He has it mounted on his wall. Not a fish story either. I don't baffle anyone with bull****.

My dad's fishing buddy caught an 8lb male in december in the early 90's up kings river on a jig. He had it weighed at the marina and the man told him that it was a male.

I think they ought to have a spring and fall tourney. I was out of town with family for this one. Will try to make the next whenever that will be.

Crank baiting is all about deflection and speed. My biggest fish while fishing a wart was using a NEWER one. But my best stringer came off of the OLDER one.

Fish heads don't work on Table Rock.

1. I hate Nascar 2. I would think the 2nd week of March would be best which shouldn't conflict with any of the big circuts because they all will work with each other to try and get as many top anglers in their tournaments instead of having schedule conflicts. Also, it would keep all the anglers in tournament mode looking forward to the next week of tournaments instead of having a few weeks to mourn over a loss or having a party hang-over. 3. The weigh-ins take way to long, it should always be about the anglers and them thanking their sponsors not all the other stuff. 4. The classic was a very good fishing tournament, after watching the first 2 days of live coverage the anglers were all doing different things but they were also fishing to their strengths. Most of us tournament fisherman when we fish are looking for 6-7 "right" bites in order to compete. If you are fishing for numbers and keepers it normally doesn't do anyone any good. I enjoyed watching them more when they were not catching anything so I could see if they would try something else, make a move and continue running their pattern etc. We usually just see all of the good stuff on TV not the BORING adjustment or fishing part.

That color doesn't work on Table Rock.

Caught it on an A-rig! -
Don't matter to me either way. I am there to get a tug on the line and enjoy nature.

If anybody remembers the record flood a fews years back, there was going to be a BASS Open in April and there would have been some 20lb bags of smallmouth brought in but they cancelled it. They were catching them 30 ft deep where the original bank line was and where the current would set them up. I had a blast catching mixed bags during that flood on spinnerbaits. You never knew what you were going to catch, you would throw by a flooded tree on one cast catch a 4lb smallmouth, throw to the next one and catch a 3.5lb spot and bring out 4 of his friends with it and throw at the next one and catch a 4lbs largemouth. Great fun and lasting memories.

It would be hard to do but definitely has happened on the Smallmouth or very near 20lbs. Lets look more at 18lbs of spots that could definitely happen. However, if you fish tournaments you would get a eyebrow raise but not a very big check.

My dad caught 6lb 8oz Kentucky and another 6lber in 1992 at differents ends of the lake. The biggest was caught up in Fischer Creek and the other one on a road bed up the Kings. They are in there. Both came out over 40 plus feet. I fortunately, haven't caught one over 5lbs but a few years ago on New Year's Eve I ran into a pile of the magnum spots in a pocket around Campbell Point. All caught on fish head spin with a smoking shad fluke. Pictures are on the forum just have to look back a few years to find them. Table Rock is the only place that you can realistically can have a shot at catching 20lbs of three different species of bass.

Interesting, Sac River Jim may give it try.

Fisherman, had a good talk with you and Jeff after the tournament. As for my day, luckily the 3 I boated were keepers I fished the rig all day fishing channel swings and points inside of the channels at the mouths of pockets in the big creek arms. Until 1:15, I was getting a couple of bites an hour. Unfortunately, when the fish would bite and load up on it they would have the teaser bait and when I would set the hook I would have a bait missing. Very, frustrating but thats fishing, may have figured something out for a little bit unless the weather decides to stay warm. Catch you next time.

4lbs is a good one, there are a bunch of 5lbers around the dam area. Wouldn't suprise me that a 6 will be caught in the near future. Light line off of flats with baseball sized rock. Find the depth they are holding and run that depth.

