Just tie the marabou on, then the chenille in at the hook eye. Tight concentric wraps back past the bend to the stop point then wrap forward the same way. Tie off at the eye. Takes less than a Minute.
Round bill seems to run better in current. Like the Mann's 1 minus and Baby 1 minus a bit. Gets bigger bites than the wee craw but not near as many. The wee craw has a unique wide wobble action. Nothing else quite like it in my swimming pool. Al's baits do work pretty well when he breaks them out. Goofy looking but he catches fish with them. Boat position & accurate casts don't hurt his odds.
MDC's funding is protected by the State Constitution. The legislature likes to mess with them a bit but there really is not a worry.,whatever the leg might pass is clearly not within their authority.
Not many, unless you are down by the White. Rainbows will almost always eat an egg, The Pickle "Pat's Rubberlegs" is good for browns & smallmouth anytime.
Walk the dog plugs & buzz baits in the Summer. Jerk baits & hair jigs this time of year. Ned rigs anytime.plus dozens of others. What do you have so we can fill out your kit?
FWIW, Al and All. Legislators from both parties HATE the conservation sales tax. I've heard the conversations, done some campaign treasury work over the years. It is over $100M that they can't tap. They want it.
Some dumb stuff like this comes up every session in the MO legislature and never gets any traction. MDC sales tax is MDC's main funding source. 80% of what they receive ballpark. Permit sales might be 10-15%. Federal funds make up most of the rest. From memory, but I look at their published financials whenever I see them. Heck, I'm a CPA. I love to read & review financial statements and tax returns. Better when I prepare them and get paid. Think they spend around 140M a year, mostly payroll.
Guess you intend to head north? The Late, Great, Single Malt Plumber used to chase fly rod stripers on the NFoW. He devoted several years to that effort before he was rewarded.
Teeny tiny can be the ticket up there sometimes it's happened at least twice in the last 20 years. Trico, tiny olives, midges or other tiny fluffy stuff, 22-28. A 16 caddis usually gets takes, but the big fish want sculpin, minnow, or craw. 2-3" for craw, 3-5" for sculpin or minnow. Good luck!
Not much water in the Current right now and it's a cabbage patch above Tan Vat. The few spots with depth and flow held fish on thanksgiving weekend. Brown trout seem to be a bit scarce right now so fish an egg with something drab for the browns.
