Know a guy who goes up there for crappie quite a bit.. It's kind of a mud hole IMO.

Think the bottoms will have no sunflowers or corn by Sept 1 this year. Might head elsewhere on a Monday-Wednesday timeframe. Need to go shoot some clay birds.

Your vehicle will get checked out. Don’t leave anything of value in it. Same rules apply in town. The hoods will break your window for $1 worth of change.in your cup holder. The cops don’t care.

Statewide limits apply on the Niangua. Usually fishes pretty well in spite of the abuse it receives.

You should take a weekend and scout it first. Usually check out at least 1 possible access on the way home from someplace else.

Looked a bit muddy when I drove over it Sunday. Take a look at the maps on the Ozark Anglers Main Page, and look at the maps on Missouricanoe.org. Get a paddlers guide from the MDC store too. It’s more up to date.

Will be looking in STC too when the water goes down. Should be some vacancy with this years flooding. The MDC reports say that they’ve don’t kill ducks at MTC, Leach, or CB and they are always full.

Thanks Wily, on the river all weekend. Have a 17’ paddle jon with a 55lb thrust Trolling Motor,17’ canoe, and 12’ kayak. Work for a living so I won’t drive to poor line unless I can pair it with reservation hunt.Was planning to apply for 4 rivers, Grand Pass, and Shanks through MDC res draw, and quick draw, plus Swan’s draw. My Schedule is very flexible between 10/15 and 1/2/20. Have been looking up open public spots. Plan to take 3-5 days in October to burn gas, scout, and do some fishing.

Will have to take you on a trip in it sometime. It's paddles differently than a canoe...You really need two people paddling on a designated side when its loaded. The oars work if solo, or with two and a light load for a day trip. Forget the oars when its loaded.

Had a really nice float this weekend. Met Mike at 6am in Gray Summit, drove to destination, ran our shuttle, and on the water by 9am. Beautiful day...but fishing was slow. Through the tackle box at them, but they wanted none of the fancy junk we like to throw. A small Zoom Lizard and a Zoom Fat Albert Grub were the ticket for both numbers and size, followed by a small twin spin, and shallow cranks. Fished till around 8pm on Saturday, (we covered about 12 miles) and set camp..Wicked hot during the day, but it cooled off nicely, and Mike made some awesome Shrimp Boil Foil packs for dinner. Big bright full moon overhead. Broke Camp and on the water by 7am on Sunday. Some minor jet boat traffic, but not much. Lizard and Grub ruled the day again. Covered the remaining 8 or so miles and off at 2pm. Home for dinner. No giant fish, but good quality. Great trip.

Saw a big object shining to the right and slightly lower than the full moon last night From a gravelbar camp near Rolla.

Just got back from a 20 mile overnight float. Tossed a whole box of lunker candy at them and caught a few. Swimming a curly tailZoom Fat Albert or a Baby brush hog got eaten 8-1. 1/8 and 1/4 oz weedless heads. Anything with current. Anything with cover after jet boat wake( not many 3).

You usually want to fish in or near moving water this time of year. Usually where the current speeds up or slows down. Sometimes in the fast water in between.Wood, rock, current breaks where faster meats slower, changes in bottom or bank structure can hold fish. Throw at everything for the first mile or two and you will probably notice a pattern.

The Quarry Park campground on Norfork is nice. Water & Electric hookups.
