  1. I do not know who done the rigging. I purchased the boat at Sports Boats when they were between Forsyth and Hollister Mo. At that time a gentleman by the name of Wallace Lea and a salesman by the name of Kenny were there in 1983. I know there are a lot of guys who says that motor will not turn a 27 pitch but they believe it when they see it run. It has always ran like that and I don't know why but the boat will run higher on the water than most and when it starts to chine walk there is no way to drive out of it as most boats can be. I've had some say that it is one of Evinrude racing engines but I don't know that to be so. All I know it does run good.....
  2. The prop is a 13-1/4 27 Shooter 4 blade or a 14 - 24 Hooter by Pendergrass. Speed by GPS is 58 - 62 MPH depending on load in the boat. Now the Tach could be off but not by much if any. Did receive a service bulletin in 1983 on de-tuning this engine to run the 87 octane unleaded or have to run the 91 octane. I decided to not de-tune and use 91 plus a booster. All regular maintenance items has been performed as laid out by Evinrude with the water pump being changed every year to 1-1/2 yrs use. What I meant was no major work on this motor such as re-build. Has always had higher water psi at idle than any new motor and yes primer valve was changed. It has always had Evinrude 50:1 oil this motor did not have oil injection that was year before it was added in 1984 on the Evinrude motor and never trusted none of the alcohol blended lower octane gasolines out there. This 30 year old motor is still going strong today.
  3. What you say is for the newer outboards, there are still some of the older outboards that were produced before the 87 unleaded gas was switched to. I know of a 1983 150 Evinrude that has to have the 91 plus a booster added to that for it to run. It also will turn in excess of 6000 RPMs if you push it. It will out perform any of the new 150's and some 175's on the same type of the boat. It is a real fuel burner if you open it up but doesn't do too bad at around 4000 RPMs on fuel use . It was checked over last year and all cylinders were above 100 lbs of compression and the person who checked it out was surprised with the performance it produced. It has never been blown and has not had any work done on it. It is as it was when it was purchased new, I know because I bought it new in 1983 on a 350 V Ranger from Sports Boats. So for these older outboards stay away from the 87 octane/E10-15 fuels unless you want to destroy it..
  4. They need to be reported to the water patrol, maybe they will get caught and wrote up. I have the water patrols phone number on my cell and I do call and report such activity and they will call you back and let you know the status of your call. That kind of action will get someone hurt or killed one of these days do to dumb azz things like that.
  5. Iclass, I would assume (you know about that word) that it is/would be a judgement call on the agent in question on the culling reg. If you would happened to run into one which is a slim chance while you were releasing the fish. I haven't been checked here in MO in years. Was checked in Arkansas last fall for license and they did checked the live wells for fish and I may be check tonight at Cape Fair you never know.
  6. Why put them in the live well if you are going to release at the end of the trip. Take a picture, weigh it and release them and not harm them in a live well for 6 or 8 hrs. Once you place the fish in the live well it is counted towards a limit and not to be released/culled. With the no cull rule you can not replace a smaller fish in your live well with a larger fish. No matter if you release all fish in your live well at the end of the day. You have to release the caught fish immediately and not cull if you have your limit. This rule is only during the hot summer months to reduce the mortality rate. Does it work??? Who knows, and is it enforced?? Who knows.
  7. The ones I get aggravated at is when they get on the ramp and they have to get their rig ready to launch, some seem to take forever to remove tie downs get life jackets out and decide who is going to get in the boat at launching. When I pull on the ramp I am ready to launch and get out of the way for the next one. It is a very simple procedure load and unload if you just practice a little of course I have a few years experience doing that and every boat and trailer has it's sweet depth in the water for the trailer to load and unload. When you have these tournaments that have large numbers of boats the loading and unloading usually goes very smooth considering everything going on. If you want a good laugh just sit and watch people on a boat ramp, I've seen a little bit of everything happen during loading and unloading boats from trailers.
