  1. I get alot of suprised looks when I show pictures of big catfish that I catch on big cranks and spinnerbaits when them suckers move up shallow. Catfish are predators to and will eat anything that comes by them when they are hungry. They eat perch, shad, crawfish, crappie, about anything they want. They set up in good ambush places just like a bass and are just as aggressive at times.
  2. Fished all of the Winter Series this year and believe me after the last Aia and the same teams that fished the Winter Series Championship caught 20lbs sacks two weeks before the last AiA can defintely have the potential to catch 20lbs. The BFL is a few weeks away and things could really change in the positive direction for alot of anglers to catch some big bags. All we need is some "stable", no more artic cold fronts/warmer weather to move those big females up in the water the water colum and if that happens more presentations will come into play. Good luck.
  3. I would take 16lbs with the A-rig during the BFL if nothing changes and the next few weeks. Club fished yesterday using rigs, and 12lbs won it. He had 7 bites and 5 were keepers. I threw the thing all day except for mixing in a jerkbait again, and had 4 bites but no hookups on the rig. The water temp needs to creep up a little more and things should get more active but I don't really know. The last 4 trips I have been I have caught 4 fish all of those being keepers. 2 trips I boated nothing.
  4. To make super six at least 25lbs each day. Winner hovers close or over 80lbs. G-ville is loaded with them and these guys will take 5 bites a day to win it. "Go Big or Go Home" It will be a good classic to watch for the top 8 guys.
  5. My good ole Dad taught me everything that I know now. Started throwing baitcasters at age 5 and have not put them down since. Quick tip passed from my dad now down to my kids, starting to throw a baitcaster: 1. make a long cast, 2. put some electric tape in the spool, thus not having a big backlash when the kids or beginners whip the rod makes it alot easier to fix. Joined Green Forrest bass club 3 years ago and have competed in tournaments night/day since I was 10yrs old
  6. In the right hands person could kill them on a grub or spoon. We are not in that class of fisherman. We came over a school of fish holding deep in channel bend and my partner worked a spoon over with no luck. Turned around and counted a grub down to them and didn't get bit. Partner thought they might be a big school of gar. Normally, if they are bass down there as many of them that we are seeing on the graphs one dumb one will bite. We didn't hold our tongue right.
  7. Have fished Ouachita a couple of years ago when the Flw boys were catching wolfpacks over bream beads on topwaters. Fished in blackley goofing around and saw grass everywhere. Found a fun schooling bite and when the wind came up at mid-morning had one of my personal biggest bass eat a spinnerbait slow rolled off a point with deep timber come jumping 6ft out of the water only to hand my spinnerbait back to me. Looked like an 8lber as long as it was with a big ole' bucketmouth. Will head back down there some time, probably when I make a trip to Lake Fork and come back.
  8. Unfortunately for our boat Merc, I have tried some long billed rogues and Pointer DD's and have yet to get a sniff. Things are about to change however.
  9. 33 boats, 5 limits. 16lbs, 13lbs,12lbs, 2-11lbs bags, 2-8lb bags was the top 7. Our boat was 7th place last place out of a check 8.37lbs-4fish. First spot caught 6 fish in the first hour and 1/2 with 4 keepers, feeling pretty good but knew we needed to upgrade since we fished the Winter Series Championship two weeks prior and there were 4 20 lb bags caught. However, we never had another bite after our 4th keeper bit. We brought our 4 little fish in and to our suprise it was just as tough on everyone else. Everyone was shell shocked, just goes to show you that "you never know until you know" Fish hard and good luck to everyone. Oh yeah I forgot: We caught our fish on the A-RIG!!!, threw a jerkbait and swam a grub alot as well and never got a bite on those either.
  10. Davis ought to do well, he can jerkbait and trap well also.
  11. There will big bags caught for top 5 but others will really struggle. Jerkbatin and Rattletraps will rule this thing.
  12. The best bite is during early pre-spawn (winter)- pre-spawn(early spring), however you can establish a solid pattern with it during the warmer months if you get the right conditions.
  13. Greg Bohannan pushes the PB&J colored wart. When the wart bite is going and the word is "phantom green" or "phantom brown" I catch better fish on anything brown without the phantom look. Look for a slightly different water color change from clear to green and throw them suckers around all kinds of rock changes and see how many fish bite. By the end of the day you will have a good bag of fish. Its never easy but if you hit 50 spots in a day you will catch them. Some people will catch them on the "phantom" colors, I have my share of the "phantoms" but I tend to do better with the solid color patterns with brown in them.
  14. I haven't really done very good when there is a big population of dead shad. However, if I see a few dead shad here and there I tend to do better not so easy for the bass to sit underneath and open there mouth they still have to move a little get fed. I have heard of people killing them when they are around a bunch of dead shad though. I want to run away from the buffet.
  15. Champ, did you see much shad dying that far down lake? There has been some small shad flipping around KC area was wondering if this last cold blast stunned anymore of them? Have heard that its getting worse for the shad from Club guys will find out for sure with AiA this weekend.
  16. Our boat finished 9th in the championship. It is slow but you have to hit a bunch of places and if you hit it when the fish are active you can get several bites and the bites tend to be keepers or quality fish. Fortunately, for us we caught the biggest bass that day but yet again we couldn't put a limit together. We had plenty of bites yesterday but the fish would come up behind the bait and knock slack in your line and you would set the hook and come up with nothing. The three fish we caught bit the same way but wanted the bait better and all were hooked deep in the mouth. We talked with some other guys and they said they were dealing with the same problems. Thats the frustrating part of this sport we are doing the right things and getting the opportunities but the fish are just not taking the bait all the way sometimes. If the weather warms any from now to April chances of catching a big fish are out there for those of you who are wanting to catch your biggest fish on this lake. There was a five pounder in several bags yesterday. The lake is fishing tough but if you hit the right areas you can catch a big one. Good luck everyone.
  17. None of Balsabee's collection would catch any fish in Table Rock!!!
  18. Sure did a couple years ago. Everything was re-vamped. Don't understand why they are closing it.
  19. I use vanish and haven't had any problems with it, have tried other brands and some wouldn't cast very well and others were just real stiff. Vanish to me feels just right, it is a little softer and has great sensitivity and very stong.
  20. Well done.
  21. Thats the perfect wart box for TR. Not to many either just the tried and true fish catchers for this part of the country.
  22. It would remind me of H-Hwy being closed for all those years and the ramp being ran down similiar to sweetwater. However, someone got a grant passed to re-pave the ramp at H-Hwy. Used to be a great park however.
  23. Danger, I would be gald to give your jigs a try. Henry Adams 1116 McKennon Berryville, AR 72616
  24. Go to the Bass Cat owner's forum, they have listed used boats with warranty at great prices for low hours used on the motors.
  25. Fished KC-Cow Creek yesterday afternoon, threw the Rig most of the day with no takers, mixed in a jerkbait without a bite. Threw a jig over a brushpile and finally got bit. However, that was the only excitement besides watching shad slowly dying.
