  1. I saw that on tw yesterday! I imagine I'll test a few myself.
  2. Can we just claim grand lake and not include any other part?
  3. Great advice! This sounds like Saturday at grand for me. Not so much with lures but locations lender myself to a cobbled limit.
  4. Lifting you all up in prayer in Jesus' name.
  5. Any more most of my skipping is done with a roll cast. Not quite as precise but good distance.
  6. Praying for his family and friends.
  7. Some use a quality swivel to fight twist. Also I believe braid twists less so you could use it as a mainline and flouro as a leader. I'm getting ready to experiment with that myself. I've always used all flouro.
  8. Btw for now this ad is void.
  9. Thank you sir
  10. This was very well put.
  11. Kelroy has some good points, just not for this conversation. Otherwise he's correct. No the fish don't care what rod/reel you use. It doing its job in the most efficient way is what matters. If you're cruising points, flats, treetops, etc looking for fish on your graph getting the bait down quickly is what's important. A spinning outfit will do that better than a baitcasting outfit. Sometimes the "herd" does things a certain way because it's been proven the best way to approach that technique. Now with casting I'd say baitcasting gear since that's what you prefer. Vertically though, for reaching fish quickly, you won't beat the free fall of spinning gear. Btw, dropshotting and crappie fishing are about the only time I use spinning tackle.
  12. Get a good spinning reel that's at least 2500 size and be done. A fast fall can be the most important thing on a drop shot fishing vertically.
  13. I'm looking for a front graph. This ad will likely be up for a short time because I'll probably order a graph tomorrow. I just thought I'd see if any members had a deal first. Thanks
  14. Sold. Thx oaf
  15. MOPanfisher, pardon my ignorance but what connection do you have with the lake/lake level? Do you work for the COE or conservation?
  16. They did this a while back then corrected it. It's doubtful the lake could drop 1.5' almost instantly.
  17. IM
  18. I bought this on a whim just to check out the nfc blank it's built on. I've yet to build on a nfc blank yet so I was curious. Anyway I now need to get rid of this rod since I didn't need it in the first place. $150
  19. This very much!

    9/6/14

I put in at horse creek to get familiar with it as I've never been above the bridge. It started well with a 3.3 and 3.10 on almost back to back casts off a boat ramp using a square bill. It was a main lake one and they were maybe 1-2' deep. From there we went to fly creek and saw shad at the mouth but none beyond about a 1/3 of the way back which really surprised me. I fished about 2/3 the way back. I was just sight seeing. While in fly creek my trolling motor batteries confirmed my fear that they are in fact dying rapidly so no more than I got started my day was almost over. From there we ran across to a small pocket and caught a keeper suspended on the deep side of a dock. I love to catch them like that but again it came to see the creek not try to pattern fish. After that it was up the creek to see what it held. I shut down (per advice of my boss who's fished there before) before the bend that goes left or west. When I stopped it was 5' deep and quickly was 2' deep. I idled the entire width and the deepest was 2.6' deep. Now after that it dropped into a 4-5' deep gut and then back to 2'. I was hoping for a more define channel back there. I saw zero shad activity. By this time it was all my trolling motor could do to pull the boat. I wanted to go all the way to the creek mouth itself just to see it but no way was that gonna happen. So back to the ramp we went to drop off my buddy so I could make a solo run to check the difference raising my jackplate made. I saw 70.3 btw before having to set it down. To rough for speed runs but it bested my 69.5 lol. So again I was there just to scout primarily for the Oct. 11th GLAFC championship. So I was fishing (what little I got to) where I didn't really expect to get bit. This is the worst report in history but if you take anything away from it, there were shallow fish, not much in the back of anything, shad at the mouth of coves and creeks, don't freakin run beyond the bend(!!!) at least a few fish on docks and maybe a bunch but I didn't look much either, and finally my boat is faster now than ever and is still leaving more on the table. I need to try a 26 pitch tempest which surprises me for a 200. I planned on reporting on grand more this year but I've only prefished once and that was a partial day due to me feeling like poop. The plan is to prefish until the championship and the two days immediately prior. I'd really like to make a good showing.
  21. Wow I wish I was in the clients shoes on that deal!
  22. Has some wear on top but is a fantastic performing reel!!! Is spooled with 20lb tatsu. It's been on there a while but you can try it out never the less. $275 tyd.
  23. I like it when they come around.
