  1. Truth right there. I have had to make more than one long dive to grab a rod butt. They can take it very soft and gentle or grab it like it's the last cheeseburger at a weight watchers convention.
  2. Any one of them will take a deer cleanly if you do your part. My Knight DISC will be setting in the safe until someone buys it, no intention of letting it go bang against my new shoulder, but dang it was an accurate killing ML. Almost all of them with a sabot and 240 gr XTP bullet.
  3. There is a decent chance that I might get to partake in a trip to the Louisiana coast to fish for redfish and sheepshead. I have never wet a hook in saltwater and also I never pass up a good reason to buy a new rod/reel. I did a search and saw.a site.salty 10 or something like that. They were reccomend in a plain ole 7 foot medium action rod and something along the lines of a 3 to 4000 size reel, Penn Battle II was mentioned. Since I have made it 54 years without getting to fish saltwater I don't want to spend a lot of $ on somehing that has no other use. I am thinking something along the lines of a St. Croix 7'6" in either M or MH and the aforementioned Penn Battle II. Honestly I have some 6'6" medium and medium heavy rods that could be respooled with different line and probably do fine. But they seem to me to be a bit light for redfish but I don't know a thing about them so any advice would be appreciated. The St. Croix and Penn combo I was thinking of could be had for $250 or so pretry easily. Something about the Penn reel being sealed so it doesn't get saltwater in it??
  4. Not me but one of my friends sent me a pic of a big ole timber rattler he caught down around Cassville, couple days later he sent me a pic of it skinned, chunked up and fried.
  5. I got nothing, trashy is trashy, regardless of wealth or anything else.

Mmmm, sounds good. If you end up needing supplies just holler, I can drop off a box of whatever you need in your yard and never make contact. Camdenton ain't that far from me.

  8. Monkeys are pure evil. How about a flying monkey/spider/bat hybrid.
  9. They ought to be chowing down on this year's shad hatch for sure.
  10. Get some, hope you do well. Had a storm.roll through, dropped 2 inch of rain in about an hour at my house just west of Pomme. Tonight just a nice gentle rain of maybe a quarter inch. Used to have a lot of fun in the little coves that had muddy or fresh water running into them, always a lot of little bass to play with if nothing else would bite.
  11. Mitch, that is terrible to hear, I know every one in the family will be grieving, when we had to put our 12 yr old Border Collie down last year, my daughter the Vet Tech, my big strong son, my wife and I all in the room. I was the least blubbery but certainly wasn't dry eyed or a very good rock. My prayers for peace and grace for all.
  12. There is a point in life when a feller shuld stop trusting farts completely. Several of us could also become patient zero for COVID 21 or what ever they might want to call it, contract the original version, it hits our system and mutates into something different. Personally I am betting on fast moving zombies like World War Z, then they won't care about me and I can wander among them and still fish all my favorite spots without competition, normal people are screwed however.
  13. I saw one of the Blazers setting in front of Whites the other day as I went by. The old MSWP used to have several of them, I am not a jet boat guy but riding with that old WP guy was quite an experience for sure on a river full of outflow from the dam.
  14. I know one who is missing a hand from one going off too quickly but it was on the main drag in town. He dropped it after lit it.and ALMOST got it to the window before it kaboom, onside of his truck was a mess, not as bad as his hand though, if you knew it was a hand you could sort of identify some of the thumb and some of the pinky in the pics.
  15. I too like snakes, bit in.all my years of walking though the hills of mod I have never seen a live rattlesnake in person. I have been some of the same places but have seen a rattler. I see few copperhead out in the woods, mostly see them on the roads in the fall or around buildings etc. The ones I have seen out in the woods took me by surprise, their camo job is superb, so I have likely been pretry close to them, just didn't know it.
  16. No two people have quite the same experience, but if it's only one day it is a "normalish" thing. However always mention it to your dr at the next appt. And if it lasts for more than a day, call them. You should have been given some anti nausea meds as well, don't hesitate to takethem.at the first sign, once you get behind the curve it is almost impossible to catch up to it.
  17. Outflow is being cut back from 1000 cfs to 250 cfs today.
  18. I gonna plant some as soon as my squash are done in the cold frame. Uless I am back to fishing by then, in that case screw it I am gonna fish got te to.make up.
  19. https://www.google.com/amp/s/tacticalgunslings.com/amp/remington-12-ga-1100-11-87-action-bar-assembly/ You are right abut everywhere I looked it was not available. I know nothing about this company but they do show it as available. Brownell showed it cold be back ordered which doesn't really mean you would ever get it. Who would have thought it wold be that hard to find?
  20. What part is it. There are enough parts in the supply line and aftermarket parts you should be able to find one.
  21. Of course not going is an option as well. Go fishing instead.
  22. Just issue him a permit for a private dock wherever he wants one and he will become a supporter.
  23. I spent 6 week in NO area after Katrina, loved the area, interesting mixture of great friendly folks and slugs, but much of the world is that way. Took me a little bit to get used to every woman calling me sweetie, darling, baby or honey. Many guys just called you cuz, and would talk about hunting or fishing until you literally walked away.
  24. My 90 HP has always been hard to cold start it seems, but I also discovered that if you pump the bulb before cranking (old habit) it will flood immediately. Less choke and it seems to start better. Once started and run it is a quick start. That is a great looking boat wish i needed it.
  25. Weekdays are not nearly as full. Weekends are normally 100% for electric sites. Some of the water front sites lost a lot of trees/shade after the flood, and we had ro remove a lot of trees. More will die as time goes on. If you want to be sure to have one, pick out one to reserve and you can change to a different site once you get there, you just have to check in with the attendant to get it on the computer to make sure it doesn't get reserved out from under you.
