  1. she is up t 1122.5 and no generation showing. Maybe just maybe they will leave her up and we will get a strong year class
  2. Cut bait or bass minnows work good for the cats
  3. Same time, Millet will die-off faster so you have seed on the ground early and then the sunflowers will be about perfect opening day. BE SURE to follow the laws and any questions contact agfc http://www.fws.gov/le/what-is-legal.html
  4. PC does get a mudline so to speak but not like you would think. Its more of a mud along the shore from rain run-off. The creek itself is pretty clean when it hits the lake but brings a lot of nutrients in. If I was going catfishing I would be all over PC its historically awesome after a good rain. White bass not so much but cats its hard to beat for 1 to 5lb channels.
  5. Wishful thinking or do you have ESP??? LOL Nice day for sure
  6. Here is my deal with coolers, If your going for a day trip and not leaving the area of your car/truck then get a http://www.igloocoolers.com/Thermoelectric/All-Thermoelectric/Iceless-40-With-110V-Converter plug it in and its cold all day and for about 100 bucks beats any cooler out there. If you are going on a Weekend trip (SIZE) matters as you can only take so much and a 40qt to 152qt depending on space and people with a couple blocks of dry-ice will work perfectly fine just like they have for decades. What Yeti has done is make a "NAME" for themselves as a status symbol just like NIKE did or any other manufacture and they charge for the NAME. Because they know people will want to have the "Status Symbol" to show off. Do yourselves a favor, Buy a Igloo or coleman for a 1/4 the cost and spend the rest on the stuff to go in it.
  7. Largest cottonmouth I know of "Confirmed" by live measure was 5'-2'', death measurements are always suspicious as they can be stretched up to 20% in some cases. The Largest I have seen personally is a infamous one names PK for a reason at just over 4ft long and that snake was raised its life in perfect ideal conditions. The average Cottonmouth would be 18'' to 26'' in length based on all the ones I caught and or raised. King Cobras I wouldn't sweat even if they were here, slow as a rule and more likely to bluff than bite. Black Mamba would be my fear for aggression and speed would go to a Puff Adder. Neither in the US Wild. Of our snakes the only ones I have concern over is Pigmy Rattlers (they have Napoleon syndrome).
  8. I've done it years past for small patch, get a seed spreader and walk down a path Mark your right hand point where you start with a landscape flag go 100 yards and turn around and come back one spreader with right next to the row you started just like mowing.Mark your right side again, repeat proses till you are 20 yards wide when finished walk back over the area liberally tossing loose hay so it covers the seeded area do this the day before rain if at all possible. Sunflower is great and White Proso (millet) Several of the areas we would actually do a row of Prose and then triple space the next row and do Sunflower and repeat to give a good area for dove to land on the ground to feed and multiple feed sources. Also get a couple cheap plastic ponds from lows and put them at the ends of the rows and collect dead branches and place them 10yards from the ponds and keep the area well mowed. If you have tree's on the property set a blind up under them at the midway point of the field so you can shoot in shade and best is if it is on the East side so the suns not in your eyes in the morning. Yes ive built more than 1 dove field lol.
  9. Outside the obvious trout, Carp rates way up there. I see more and more people doing it, keep in mind this forum may have lots of "Members" but the vast majority are "Lurkers" that read what others are doing but don't share what they are but sure are doing what they read. The other fish though not as easily targeted is Stripers. Most people think of them as a surface bite only but a little white fly on sinking line 100ft behind the boat is deadly on them and been catching good numbers for at least 18 years now that I know for sure of. Originated on Lake Skinner in Southern California by Bob Slamal, Its now practiced on many of those lakes and it has also accounted for some very big bass.
  10. 2 Pair of doves, Pair of Cards and my Robins nesting in my Oak. Word to the wise Robins are smart and demanding, I started giving them left over night crawlers a couple months back and now if im in the yard I have a pair of followers everywhere I go. My wife just shakes her head at me when im out there being followed by them. Also a Squirrel that sits on the porch waiting for crackers every night. Wife came home the other day and he wouldn't budge she came in and told me about it I grabbed a cracker took it to him and she said STOP TRAINING THE WILDLIFE lol.
  11. ONE FINAL NOTE: TURN YOUR darn LIGHTS ON AT NIGHT! AND NO WAKE ZONE MEANS DONT THROW A 2 FOOT WAKE IN IT.
  12. I've been out almost each night this week and it has been good up until last night ( lots of traffic ) but more disturbing was the amount of boats running around with NO LIGHTS ON. darn hard to get a bite at night with boat traffic but dangerous running no lights WTH are people thinking.
  13. That could be a BIG (one-cast) catch
  14. LOL, don't lip that one.
  15. Haven't seen that episode Lance, but if the guy has a boat with the trolling motor mounted on the gunwale and the rods mounted on the other side then that's correct. In the old days before the motors they used oars to keep the boat sideways and before that (legend) has it the loggers in the PACNW use to do it off log jams, ( that is something I would have paid to see for many reason I respect those guys and the insanity they had to have to ride logs.
  16. Jason they have been side drifting for over 50 years on the Pacific coast and well older than that on the East coast. I seriously doubt spider rigging has been around that long because I sure know the modern bass and crappie boats and certainly the electric trolling motors haven't been around that long. There is numerous old articles about side drifting. its not some knew technique man.
  17. John for years guys have side drifted for crappie. Probably where spider rigging came out of. They would mount the motor on the directional side of the boat then set numerous rod holder off the other side. Boat would go over the fish and then the lines it was very affective for covering water with multiple rods ( I have seen old videos and pictures with a 16ft John Boat that had 30 rods out ) But control was an issue and that is where the spider rig probably came from. So you could have many rods off the front of the boat for better control. Side drifting is still practiced back east in rivers for striper and American shad.
  18. When I read people having bad luck with any battery I have to wonder how it was treated? Glen correct me if im wrong here but if people run them down all the time they only have so many cycles before they are shot and if people leave them in a freezing boat all winter or in a boat in the sun all summer doesn't that also wear them down faster? Mine sits in the garage and is recharged after each use and the power is cut from it to EVERYTHING until I turn it on the next trip out, winter I have a heater for the garage and it keeps it about 58 to 62 even on the coldest days and summer I have a fan in there that keeps it around 76 to 82 hottest days. And I seem to have no issues. So I always wonder the conditions the batteries are kept in.
  19. Snakes of Arkansas is a decent book Venomous snake keeping in Captivity is a good book. Southeastern Hot Herp Society good site http://www.venomousreptiles.org/ as is http://snakegetters.com/ For safety equipment go to http://tongs.com/
  20. There is no way to keep them away, but why would you? Snakes are apex predators that feed on a host of critters you would want less in your yard then them like (Squirrels that will tear up your house and yard ) Coons that do the same ( Mice and rats, we all know the damage they do ) and some of the snakes feed on insects that annoy us to no end. Best thing to do is get a snake hook and learn identification. Harmless snakes enjoy them and venomous snakes have a trash can and the hook handy. Put the snake in the can move it off the property and let it go. I am more worried about being hit by a car, struck by lightning and bit by a great white shark in the same day then being bit by a snake.
  21. Steve Meador and Aaron Stanphill 17.95 lbs like I said in the FLW Thread I would not bet against Meador guy knows the lake.
