  1. You can claim deductions against your hobby income but deductions are limited to your gross income from the activity in any given year (iRC Code Section 183).
  2. Tides are the key. If the tide is not moving fish off the edge. Scout at low tide, see where it fills when it rises. A gold silver minnow spoon with a shrimp trailer will catch most anything. Just gotta find the fish. Shrimp and a hook is all you need, topwater and a few Mann's 1- make it more fun.
  3. Hole punch and a a plastic Coffey can lid, will take 2. Rarely use though. Swim jigs work better.
  4. Man smart, women is smarter!
  5. That's awesome John. Thanks for the report as always.
  6. Mitch is awesome with a jig. Very accurate caster, does not waste time.

    What's Cooking?

Dont go to at any of those spots. Not legal to pick in a STL County Park. Saw lots looking, not finding. Helps if your willing to walk more than 100 yards from your vehicle. Most won't.
  9. Well carry on. You know what it really is. Bars below the lareral line is the tell on that fish,đŸ˜€
  10. My PB Mo fish was a 21" but that looks bigger. Good for you again!
  11. Think last pic looks like a 16-17 inch fish, the other is probably 22 if weighed a 5+,
  12. That's a stellar bass! Good for you.
  13. 1099's are easy to file. My admins do a pile of those. Good to paper them with the income if you are splitting more than $1,200. The IRS can match and it will sucure your deduction. Would add some travel, boat gas, mileage, etc on the deduction side.
  14. Mitch took the 10 spot overall with a 6.98. Looked brutal out there yesterday.
  15. Not a mean mouth, hate that term. Looks like a smallie spot hybrid.
  16. Usually fish a swim jig through garbage weed, tree tops, swim bait trailer. 1/2oz mostly sometimes 3/4.
  17. Good trip. That river is a puzzle factory.
  18. We got enough for a skillet full today. Small yellows, gray's. It's getting started, but not ON yet. Worth looking with the rain and a warmup coming. A few in mixed scrubby elms/ash all small, covered those and left them. The rest were around a big cottonwood.

Will make some Shepards Pie next week. Have a leg of lamb in the freezer. Would work great with the leftovers.

    What's Cooking?

Good looking stuff! Haven't done much cooking lately. Made some grilled cheese for lunch before or hike. Companion Bread, 2 slices of Muenster, and a light smear of Dukes Mayo on the outside, before grilling. Turned out perfect. Wife & I spotted a few morels and the kids got a few too. Maybe a Lb, but enough for a side dish tomorrow. Looks a bit bare in the woods, should get better if it warms up a tad.

    Opening day 2018

    Good Job!
  22. Elms are the classic yellow morel tree, but there aren't that many of them around anymore. I find plenty on Cottonwood, Soft Maple, Ash, and Sycamore in the bottoms. My early spot is bunch of beat up elms growing next to a large asphalt parking lot. It gets full sun all day, and warms up early. Have picked a bunch from big dead & dying cottonwoods over the years. They will grow in a 30-50' circle around the tree, so keep your eyes open.
  23. Looks like fun. Think the American & Hickory shad are running in that part of the country about now. Good tugs, fast action if you find them. Would check that out if available.
  24. Found one half inch high gray at my early spot in STL today. Not gonna waste any time looking for a meals worth until it gets a bit warmer.
