen them muddy, sweaty and mad. however being they in a way cops, they are required to go home, clean up, wash the truck, and put on a fresh uniform, don't want them looking unprofessional ya know. If you are looking for them to e dirty and muddy around LOZ, I don't know what they would do except get out and roll around in the grass at an access point.

It wouldn't be a zucchini as it is obviously vining. It probably has that hyrbrid Vigor, for some reason I have a soft spot for things that try to eek out a living, despite poorly located and possibly bad genetics (please no jokes, its too easy). I take pity on the ones in my compost and attempt to water them. Of course its only 20 feet or so from a hydrant, probably wouldn't be as helpful if I had to haul water to it.

Could be any of several different pumpkin/squash/gourd/melon varieties, or who knows what that came from the seed of a hybridized one of those. I usually get either a pumpkin, squash, watermelon, or cantaloupe vine growing out of my compost pile. This year it was an acorn squash (doesn't have the same leaves as the one in the picture) and it is actually producing better than anything I have planted in either garden.

STL7, Neosho 2, I am feeling left out, I want to be in a group too, how about the slothful 6, or maybe flatulent 5. I think I could qualify for those.
-
Nope, the ones I tried were almost dry and tasted like a fish house smells in late afternoon. And we're pretty chewey.
-
Ummm, having fallen for that once upon a time, NO they are NOT good for eating.
-
I am gonna keep a list, if I ever get to fish with one of you fellers and I volunteer to bring lunch, well you might want to stash a snickers in tacklebag.

Heck I like canned tamales. The one thing I didn't have to worry about with my dad was spam. He spent 2 1/2 years in WW II in the Aleutian Islands, said he ate a lot it because it was all they had, and be darn if he had to ever eat it again. Story was probably told as we were eating saltines with a little butter on it and sprinkling chili powder on it for a snack.

Me too. Some.mornings where a long sleeve shirt or even a jacket feels good. It's getting closer every day. Only a few weeks left until the last summer holiday.

DanG I had to agree with that FW. The vast majority of what is posted on our forum is opinions, beliefs, feelings, preferences and personal biases. Many many things the MDC does or implements don't agree with my personal biases, but heck many thing I do myself at times don't line up with what my personal feelings are. Such is life. Besides if we can't occasionally argue about something it ain't much fun, nobody's mind gets changed and as long as everyone stays if not polite at least not outright hostile then it's all good.

I think most motors and pre set up boats have a tilt trim on the motor, throttle, and often up front. All of them are very handy.

Sort of what I tried to allude to, MDC is not against a larger MLL or smaller # of take home fish, however to change regulation like that, the ones who propose the change have got to show some data. Otherwise, the answer, hmm interesring, and quite possibly a good idea, come back when you have some data to back it up. Some of that is the fault of missouri sportsmen, if you wish to see it as a problem, MDC has been hit enough over the years for changing regs without data to show why they have posible over compensated the other way. Only on a few odd istances such as Feral Hogs have they shorted the system, rightfully thinking that waiting for all the data would truly be waiting too long. But that's a discussion for a different topic, or not. Seems like some of the more interesting threads wander over several pages about many things.

So long and thanks for the fish.

Many of the habitat issues are beyond our control but not beyond our influence. Many agencies have $ and are more than willing to spend them for such things. The MLL is not arbitrary it is what is set currently by law, you say you want to see them use science and biology to make changes, which also means that if there is no data to support a change it doesn't change. If MDC can show daat from those special management areas that the population as a whole (not just big smallmouth) is improving then they would be foolish not to put it forth and push for changes. Please understand I would love to see the overall MLL go to 15" for SMB, honestly don't care about what happens to the spots or LMB, doesn't mean for a second that it would be the right thing to do, I am the verst to say I am heavily biased but I acknowledge it. I also believe that the MDC is working to fulfill their mission, regardless of whether or not it agrees with my personal preferences.

Hell I still haven't thrown the WP I bought last summer. As for Vienna sausages, don't be smack talking them, I ate a bunch of them growing up on fishing trips. The first few in the can are good, the next few are OK, by the time you get to the last one it can be tough to get it down. But the absolute best were beanie weenies, peel the top off, realize you have no spoon, pluck the peeled off top from the detritus in the bottom of the boat, bend it into some form of a spoon using a rush pair of okiers, and eat them trying not to cut your tongue. Best part was you didn't have to keep them cold, dig them out from under the seat and have at them. If we had a cooler usually it had a jar of pickled pigs feet, cold so that the juice turned into jelly, still like them today.
