  1. Kings run early and you get better numbers with silvers. Halibut fishing is like chopping firewood. A work out but a chore. Like dragging 30-50lb door mats out of deep water.
  2. Those look great! FW's pics tell the tale. What we see, and what the fish see depends on available light and the background behind the object in view. Don't think color maters that often on top, other than dark, light, and translucent. Sometimes it does. Usually go with yellow, chartreuse, or white first but orange, pink, or other wild colors work sometimes.

    Goose Ruebens

Looks great. I love a good Reuben. Hint for a better one. Bread, cheese, all the soggy stuff goes in the middle, cheese, bread.
  4. No worries, the carcasses were much bigger than a box turtle. Guess there were 4-5 in a 5lb pack of boneless turtle meat. Packer was in Mandeville, so probably from Lake Ponchitrain.
  5. Chainsaw to cut wood where legal. Why pay to much for to little at the CG store?
  6. They look different down there. Nice catch and in spawn colors.
  7. You can toss all the time, effort, & money that you want at it but it will always be a boom, bust fishery. I've fished it off and on for over 20 years. The habitat is fine but flows are inconsistent. Good water for a couple years and it gets good. Low water for a year or two and it's not worth the trip.
  8. Kvd's work well, like the spro little jobs too. Not a sqare bill but I like the Mann's 1 minus series a bunch.
  9. Looks great, as usual. Did some turtle soup last weekend. Sourced some Louisina snapping turtle meat in town. Excellent, but a pain to butch. Could not distinguish a significant difference from the last time I made it with veal stew meat.
  10. Swim jig trailer? Looks like the big panfish would have fun picking it apart.
  11. Looks like a happy pup! Good for you.
  12. Nice report. Weight matters. Change it for every run if need be.
  13. Bernat makes tons of similar yarns. Michaels craft store had a ton of them. Ronnie that's a stupid easy tie. Do it yourself;)!
  14. Shannon steamer uses the same material. I call it the tampon fly. It works. 3 bucks for 75 yards.
  15. Bernat baby blanket yarn & a dab of tear mender on the lose end. It's not furled.
  16. Glad you had fun and built some confidence!
  17. Guess he needed a beer our two and some noise to drown out his wife's chatter? We have a leaf blower in our camper FWIW. Comes in handy sometimes.
  18. Thinking stonefly most likely. Too skinny for caddis.
  19. Wing looks to long for midge. Caddis, small stonefly, maybe a leaf hopper.
  20. It usually fishes well when the Middle Meramec is flooded. Should be good right now.

    New Pb Brown

    Nice! Well done!
  22. That is not to miss! LOL! They dump some in several lakes nearby, and my 5 & 7 year old girls have fun. Jefferson Lake is the Mecca for the winter mud puddle stocker fishing. Always a crowd.

    Cigars

Not brand specific but I enjoy a good smoke. Bolivar, Romeo, Partigas, Real Cohiba's. Dominican cigars are good. Otherwise wrap in zig zag.
  24. Put the camera in a dry box in your canoe. Works well.
  25. You can puzzle about it but the fish bite or they don't. Frenzy is when you find it. Not that often, more luck than anything you can control.
