  1. Nice pics and report, I guess it's Ned time, water temperature? My bad seen at end of post 51-53
  2. I'm guessing that brownie at 3and half pushing 4 and the black close to 6. Awesome fish!
  3. Nice day, that first pic is a big brownie, how much did she weigh? Thanks for the post and the pics and congrats on a great day.
  4. Bo, you are the most consistent fishermen that post on here! I am always astonished how effectively your on quality and quantity! Hats off to you and your success, thanks for all your post and sharing! Always look forward to your post, even though they are humpyling!
  5. Thanks Sam, that's great info, I'll tell my dad the real explanation, we have always loved catching Arkansas Black Nosed Crappie aka "line heads"
  6. Good for you! Awesome arm of the lake, great bass and crappie fishing only a few miles up or down from Cape Fair ramp! Congratulations!
  7. Put in at 10:30 and went up river a ways and hit swings and pockets. Caught a few real quick on pumpkin seed wart and slow rolling 1/2oz blade. Water temp 50.03 and good color. Got up to Virgin Bluff and water turned stained, so turned around and worked back toward ramp. Changed to fb jig on bluffs caught several and a nice spot. Back to wart and caught a what dad and I call "line head" crappie, you know the ones with the racing stripe from their nose up their head. Went down past Wooley and water clear and almost 55 caught several more spots on fb jig in 30-35 fow but all shorts except a couple. Loaded up at 4:30 with 15 total and 5 keeps, fun short day. Tight lines and CPR
  8. The green pumpkin with orange belly looks fantastic, my favorite color in off colorered or stained water. Great paint job!
  9. I am the same, use my graphs for reference and water temp. I'll never use them to try and find fish before I wet a line. That IMO takes all the challenge out of fishing, I love the challenge and purest aspect of finding and inticing them to strike by using weather conditions, temp and seasonal changes to catch fish. Otherwise might as well be fishing in a barrel. To each his own.
  10. Nice report, as the saying goes, wind out of the south hook in the mouth. Congrats on figuring them out.
  11. Nice job and way to brave the weather! Thanks for the report and pics.
  12. Great post! You really know your stuff, fb jig has been the ticket for me. I gotta learn the spoon bite. I guess there is a learning curve, took me about a year to learn how and were to use fb jig. I guess I'll have put the spoon on and learn it. Thanks for sharing the knowledge Bill.
  13. I'm nota triller, but I can add this old crawdad colored tots with the metal bill can load the boat with bass! The metal bill banging the bottom makes a unique sound that sometimes really works!
  14. Not complaining at all Champ, always love just being on the water. And yes lots of shorts and mostly spots on deep little n, fat free shad, wart and crawler tried about everything but all shorts. So back to fb jig. I am sure somebody killed em on a crankbait but not me and I chunked it a bunch, probably too long.
  15. Put in at 9:30 and started on mainlake bluffs and swings with fb jig in white river caught 3 real quick with one keep and thought gonna be good day. I was wrong, fished almost to big m caught 6 more and keeper brownie. Deceided to run up the Kings to deer bluff and work back to ramp. Wind picked up so tried multiple crankbaits caught lots of shorts so back to jig and caught keeper black. Water temperature was 57 and change almost everywhere I was. Highlight of my day was on opening hole spotted bald eagle perched on cedar up the bank and quietly got closer to him than any other in my life took the best photo I could. Tight lines and CPR
  16. It's a very interesting topic but being a marketing major and not wildlife conservation or work for MDC, they are the experts. Their job is to manage our wildlife and in my opinion have done a fantastic job. I practice catch and release on all bass species regardless if they lower the length limit on spots to 12" I'll never keep one! Ever single fish taken from the lake will NEVER be enjoyed by another angler. CPR= catch photo release The only species I'll remove is walleye and few crappie since those are continually stocked by MDC. As I mentioned before MDC has no plans in the foreseeable future to ever stock any species of bass again so please practice CPR.
  17. Your favorite mid- deep diving crankbait both crawdad and shad colors, spinnerbaits and mostly football jig football jig football jig.
  18. I believe that all the stocked walleye are competing for the same forage as all bass. Conservation agent informed my son and me that they will not stock any species of bass for the foreseeable future but will continue to stock walleye to keep Stockton the best walleye spot in Midwest. Thats fine by me don't fish for them but catch lots fishing for bass and in my opinion they taste better then crappie.
  19. The length limit on spots is 15" the same as blacks. My son and I were stopped and asked multiple questions about our outing by MDC this spring including a proposed lowering of the length limit on Kentucky Bass. We both agreed to not lower the length limit, spots have there place on the lake as all other species do, Mother Nature will always take care of any problems! The spots are few and far between so release them all to be caught another day! Tight lines and CPR Hammer time
  20. I thought you were done with OA and singed off, glad to see you're back. Why the return and a different name?
  21. Historically, on the Rock this time of year the nastier the weather better the bite and big sacks and good chance of a 7 plus pounder.
  22. I not sure but don't think males get that big, I think it's a huge gal. Regardless that is very impressive and many anglers fish a lifetime and never catch one that big. Again way to go and congrats!
  23. Got a late start with my son a put in a 11. Went up the big sac and not far past Birch water turned to mud with about 4" visibility. Caught one short on a blade, went another 1/4 mile up and 2" visibility. Tried jig and blade for about a hour longer, not a bite. Decided to run if to dam area and fish clean water. Fished jigs from dam back to ramp on channel banks and swings. Tuff day for us only managed 7 fish 1 short spot and 6 blacks with 2 keeps. Fish had lockjaw for us but still enjoyed spending time with each other. Seen 5 bald eagles and lots of migrating ducks. Pretty day and we knew with bluebird skies and north with it would be tuff. Oh well there's always next time. Tight lines and CPR
