  1. It was down for me too. I thought I had said something wrong and offended the people who run the place, and was banned. Whetever I did......I am so sorry and it will never happen again!
  2. You crack me up. Are you related to Patrick McManus?
  3. I concur. I wonder what the wife would say to a new desktop background?
  4. Coordinates please! Mr. Beeson.
  5. I know that post was almost all deep fish talk and about Kentuckys, but I was wondering if you or anyone have been trying to throw some crankbaits with the high water?
  6. That could be my problem. I have been wearing shorts.
  7. I was a little concerned about the ethanol gas, but have been using it. Yesterday I had almost twenty more miles on the motorcycle tank of gas than I have ever had before. There could be a lot of different reasons, slower highway driving and so on. I have been driving ths same bike for five years though. I no longer have doubts about the ethanol and I purchase the Caey's gas. I wish I could pull the boat with my 45 miles per gallon motorcycle instead of a pickup that gets in the teens for miles per gallon.
  8. That information interests me! Thanks. I hope to be out tomorrow.
  9. Even though I agree with Silver Mallard, "this discussion is silly" I can't stop myself. If a clerk has a good description of the vehicle and driver....it has been my experience (as an officer) that a report with followup will be done. The Springfield Police calls this "quality of service". A detective is busy with felony cases and in general don't work misdo cases. A patrol officer will work the case very quickly. The plate has to be registered to the matching vehicle and in their jurisdiction though. MULES is where most of this information comes from, not NCIC. It would be a very bad idea to run someone in MULES unless it was your case or area. You could look at criminal charges or lose access to MULES. Criminal histories come from NCIC. They are very particular about those. I will share that the last three drive offs I worked....the suspect had a receipt, or proof that they paid. The clerk then could not determine who had really driven off. As to the issue of the clerk paying for the drive off. It is illegal to have a clerk work for less that minumum wage. If they dock her pay or charge her to the extent she drops below minimum pay...the company could be in legal trouble if anything was done about it. I use to run a C-store as well.
  10. It cost $109.00 to fill up my little Skeeter with a 90 horse Yamaha and my pickup. I can almost get four trips out of it if I am careful. I ride my motorcycle to work and only use the pickup for necesary stuff like pulling the boat. I wonder if they have a solar paneled boat?
  11. We put in at Aunt's Creek for the first time ever. We put in this morning at about 9:00 AM and took out at 5:35 PM. Rained this morning, and hotter than hades this evening. Water temps from 69 to 72. We fished points and pea gravel areas. We caught five nice keepers and a bunch of short fish. I love the fish doctor and I always seem to go back to it. There was no wind today at all, so I went to the red fin. We caught all of the keepers on the red fin. Most of the fish were real shallow. twelve feet or so. I also really like Aunt's Creek area. Nice, clean and I already had my year pass. We saw a humorous thing happen at the end of the day. We saw a man taking his stuff from his truck and putting it in his boat as we approached the ramp. My partner asked if he was ready, or should he back the trailer up. I told him to see if the other guy started backing up or was still loading his boat and decide from there. My partner backed in the trailer and I drove the boat onto the trailer. The other guy backed his trailer in as we were pulling out. He backed in and his boat floated off of the trailer and out into the lake! I told my partner to stop strapping down the boat so we could give the feller a hand. ( I have done similar things in the past). Before I could ask the guy if he needed assistance.....he gave us a look and jumped off of the dock and into the water. He swam to his boat and used his trolling motor to get it back to the dock. Man o man what a start to a fishing day for him!
  12. I'm learning as I go, but here is what I have learned about jig heads. The round ones seem to stay on the line a bit longer. I have tried almost all of them now. Most of the other jig heads seem to get caught up on rocks and trees and unseen jig breaking off things under the water! I mostly use jig heads that are not even painted now. I do like the white heads better. I put a red eye on them though. My whole jig box is almost filled with plain dull unpainted heads. Next winter I think I might start making my own jigs. I do like the gamak hooks best.
  13. Now I am hungry for some strange reason.
  14. Thanks! Will DO.
  15. After lurking on here for a while. I finally went and bought the Pentax K100D as well. Thanks for all of the info!
  16. I usually feel like my reorts are probably pretty dumb, but I post anyway. I figure I could give the experts a good laugh. Sometimes I start to post a fishing trip, and I find out someone else was fishing the same area and using the same tackle at the same depth. I don't do a second post that states "ditto for me." Beck posted his report for 05/01/2007. I used the same tackle and had caught them in the same places. So I don't do a ditto post. His fish were bigger for some reason. I think he had a better partner!
