  1. At Tan Vat? Would not want the place. Buy yourself a camper our a tent and stay at Montauk or on the river. Gene has a choice spot. Would have interest if you ever want to sell.
  2. Big looked kinda dingy when we drove past Desloge today
  3. Got it done this weekend. Did a 7-8 mile float with my bro-inlaw. Real nice guy, Eagle Scout, union plumber and Cub Scout leader. Did a mild whitewater stretch with a couple bouder gardens on it. Scenery & company was great, caught smallmouth too. Still in winter type holes on that creek. Good jerkbait bite, tore up the 4" baits in the slow deep spots. Water was very clear, great fun watching them come out of nowhere and stage to kill your candy! Best three 18, 17,15....great day! Small plastics caught a bunch of little fellers.
  4. They grow on the edges and open spots first. As it warms up look in the woods. It takes time and boot leather to find a bunch.
  5. Yes you could get more....then there is time. How long does it take you to make extra doing something else? Neat stuff, but mostly decorative items.
  6. Neat stuff but no collector value. 150 for all if your lucky.
  7. Hard to do with generation. Try the Buffalo our some of the bigger streams in the Missouri Ozarks.
  8. Spectacular haul! Good for You!
  9. Its still a mix this time of year. Gotta go where you want to go, our nearby water where the fishing might be better. Move, our pick a different float trip if you have the time.
  10. have not been fishing since January. Gonna give it a go go this weekend.

Looks great as always. I do a pretty good shrimp pasta with sundried tomatoes, lots of fresh basil, goat cheese, honey, garlic, cayenne or fresh pepper, Evo and s&p. No real recipe just eye ball it. Morels. I've changed a few things with them. Used to eat them in floured & fried. Only a couple dozen found this year with very little looking. Do not wash them, cut so they are clean of dirt. Cut in half, Foil pack with a drizzle clarified butter & s&p. Maybe 15 @ 350. Better nutty, woodsy flavor IMO.

Looks great! Finally had some time to fire up the grill. Lamb chops & Lobster to celebrate the end of tax season.
  13. Appreciate what you have. That creak produces lots of 5-8lb brown trout and you have total access to it. No guide or boat needed. It's as good as you will find anywhere. If it disappoints you, change your game. The better fish are not easy.
  14. Snakes dont pose much risk unless you want to pick one up. A buddies niece got hit by a copperhead on her leg down at Red Bluff on the Huzz a couple years ago but that's it.
  15. 20% over 18 is a great indicator of an Apex fishery, especially when you consider the size of the river. There is plenty of food but the population is down quite a bit. The MTFA, Lunker Patchers, Derby Fishers and similar dipsticks take a big toll When they run into the park in hot weather. They can take 4 over 15 in the park.
  16. Nice! Looks like it is still a touch early. Inks aren't worth the trouble. No luck with the girls on Sunday just a nice 3 mile hike. Hope to find a few Thursday when all of my tax returns are done or extended.
  17. Food is not the limiting factor down there. The sculpin & minnow population is astounding.
  18. Guess it's time to start looking! Plan to take the kids tomorrow.
  19. It's a put, grow, and take fishery below the wire but those who love the place rarely take. there are lots. of folks who fish with gear and limit their harvest down there. Why take an 18" fish? Nice but no big deal. 22-24" is a darn good one. Bigger than that is rare.
  20. Thinking the brownie man. Great guy!
  21. Agree with Joe. Always have a dry fly, nymph, and streamer fly rod outfit handy when down there, but you gotta have some floating & suspending minnow plugs. That bite can be insane! Browns usually hit the front treble if the candy is right. EZ release if de barbed. Rainbows usually hit tail on a minnow plug...they like spoons better. Browns will hit the spoon too, but gold, not silver, mostly. Kastmasters 1/6oz plus and minus. Enough hints! Good night.
  22. Can you add douche bag? I am willing to take that risk.
  23. Great looking fly and good for you! Hard to top the Sneaky Pete profile.
  24. Ness has a good boat for sale. Take a look. Honest guy, and he takes care of his stuff.
  25. Sold my vagabond solo several years ago to a guy on this forum. I don't miss it. My late friend Bicycle Bill Brock gave me a 30 year old Mad River Slipper (fiberglass) soon before he passed, and it paddles great. Better bow so less water in the boat when you run a nasty drop. Think I would go with the Wenonah Wilderness if looking for solo Ness. Better fit for you I think. Have not looked at new Tandem canoes but I'm pretty happy with my 15yr old Wenonah Spirit 17. Bought her new and I've beat the crap out of that boat. Still gets it done. Tad faster than a Disco 169 and it handles much better. Handles from the stern best even when solo. Bow is high so wind is a pain when solo if not loaded right, but might pick up a replacement soon. Think I paid about 8-900 for that boat but new is looking like $1800 plus tax.
