  1. Same here. We were headed down for a fishing/camping weekend, but will have to wait a few weeks now. Thanks for the information.
  2. Has the rain helped to drop the water temp yet? The nights aren't coolin quite as fast as I had hoped!
  3. WebFreeman, I believe profanity is not allowed on this forum! LOL Good luck to you and your team.
  4. Wow! That was amazing. Thanks for sharing that one.
  5. First the disclaimer, I don't know much about fishing. It seems as if I know less every day! If my redfin does not float and is under the water, I don't seem to get the strikes with it that I do when it wakes. I like oher baits for under the water. Shallow rapalas, Rogues, or even the husky jerk are a few. It sounds like an idea though.

    My Turn

I yearned to fish yesterday, but learned my lesson lastyear onL abor Day. I spent the weekend cleaning the boat, putting new line on reels and getting ready! I can't wait. I might even be too sick to work! See you out there!
  7. I wish I would have worn a large floppy hat. I am forty years old and had the first piece cut out of my face last year. I am coming up on the six month checkup. It isn't the bad stuff, but if anyone is willing to listen.....hats and sunscreen! Probably ruined my modeling career!
  8. Will do. Gracias!
  9. My family and I are headed down to the river on September 8th. I usually bass fish, but I was wonderin if the trout is still open then? I have a fly rod all rigged up that was given to me for Fathers Day. I will be a threat to anyone standing near, but not much of a threat to fish? Any advice on having some fun?
  10. Yaaaay! It has been slow for the last week or two for me. You did better than the day I hired a guide. He even used live bait on the front of the boat, while i fished plastic off of the back. Did they come up after the spoon?

    Camping

One of the cool things about Tyler Bend is the Rangers have an informational talk and slides. They do an informational thing on Sunday mornins at the river. The kids seem to like it. We went a couple of weekends ago. The Rangers kept the place pretty quiet. As a matter of fact.....they gave us a noise warning and all we were doing was setting up tents too late! There are also a couple of trails to hike. You can hike to the old Collier homestead and see some old buildings. There is a movie to see at the visitor center. We enjoyed Tyler's Bend for the family.
  12. Deadhead and I split the cost on Mike Webb today. We headed out at 6:00 Am and returned about noonish. We caught around ten fish with nine of them being keepers. One of the keepers was a white and the rest were Kentucky's. Water temps were around 83 degrees. There was little or no wind. At about 10:00 AM then the big boats and jetskis started, and provided some free waves. It was a good day. I learned about drop shotting. We could have caught more if we had red finned early in the day, but we were working on other techniques.

    Water levels

Thanks for all of the information. We did not end up fishing. We went hiking, geocaching, and floating. Most everyone I spoke to that was fishing, were using road runners and small craw colored tubes. Perfect place to camp.

    Water levels

I finally managed to get the day off work and we are heading down there tomorrow. It is suposed to rain down there all weekend, which is my favorite time to fish. It weeds out some fishermen. I'll let you know how it goes when we get back. Thanks for the tips.

What are you trhowing at the smallies? I have a fly rod, but I think I am going to take a spinning reel. Throw the old Mepps spinners? We are mostly float tripping, but I can't resist the chance to fish a little.
  16. Depending on what brand of fish you are looking for.....Aunts Creek has some pretty good bank fishing. When I used to bank fish, I would cast out as far as I could. Then I purchased a boat and would cast up against the bank! Seems like I could have saved a few bucks! I love my Skeeter though.

    Water levels

Thanks. I will keep watching the levels. We are going to camp anyway. I is impatient though!
  18. Are the rains and northern floods going to affect the Buffalo much this next week? We are going down in the middle of July. I see the levels are still pretty low currently, but wondered what to expect the next week or so. We are going to stay at Tylers Bend. Thanks.
  19. Thanks for again for sharing.
  20. Ay ideas on why Shell Knob seems to be easier to fish than other parts of the lake. I know Cape Fair is more challenging, but more rewarding on size. Is it pressure? Is it the types of fish that like each area? Is it that my fishing partner spit on all of my rigs and lures so the fish don't like them?
  21. Are you my next door neighbor Terry? Can you shut your dogs up too, please?
  22. The real fight was about drugs and drug money. There is a good chance their lives were wasted prior to the fifteen minutes of fame. I wish we could see some fighting over fishing. At least it would be about something worth fighting for.
  23. Thanks for the information. I might give him a call and see what kind of free knowledge I can get out of him over the phone. I do need to rent a teacher for deep fishing this summer. The spring guide helped me out quite a bit. Increased my fishing knowledge a hundred fold. One of my friends thinks I am pretty smart! Course I am the only one that feeds the dog, so she is probably just kissing up to me!
  24. I am starting to wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper to just hire a guide all of the time. The price of gas, tackle, rods, and electronics is crazy. I need to get some education on the electronics. I think that would help with the clear water of Table Rock and the deep fishing. Thanks for the information. I forgot to add....I think Webb is a Lowrance guy and he is pretty nefarious for his use of electronics. I am not brand specific yet on electronics. Now you can't hardly beat a Falcon rod!
  25. How much of a cash investment? I am not real brand loyal on electronics yet. I hate to start a Ford versus Chevrolet discussion. It seems like all of the depth finders use the same technology and basically the same parts. I know a more expensive depth finder with more sensitive settings will be better than the cheap ones that came with my boat. BUT; why would a Hummingbird or Lowrance be better than the other? It is kind of similar to computers and laptops. They all have the same Intel processors, the same companies make the parts and pieces in the computer that make them work. So really there isn't a huge difference in computers with similar innards.