  17. Howdy Nixa Neighbor! Is that ramp fairly busy? I haven't tried that one yet. Why was the ramp out in the water? I know it is probaby a dumb question, but water levels aren't that high.
  18. I saw that you placed in the tournament. Congratulations! It was a fun tourney with a lot of top water action for us. The red fin was sweet! I owe you a big thanks for introducing me to it! Thanks. The only down side I saw to the whole tourney was that it was for a charity, and the Port of Kimberling still charged $5.00 per boat. I think they received a thank-you plaque as well. I have put my boat in there quite a few times lately and don't mind the $5.00 for non-events. The ramp is a lot quieter than it used to be. For a charity though....you think they might have opened the gates! We caught quite a few google eyes. What the heck are they?
  19. Partner and I went out today and I just got back. I am not sure how many we caught but it was in the lots to holy cow range. We caught almost all of them in 18 feet of water and on points. Nothing huge though, but quite a few keepers. We caught most of them on fish doctors and grubs. It didn't matter what color grub. I even used a silver and gold grub with gold flecks. Caught four or five with that one. It was fairly windy and I threw a spinner for a bit, but I didn't get anything on it. It didn't matter how fast or slow the retrieval. I am starting to think you need sun and wind for a spinner to be very effective. I used my new rain bibs, even though it only rained a few seconds. I wasn't cold or wet at all. My partner whined a bit though. A totally awesome day. Oh yeah... I put in at Kimberling. Water temp abour from 59 to 62.1
  20. I would vote for that!
  21. My friend put in at Cape Fair and caught over thirty crappie. One was 15.75" and another was 15". They were in thirty feet of water. Used a jig and a minnow.
  22. We put in at the Port of Kimberling. We threw everything at them we had! I mised one on a carolina rigged fish doctor. We didn't get anything else to bite. The wind died down and I think that hurt us a bit. Nice day though. I would do it again!
  23. Good Luck! Sounnds like fun. I like the idea of a boat with two fronts decks! Course I never know if I am coming or going anyway.
  24. Rudeness does not just relate to fishing. I have watched people sit for two or three minutes to get a parking spot at a shopping center and then someone take their parking spot. I use to cop in Alaska and actually handled a call where someone wanted another person arrested for "stealing" their parking spot. I could go on and on about all sorts of rude people at the gym...not wiping their sweat off of benches, using multiple machines or weights at a busy time, standing in the middle of the door and talking....and so on. My gym is in a church! Rudeness is a sign of the times. I live near two schools. When school gets out the kids walk right in the road and refuse to walk on the side of the road. I had one tap on my passenger side window with his finger. I had a talk with him, but he just stood in the road and had a stupid smile. As far as boat makers and new people on the lake. They make a boat for everyone. I love my Skeeter! If they want a Bass Pro boat...then good for them. They put some cheap packages together that you can upgrade as you go. I have owned an Alumacraft, Tuffy and a Lund. Hard to beat the Lund for quality. Did I say that I love my Skeeter though? If I couldn't afford a boat.... I would fish off of an inner tube. I am one of the new fisherman that is crowding your lake. My Dad never did take me fishing as a kid,(he worked a lot) but a friend did up on Rainy Lake about fifteen years ago. I was addicted right away. We didn't catch a fish that day, but I could see the thinking and planning that has to go into fishing. I was hooked, even if the fish wasn't. I moved down here to fish the area and plant some roots. I love this place. I am sorry for making it more crowded, but I promise to be respectful and fairly friendly to all others and the environment. I apoligize on behalf of other chilkoots in the area for any ruined fishing trips.
  25. Bill, That was a totally eye opening experience. I love that part of the lake! It is pretty. I have to get some more fishing training in the future, but I am going to do a bunch of homework first! For everyone else.....Bill doesn't make you fish from the back of the boat. He makes you fish the whole thing. One time he told me to cast a crank bait over his head. Pretty brave, seeing as how my casting accuracy is sort of like a shot gun! I refused to do it, seeing as how I will need future training. Plus he is pretty likeable. I still recommend hiring a trainer to get you ideas on working the water and what water to work. It is money well invested.