  8. Anytime there is money or large prizes involved cheating is a possiblty. Most of the larger tournaments with sizable prizes use a lie dector test in an attempt to keep honest people honest. But it does goes on, there is always someone who will try it in some shape or form to win..
  9. Thanks Phil for the stickers, you're the best.....
  10. Sent you a PM for some stickers.....
  11. Well in reading the things other people has done makes me chuckle about having done everything mentioned so far. I have had a boat for 40 years and in that time period I have had my moments of stupidity.
  12. I've been there and done that more than once in the past.......
  13. If you are 62 yrs or older and with a Golden Age Passport the yearly cost is 1/2 price of $15.00. The campsite fees are also 1/2 price as cost of national parks are also 1/2 price. There is a small fee for the Golden Age Passport but it is a onetime cost of $10.00 for a lifetime. It is a real bargain for us seniors......See Below Senior Pass $10 Lifetime pass For U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or over. May be obtained in person at a federal recreation site or through the mail using this application form. The cost of obtaining a Senior Pass through the mail is twenty dollars ($20). Ten ($10) for the Senior Pass and ten ($10) for processing the application. Applicants must provide documentation of age and residency or citizenship. May provide a 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services. Generally does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners.
  14. Its people like that should have their dock permit yanked and have to remove their dock from our WATER !!!!!!!!
  15. I keep a 3/4 or 1 oz spoon tied on for fishing and those who acts stupid such as what youre talking about. Those spoons can be casted quite a distance, you just have to get close for them to get the idea.. There are the few who have no respect for anyone except their self.... It is just unbelievable how things and attitudes has changed on the lake towards your fellow man the last 40 plus years.....
  16. I'll second that Ulrich Marine is the best people around this area. Fred & Janet knows their way around the marine business. I have went there for a part and 99.9% of the time they have got it on the shelf. OUTSTANDING people.......
  17. Time to call Marine Repair and get their advice on service or replace....
  18. I remember those days throwing a 3/8 or 1/2 oz black & white Bass Buster single spin with a white Uncle Josh pork bait trailer was a dynamite color at night. Wish I could locate those single spins today. They were a short arm with a ball bearing swivel a Colorado blade, a great lure.
  19. Yep but can you see 300 boats with in that area trying to fish.. You would've had to take a number to fish a location there. I still believe you could have more interest if you would have more than 1 checkin on TableRock. Do relize what kind of boat ride it would have been yesterday say from Cape Fair or Big M with all of the big boats out and about and how much time it would've taken to get to Long Creek dock from either one of those 2 areas.. I have heard that you have had 3 or 4 checkin areas on Lake of The Ozarks, is that true??
  20. I agree whole heartly.
  21. Boy wish I'd known about that 2 years ago when I threw one in over by point 5. I'm going to go right now and put one in my boat.. Thanks for the tip Champ.........
  22. Well I have owned Ranger boats and I do like them. They hold there resale value because of their reputation of being one of the best. A new 1976 155A w/115 Evinrude cost me $3600.00, A 1983 350V w/150 Evinrude cost me $10500.00, that 350V was their bread & butter boat. These 2 Rangers were outstanding for what they cost. Now days a Ranger boat equipped like a Nitro Z8 or Z9 will cost you any where from $10,000.00 to $15,000.00 more than a Z8 or Z9. The Rangers are just not worth that much more in my book. Yep I bought the Z8 in 2010 and have enjoyed it, would do it again if and when I get in the market for another new boat. After 3 years it has preformed great, the only problems I have had was the Interstate batteries they used. So I replaced them with the good Walmart batteries . So in my opinion (everyone has one) the cost of the Ranger name is just not worth it.
  23. Here is a method to start on setting the motor height and work up or down until the best location is found. Start at a gap measurement of 3-1/2 inches between the bottom of the pad and motor prop shaft center line. This is just a starting point, every boat, motor, and prop combination has its own sweet spot.
