That duplicated our night, although a few boats came in with multiple fish, just nothing real big. Maybe its an anomaly, but I think especially after dark with all the water that poured into the lake and decaying vegetation there is an oxygen depletion. I would venture a guess that the majority of fish were caught before 9.

I only have one report. A guy was putting his pontoon in Friday night at Cedar Ridge to put out lights. He said he had been out a couple days before and had three crappie and some small white bass from 9:00-2:30 using minnows. He was tying to a bridge pier.

Bagnell Dam is pouring out water and Truman seems to be responding. Maybe Stockton's time is on the horizon.

The best ramp is Cedar Ridge south. The courtesy dock is usable and the ramp is steep enough to float a boat.

May be a false alarm, but the lake has come down about an inch since midnight.

They told me 1973 was the record. I assume some of the marinas were not in full operation. I think the next highest was in the early nineties, maybe 1992

We had a good trip Wednesday eve, not as good as yours. We were fishing water with a little color and the depth 12-14' also. The few females we caught looked to be assimilating their eggs.

The majority of fish have spawned out. The post spawn light fishing is really good.

I am hoping you didn't go out in a boat yesterday eve. I was in a protected place in maze creek yesterday eve and didn't realize the main lake had gotten so rough I have a pretty stable boat, but it was tested to the hilt bashing into 3 and 4 ft. rollers going north to State park marina. The real excitement started when I tried to make the turn into the marina at the floating sea walls It looked like something you would see on the ocean with the waves battering over the walls sending spray 20' in the air. got soaked but feel extremely lucky. .

I tried that until the ticks sent me back out of the woods.

Thanks, I checked USGS and sure enough about 2 1/2 inches over the last 24. I kind of hope they will keep it high for the spawn.

I had some 64 degree water halfway between Ruark and CC Monday. Motored into Sons about 6 and had some 62 degree water.

I have been working hard on an addition to the cabin on the lake for the last month. From my experience for the last month after work, late evening is the only time I can catch any numbers of fish, so my contractor and I have been hitting the water about 6 in the eve until 8 keeping just enough for a good meal. I can't remember ever seeing the water temp jump so fast. A week ago we were fishing 54 degree water and within 4 days temps jumped to 64 in some places. The Lunes, water turkeys, and pelicans are congregated big time in open water around Ruark Bridge

Sons was flowing pretty muddy at the 39 bridge Tuesday evening. I'm sure it has pushed further down lake by now. The main lake by the dam was very clear Wednesday evening.

I hate to admit all my misadventures. Slipping and straddling the trailer tongue one night might have been the ultimate.

I have heard there was walleye in a pit?

Might check KDWP site for saugeye stocking. Kansas has a bunch of community lakes that are great crappie fishing and from time to time some get a saugeye stocking. I have been fortunate to catch a few exceptionally nice ones when the water is flowing hard. -
I saw a guy launching last year with one still attached. A site to behold

We had an extremely hard time finding crappie Saturday out of the same ramp. Caught about a dozen shorts and 5 keepers, which we returned to the water. We tried 12 different brush pile locations and found fish in only one pile in 18'. Fishing can sure humble a man, especially given how easy it has been to catch a good amount before the two foot lake rise. For one, the shad I had been graphing just were not there. Usually late winter there is a shad movement up river. It seems a little early for that, but I guess I'll give it a try and go looking Wednesday.

I wonder if the change in lake level ( nearly 2' in that time frame has had an impact)

Congratulations on a great day. The picture is an awesome comparison of a white vs. black crappie.

I had some luck Wednesday fishing 16-20' deep main lake brush in the Ruark area. Water temp was 45. Had 10 keeper crappie. 4 big white bass and a slew of short crappie. The fish were hanging just off the bottom so I tried to fish the outer edges of brush, dropping the jig all the way to the bottom , reeling about four or five turns then lifting and dropping the Bobby Garland jig.. A lot of the fish hit on the slack line, so I didn't feel those bites. Just felt heavy. I didn't catch them out of all the brush piles, but when I did they seem to be concentrated in a small area on the brush. Fished from 1:30 -4:30. Best of luck. I think you will do real good. There were a lot of boats way off shore, so I guess there are a lot of different depths and ways to catch them.

Southwinds has some larger full equipped rooms with kitchenette that will sleep around six. They have plenty of outside grills too. Crappie fishing is outstanding right now, so if your looking to clean fish they also have a fish cleaning station.

Even on the best or worst of days Stockton always seems to entertain. Yesterday started at 1 pm out of Ruark. I headed north of the Y bridge and found two nice keeper crappie in about 16' of water on brush. As seems to happen a lot I probed for another 30 minutes without a bite. Off to the corp brush up by point 5. No luck but watched 10 bald eagles perched in a tree above the sign. Now going on 3 I returned south into mutton creek and caught two more, then nothing. Someone was shooting a rifle over by where they winter all the campers. Then all hell broke loose. I guess someone set off a dynamite charge, but more probably it was tannerite. I had no idea they were that loud with that much concussion. Scared me to death, but my pants stayed dry. I picked up and went south a couple of miles and the bite really turned on in the last 45 minutes. Ended the day with 9, but caught a bunch of shorts, once again in brush in the 16-20' range. All on Bobby Garland blue/chartreus. Had one nice smallmouth right at dark. For what its worth I did better with the 9' rod than the 6'. I am able to reach out further and don't spook fish as easily in that shallow of water.
