Wife brought home a couple hunk of Salmon yesterday, so I heated up the grill and laid down in of the mats, what ever they are made of, melted butter added garlic powder, ginger and lemon juice. Painted up the salmon pieces after I filleted off the skin. Shook on a little house seasoning, dill, mojo rub (citrus) and a bit of Old Bay. Smeared some of the butter on the smoking hit mat and laid the salmon on. The butter browed nicely and flipped them over. Thinner belly part done just right for mom, the thicker one nice and rare in the middle for wife and i. Wife added an asparagus risotto (I feel special just typing risotto), and some home made blue berry muffins. I can live like this.

You are just getting started. I partially gutted our bathroom to fix a leak about 7 years ago, didnt put the sheet rock back because I said I was gonna replace the tub with a big shower, tile and all. Since then I have built a shower at a friend's house for practice I guess but still haven't done anything with ours. As I tell my wife, when I say I am gonna do something, I will do it. No need to nag me about it every 6 months.

One good true friend is worth a thousand relatives you never see.

The only time I was part of a family reunion, multiple generations from every dam where type thing. I was a young teenager, and remember mom and dad frying crappie and taters and making cornbread for hours, it never seemed to stop.I cranked an old ice cream maker to make multiple batches. I remember asking at one point who someone was, and dad saying, "hell I don't know who half these people are", mom was pretty sure that somehow word had gotten out that we had free fish and taters and several locals came by, which was OK at least we knew them. It was pretty well understood there would be no more of those type reunions, and certainly not at our house. Good thing was we cleaned out a lot of older fish fillets.

Was in springfid with my wife today and she selected a place to eat, The Aviary. Definitely not my sort of place, but she likes it. Ordered shrimp and grits, not really expecting much from a place that advertises itself as an eating place and crepery. Wife had some smoked salmon toast and brussel sprouts. The food was very very good. My shrimp and grits was maybe over seasoned a little, not spicy but heavy seasoning and salty but my palate is confused anymore so it might just be me. The salmon toast was excelent as were the brussel sprouts. Never had fried capers on anything nefore but they werw very good too. Didnt order any crepes as they don't really appeal to me, but over all pretty good eats. Wife left her fancy stainless collapsibe straw there but that wasn't their fault. I would certainly go back again just for the salmon toast. Which I don't have a pic of, just my shrimp and grits.

Had a young feller working for us one summer who took a couple days off to attend a family reunion, he cane back with a girl friend. To be fair to him; she was extremely cute, and was a friend of his cousin and no relation, but we sure gave him heck. As for famous people with same name who cares, ask them don't ask them whatever, would rather talk to someone I know and like that isn't famous or well known. Pretty unlikely that someone you don't know and is famous is suddenly going to become a part of your life regardless if you are related or not.

Nice, some good ones in there.

Heck now I want to go! 😆

Give me some basic directions and I will look for them and drop them off to you. I do like them well enough but I enjoy hunting then even more.

Go to the cabin, catch crappie, walleye and catfish and be happy.

Well I am expiramentin tonight, have some left over roast and some leftover mashed taters. Minced up about an equal amount of meat as the taters and mixed them all together. Plan is to make some hash cakes and put them into the cast iron skillet and see if I can get some crust on them. Got a bag of baby carrots simmering in some coca cola for side. Will add photos if it works. Well it isn't real pretty, the mashed taters don't hold it together like hash brown would, so it is soft, which is perfect for my mom to eat. Tastes good, aside from burning the crap out of my tongue on the first bite. And how can you go wrong with a slice of home made bread and blackberry jelly.

Black History Month or African American History Month ?
MOPanfisher replied to oneshot's topic in General Chat
I have a feeling like I have missed something, but truthfully I feel like that most days. Probably for the best. -
We just caught and released black snakes into the hay barn to control mice. I used think coyotes must be the meanest creatures on earth, whenever we had a stray that was not destined to stay, and just didn't take the hints, dad would take a shot gun and the dog and go coyote hunting. Dogs never came back from coyote hunts. Was years before I figured out what was happening.

Nice, but I was scared it was gonna be a stringer of 5 lb plus walleyes.

Better yet getting home and finding that 7 stray cats and 2 skunks have given birth under their house where they can't get to them.

Being out on a gravel road I have gotten a lot of dogs and cats dumped over the years. Cats aren't a problem, they either adapt or vanish, or get vanished. Dogs, I have a soft spot for dogs, but if they go after chickens, cats, horses, cows, other dogs or people they seldom make it to the second day. Not proud of that it's just a fact. Fortunately I don't have the chickens or cows any more but a stray dog growlsat me one time and it's light out immediately. Good lord I hope nobody ever dumps a horse here, that's basically how I got the 2 I have, although I agreed to it I guess. Had a nice herd of charlais mix cattle show up once, bull and I think 14 cows, would have happily kept them but the owner seemed to want them back, the second time it happened he took to a different farm with fences. Once in a while I am in need of a new yard dog and one of the strays will adopt us, if it works out it gets to stay, if not, well it doesnt.

Happens a lot on Truman, can be a bit shocking when a 50# plus spoonbill clears the water 20 feet from you. Seems to be a summer thing.

That is exactly what I did, was a bear getring it all into the eight place but works fabulously.

My Dog does not care...what does your dog/pet think?
MOPanfisher replied to N9BOW's topic in General Chat
I know that experience. -
Well by definition they might not be burnt ends but pretty darn tasty, add a dash of home made sauce and mmmmmm. I started them at about 0300 at 200 I think, then bumped it up to 225 at daylight. Bagged it around 1300 at temp of 165, then let it cook to 201. Cubed it up shook on some more rub and split it into 2 open topped pans for an hour or two. Now just waiting to take to the Chiefs Party.

Losing an old friend like that is rough. Hope he has a lot of quality life left in him. -
Normally I bag them up around that temp and let them cook in their own juices.

LOL, you will be like my wife, shoot one and then call for pick up. Sounds perfect.