Slow roll them by counting it down, or if you can get over them drop it straight down to them. The rod will just load up or you will feel a weight change, just keep reeling and you will hook them. 6-8lb line, 1/8th-3/8 jig heads. I always rig it tail down but I don't think it matters. Places to throw them, over long gravel points that dump into the channel, boat is in 60plus feet or deeper casting on top, if timber is present the better. Bluffends around timber, out in the middle of deep creek channels this is where you would try to drop on them if you can get over the top of them. That is all of my experience with it. I am not as proficient with it like our guides or the Fann brothers are who can kick out 20lb sacks on it before the A-rig. Grubs: Kalins, Yamamoto, Zoom, XPS brand are all good. Smoke, Clear hologram, Milk, Salt and Pepper, I use 5 inch only try to get as big of bites as I can.

Launched out of Old 86 and fished a 2 mile area around the ramp. It was tough, fished the A-rig predominately around timber in creeks and bluff ends. Had 6 bites and boated two of them. Had one really good bite and the rod loaded up and started reeling and nothing but a couple of good sized scales. My gut feeling was that it was another toad that just swiped at it. Water temp was 45-46 degrees. A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work. Got to spend the day with my dad and talked the day away until the cold rain drove us off the lake. Saw a few eagles which was fun to watch. Partner fished the winter series today, and they caught a limit, but 23 pounds won it. It is very finicky on the bite right now and if you are off a little bit you are going to struggle. I think with the several fronts that have been blowing in the fish are moving around to get to the winter haunts right now. A lot of fishermen are scratching their heads. Good luck.

Fished Friday from Little Indian to point 17, caught 8 keepers and landed 22 other shorts. Fished the A-rig when the wind finally got up around timbered bluff ends and boat docks. Best depth was 30ft. Early in the morning fished a white spoon and caught 1 solid 3.5lb largemouth 1/2 way up little indian. Found shad and decent size school and on the first drop caught that fish and I guess the school spooked off made a big circle and couldn't zero in on them. Anyways, when the wind did pick up the A-rig fish showed up for me and could run a pattern. Biggest was a 5lber with several in the 3 lb range. Caught my first double on the rig as well. Water temp was 47-48. Sunday, put in after church and fished from the mouth of Little Indian past the ski buoys. Had my brother-in-laws with me and we all had some kind of A-rig tied on and ended up with 12 keepers nothing over 3.5lbs. Lots of bumps, pushes, and cage rattlers with no hookups. All blacks except for 1 Kentucky. Keep the trolling motor down until you collide with them, there will be more than one when you get a bite. Hope to get out on New Years or on Friday before school starts back up. Will post later.

New management has changed things. Frog that used to run and help maintain the bowling alley is down at Berryville now.

Bass Pro Buys Ranger, Triton, And Stratos

Nitro is the most affordable boat package deal a person can get. However, by the time you rig one out the way a tournament angler would need one rigged out you are still looking at an easy 60 grand or more. All boats built now are very good. The only other thing to worry about is the service end at the stores. Johnny opens alot of doors for people who JUST need a job. Unfortunately, most of them don't know a jerk bait from a jig. -
I have been fortunate this past several months to run into a 4lber and have a chance to get it in every time but sometimes I get excited and pull the hooks out. As crazy as this past year has been there are a bunch of fish shallow and there are some big one roaming around trying to feed before they pull out. They are on specific locations and are ultra shallow. Hence only using a blade, buzz bait, or small square bill cranks.

Fished out of Big Indian from 7-3 and was expecting a fun filled wet day of catching bass. It turned out to be a tough working day on the rock for me. Started out slinging a blade on small points at the mouth of Big Indian that mixed with some big busted rock and should have caught 3 keepers in the first hour. But ended up with two and had a nice 4lber at the boat and decided to try and flip it into the boat and got it half-way out of the water before the hook pulled out. At that time the wind was blowing really good and hit other points for the next 1 hour and caught 5 just under 15 inch blacks. Just as Skunkworks was talking about the bite was very shallow and after a few feet of being away from the bank might was well burn the sucker back. Once the rain set in the wind was very hit and miss and I picked up a wart after that and had two other keeper bites come off at the boat. I didn't get a bite on any mainlake banks they were at the mouths of creeks and secondary points. Nothing in the back of anything.

You won't have enough time to fish once you untangle all of them.
-
If you find the fish in 60 ft they will thump anything that comes by. Hook sets are very important when fishing that deep.
