  1. external factors influence color choices as much as anything. water clarity, clouds/sun, etc... i would at least keep one natural color and one unnatural(chart, black, pink,...) ready to go. if the graph shows fish should be there, then i wouldn't leave the area without throwing at least 2 or 3 different colors.
  2. we put out spore logs a few years back, had really good production for a couple of years. it was fun.
  3. http://ozarkanglers.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/monthly_2020_09/imagejpeg_0(3).thumb.jpg.70f69042894f946c6784936144196e50.jpg Hey! i caught that largemouth!! seems like it always comes together on the last day.
  4. beautiful smallmouths
  5. what depth would you start at? or do you watch the graph for an idea of where they are holding at?
  6. big fan of Southwinds!!
  7. Keitech makes a 2" swing impact and ez shiner that are deadly on panfish. it"s about the only thing we use anymore for panfishing. on a 32nd oz jig, lights out!! Amen to that!!!
  8. Nice fish 10" bluegill are worth going back and getting crickets or red wigglers for. an ultralight and jumbo bluegill is a hard to beat combo!! top notch fillets as well! win win
  9. we were in the Kimberling area the beginning of Aug, and we had a big bluegill bonanza. the eastern point of Schooner creek, 25 ft, whole or half nightcrawlers. we caught giant bluegills, some really nice channel cats, spotted and smallmouth bass, and a few short walleye. lots of bluegill in the 10 inch range, it was a blast. good luck check out
  10. a topwater bite and fishin with the kiddos is hard to beat!!
  11. last week we were on them good in the Kimberling area. the eastern point of Schooner Creek was our best. whole or half crawlers, 25 ft deep is where we found the most consistent 9-10" gills. it was a blast. nice walleye too! and bass.
  12. well, didnt dedicate the time i was wanting to get a flathead. the BIG bluegill bite was too good. we caught a bunch of nice spots on crawlers while fishing for bluegill. also had half a dozen channel cats and my wife did catch a 23" flathead on a crawler while bluegill fishing. whole or half nightcrawlers right of the bottom in 25ft was the best bet.
  13. looks like i'm going to have to spend some nights hunting a flathead or 2. i know they get husky.
  14. Do any of you regulars know if it is worth the effort to try to find big blue cats in the Kimberling City area? gonna be down that way in about a month, and i want to try to catch a truly heavy fish. Are there big blues in that area of the lake? we catch the occasional channel and flathead while bass fishing, but never a blue that i can remember. just curious if anyone has ever targeted them?
  15. 3/4 or 1 oz brown jig with a craw trailer
  16. sounds like that agent was jerk. every time ive ever been checked they just make sure its close. i had one who didnt even take them out of his dip net. if it was in the ballpark, it was ok.
  17. thats a great day by my standards! how deep were you finding them?

  19. nice fish. bet that had you excited until you saw it! im trying to figure out whats going on with that launch! what a mess!
  20. is the pass valid at any Corps ramp/day use area?
  21. for me fish that size have always been so rare that its hard to count them in even anecdotal evidence. there may be less really big fish, ive never had any luck with them. and depending on how far back we are talking about, then of course. its just that my averages have stayed pretty consistant. personally, i would have to say that its getting better. thanks to everybody on here, it seems like i catch more and better fish every year. BUT...i dont have nearly the experience of most of the people on here. i am still learning new tactics and methods every year.
  22. call them whatever you want, the point is that for the last 30 yrs we have been going to the same spots and catching the same fish. we catch about the same numbers of the same sized fish that we always have. we didnt catch anymore "pigs","hogs","whoppers","lunkers","dinks", or "shorts" 30yrs ago than we do today. if anything we do better now.
  23. i agree. seems like there's a reason nobody fishes for them!
  24. i dont have the experience on stockton, but ive fished TRL the same week(give or take) in the same area(kimberling city) for nearly 30yrs, and some yrs are better and worse than others, but it has been very consistent. up to 18-19" bass yearly, with an occasional hawg 20"+.
