  1. Just curious, why do you not like hydraulic steering? I couldn't not have it personally. Well on a 150+ outboard anyway.
  2. I can't think of one reason why it would make any difference whatsoever. Maybe someone like wrench can chime in. That just doesn't add up to me though.
  3. Maybe we need to get some of them dang gobies down here.
  4. Quality plays a big role. Shooter 20lb diameter is .0146" and 10lb is .0102". Trilene 100% 15lb is .015 as is viscous 15lb. 10lb trilene is .012" Shooter is waaaaaay high but so far I love it. Tatsu is also a good line. Sorry if this was brought up. I kinda skimmed.
  5. I thought it was the gobies that brought the smallmouth boom on up there?
  6. Shoot I didn't mean si. I meant di.
  7. That would be a good deal esp if it's si.
  8. Strolling I guess with a bait suspended at the fishes level.
  9. Another thing I'm curious about is say the gfix gets down like they're saying, could you nearly vertical fish with it while moving just fast enough to keep it flat? Then you could target fish more specifically.
  10. I just don't see that happening on a slow retrieve. Now if you could care less about that then obviously it's as easy as making a heavier lure or as you mentioned earlier adding weight to the line. About the only way it could be done I'd think would be with a type of sinking billed bait and using line type and diameter to moderate the depth. As far as hard baits go anyway. I'll be curious of your opinion of the duo. I ordered one to try and may get the gfix version to use a heavier line or add depth.
  11. Well honestly I don't expect to ever work them in 30'. To get something that deep, retrieve horizontally and slowly at the same time would be tricky. Now the lift part is more what I was getting at with my question. With the line sinking it seems like it would aid that. Again though you'd be constrained to a limited depth. I have jerkbait depth in mind when I think of these.
  12. I wonder if you would have had better luck with flourocarbon with the baits lifting on retrieve and maybe a faster, deeper fall? Obviously I ask because flourocarbon sinks.
  13. Ok but where is it supposed to be marked? On the line that's under water? On the tree? Which end of the line if it needs to be tagged on the line? What if you hang on a trottline near one end, are you going to run the entire line just to see if you find a tag??? Would you want to be caught running a tagged line? I'm totally against abandoned lines of all types but some things need to be clarified if a guy is going to play the legal card to justify cutting a line. Believe me I get just as frustrated hanging into one.
  14. I don't see why this wouldn't be a dandy winter bait. That's where the line part worries me. 4-6lb line on a $15+ bait fighting a solid fish around cedars would be scary. Especially in a tournament situation.
  15. Or any docks anywhere for that matter. I mean, who fishes docks? Really? Besides when I typed docks I meant really deep cedar trees. Darn auto correct. Yea that's the ticket.
  16. I recommend flourocarbon for anything that doesn't float. Feel is better, hooksets are better, and there's the arguable benefit to how invisible it is in the water. I personally believe it helps. Even without the benefit of it disappearing under water the other advantages make it worth it. One thing I'll add is that I plan on experimenting with small diameter braid and a flouro leader. Yea I know I'm behind the times on that but it's hard for me to change from what works.
  17. I see. Well I ordered one. I hope it makes it before we go down there this weekend. I could also see this working around docks on suspended fish. Possibly anyway. The light line part bugs me about it no matter where I'm throwing it. I wonder if the g-fix would allow a bigger line?
  18. Btw thank you for the info!
  19. This may sound stupid but what would be the difference between this and slowly reeling a suspending jerkbait?
  20. Pulled or not I'm interested lol. We will be staying there next weekend a few days. I'd like to buy one of these before we go so I can list it in the classifieds when we get back.
  21. I've been thinking a grub on a wobble head could be a fun combo to throw.

That's not bad. Can you limit them? Or are you doomed to get hundreds of pics of coons, possums, and crows? Crows love deer corn.

You have to buy a plan for it to text pics right?
  24. I was going to mention that big tree by point 9. It's kinda out in the middle out from the north point of the point 9 cove. Basically left of the arrow in zaras post. If you stay left of center you should be good. It's a big sucker though. Btw point 9 isn't point 9 anymore.
