  1. I don't post often but here goes. I was concerned about some thunder I was hearing so I stayed close to the dam. Sorry Quill, but I need a clicker to keep track of the fish....but yet again I would probably forget to click the button ? Caught between 25 and 30.....mostly smallmouth with some nice spots mixed in. Several good keepers. Ned was the deal, fished very slowly in 15 fow on gravel mixed with small chunk rock. Apparently my pictures cannot be uploaded...due to file size ??
  2. Imho, when you get past the aw shucks, gosh darn, golly gee good ol boy persona, Roy Williams has amassed more power and influence with the NCAA, officials, media, press, compliance and enforcement, scheduling, etc etc than any other individual in college sports. As a lifelong Jayhawk I saw this uncanny talent benefit KU. I also saw him nearly destroy the non basketball part of the athletic program. Before you throw rocks at me, take a look at the academic scandal at NC that was squashed and ignored 2 years ago. The man is clever.
  3. Go Tiger (s)
  4. You are all being exceedingly kind and gracious not to mention MU has a 24% decline in enrollment....evidently not enough safe places ?
  5. I tie up a number of harnesses with a swivel on one end and the hook with palomar knot down about 18". I leave the tag end about 12" for the weight. I wrap several of them on a chunk of float noodle and I'm good to go. I try to save time on the water for fishing not tying up a rig.... these old fingers are a bit feeble.
  6. Thats been my experience with Vanish
  7. The father of a very good friend of mine flew P-47s over France and Belgium during the war. Most of his missions were strafing runs against armed positions, tank formations, and armament trains. He subsequently owned an aircraft supply and repair company. I got to see and be around a number of historical aircraft. My favorites by far were the fighters powered by the Pratt and Whitney radial engines. Never heard anything roar like they do. His favorites were the P-51 D Mustangs.
  8. I have had mixed experiences (good and bad) fishing various tournaments as a co-angler. In defense of most "pros" they are under intense pressure to "get a check." They are not there to serve up concierge services and accommodate the co-angler. This sport is expensive and most "pros" have a harsh economic situation. I think the most you can ask for is a pleasant attitude and decent communication.
  9. Here is the picture
  10. Well he did it again!! My Grandson Wyatt ask me to take him fishing and it was on. 5:30 am, ham and egg sandwich, and orange juice. Ready to roll. Several small bass and a NICE walleye....the walleye is to be fish tacos for his mother. The boy is a natural. Take a boy fishing!
  11. Selling 2 year old seldom used 1648 Tracker Grizzly modified jon boat and trailer. Has an excellent 25hp Evinrude tiller motor with 2 OMC fuel tanks. Optional: remote control 12v Minn Kota copilot Lowrance Elite 7 HDI $6,000 for all....or best offer Willing to trade toward a pontoon for the family.
  12. You betcha Quill!!
  13. I have been following KU athletics since the late 50s. I feel qualified and justified in my rather harsh view of the football program. If there was ever a meaningful, effective football culture at KU it was fleeting and temporary. Whether it was Jack Mitchell, Pepper Rogers, Mike Gottfried, Glen Mason, or Mark Mangino there has never been the level of support needed to keep and build football momentum. Roy Williams did his share of undermining support for the other althletic programs with his single minded "aw shucks" basketball mentality. The AD Bob Frederick was his enabler. We learned the hard way that a storied basketball tradition takes a distant back seat to a storied football program when it comes to negotiating with the networks for broadcast contracts. If KU wants to get serious about football, they will need to get an athletic director that has the experience, knowledge and connections to give it any chance of success. So far he has made 3 serious hiring blunders. This is a huge challenge, while keeping the basketball program top 5. Very, very difficult to do but Self is the team player needed to help where he can. The football staff is, at present, a cluster of calamity.
  14. Should be an interesting season
  15. You MU faithful seem to have much more to be concerned about than losing control of your athletic program....lol ???
  16. You guys are too good to me....rps, I caught that big walleye on a "special" spinner bait Champ gave me.... ??
  17. Yes indeed....it seems to be an unfortunate pattern ??
  18. We all know about the "big fish that got away" stories....??....but it does make it a little less painful when there is a star witness that can share the pain. Quill was a trouper, regained his composure quickly, and was very supportive. When that big girl came flying out of the water, it was something to behold.
  19. This is the fish Wyatt caught last year. She was 23" with thick shoulders and heavy girth. We did not have a good scale but took a lot of pictures and measurements. She was released promptly and swam away. The taxidermist that did the replica is a marine biologist that got his degrees from Kansas State and when he ran his calculations he estimated 6lbs 7oz.
  20. I have thought for some time that wildlife has been pushing back to a loss of habitat and may be getting a bit bolder. Whatever the case is, it sure changes the complexion of a walk in the woods. This picture was taken in Vinita Oklahoma. Kansas officials denied any existence of big cats until trail cameras proved them wrong
  21. I co-angler fished a full day with Rick Clunn at a Central Pro Am event a couple of years ago. Definitely one of the most unusual / unique experiences I have had. His skill was something to behold and his occasional anecdotes were interesting but I would take a pass for a repeat.
  22. I have had similar results on several occasions. I keep both tied on to the same rod, reel, and line setups and get many more bites on the Wart.
  23. This one fought hard and long....finally landed her and released her to swim away to fight another day ?
