Bill, you are correct on getting the best you can afford. I spent the weekend on Greers, a complete stranger to the lake but my electronics made it a very good trip. But having the best is only a fraction of the battle and I fear far to many people think Best = Fish! All the electronics do is show you whats below the water, if a person does not take the countless days to learn and intrepid what he is seeing it is throwing money to the outhouse. People tend to forget to pay attention to the shoreline and to figuring out all the other elements and blame the electronics for a bad day. I cannot agree more if your doing it yourself start at the battery and redo everything, speaking of that check those wires each year and if anyplace on them you see corrosion of any type replace the power and ground wires all the way to the unit, it is amazing how that overlooked thing will cause bad readings.

Just got back and settled in from a weekend over on the lake and little red. I was very pleased with the Walleye Fishing on the lake, I don't know it well at all so I cant give spots but I was working contour lines at 12 to 15 fow, Flicker shad work well on the lake but had to switch up colors and finally found that Black/Gold-Sunset was the best color. Went deep on them during the day using Cabelas Reef Runner style baits. Ended up with a bunch of nice fish from 3 to 7 pounds. Hit the little red as well for trout just below the dam and had a great time using the FOF and scuds, The quality fish were on the FOF, Ducky has a winning fly in those things. All in all a great weekend just to get away and rest.

It can depending on where on the lake you are. I have seen it really turn on fish up to point 5 but beyond there not so much. It creates current which in turn sets up feeding station on points more so then anything else. that's the quick explanation.

Setting The Record Straight - Government Contractors
Feathers and Fins replied to mic's topic in General Chat
Mic my poison would be honesty. I can see history repeating itself. Read our Declaration of Independence and see how many similarities there are too its grievances and what is happening now. I hear this current administration say ( Well Bush did it ) That does not make it right if he did, but that was also a time of shock and reaction to what happen on 9-11, It should have been reviewed and stopped if unconstitutional.Blame Bush is getting old heck its beyond old. And yes its a secret court when its rulings are secret. I am very concerned about where things are going. Like I said read the Declaration of Independence and see how many things are similar today. -

Ya'll are running that gas stuff in your boats? Come on there is a better fuel substitute. I cant say it on this site as it is family friendly but here is a hint.. Two oars.... two teenage boys strapped to the front of the boat...A long pole and a rope attach a 12 pack of their favorite gold colored drink... and hold on aint no bass boat will keep up with you.....

Shocking The Crawlers

Ok when I saw this title I had to double check it. I use to do it as a kid myself and have thought about it here. No reason it wont work if you can find a field. 12v car battery after the rain and some rods should do the trick be sure as you know to wear your rubbers. Although In retrospect I think a 55 gallon or bigger old ice shest might be safer. But thanks for a trip back in memory lane and a father and grandfather on this day that use to enjoy watching us kids get zapped -
Errr I can think of a few uses for that rod. Take the fly-line off it and use it as a mooching rod or catfish rod or even a trolling set-up for wipers and stripers or sinking line and a fly for walleye. Super sensitive tip im betting and could be used for a harness rod for walleye to see the most insignificant bounce. Think outside the box always

Who knows the secret court to give the warrants proceedings are secret... That in and of itself should scare the hell out of people that we have a secret court. -

What price liberty? Where is the warrants to gain this information? Enough we have a constitution for a reason and a violation of it in any name is still a offense to liberty. OK you say if you don't have anything to worry about then who cares. Ask those who visited France June of 1944 that question -

Mic, I have had goverment contracts there is no difference between a goverment contract and a personal aka civillian in my book except for the million regulations and other wonderful things you have to do to get the goverment contract. I dont see it as a goverment contractor issue but more of a "goverment" issue. Who the heck hires a high school drop out to handle the most important information for any company? That is pure stupidity let alone information that can affect a nation. The goverment is at blame! Even if the company said "ok" he has the skills and knowledge to do the job there are still redflags all over this guy from reports from all kinds of sources. The irony is the spys who are suppose to know the bad guys and see the redflags didnt bother looking in their own house. Makes you wonder what else is going on and no way to seperate this story from so many others going on now as there are links to each from each so its starting to appear. -

Is he a traitor? Jury is still out here. I doubt it is a shock to anyone with reasonable intelligence that our government is collecting data on everyone. What he has done is awaken many people who don't think about these things. The other thing he has done by making this a talking point at the forefront of Americans today though is make them think and wonder what other ties there may be. IRS Scandal could they have the same information its not a far fetched conclusion that if its on a government storage computer its possible. Bengasi, so many unanswered question but if the government has the information which again logical to believe they did then they lied to us at the onset saying it wasn't terroristic. Fort Hood shooting. His records could show him to have been a terrorist at what point with the government intel records ( phone internet ) it could turn this from Obongos " workplace violence" to Combat related giving those servicemen the purple hearts and benefits they should be getting. The scandals in DC and this current government is like a domino line falling down. How high does it all go? At one point I would have been telling people and did to put on their tinfoil hats and watch out for black helicopters and Drones. Now im starting to see as are many that they were not conspiracy nuts but actually right. This is waking people up and angering them. Finally now people are seeing Obamacare and what its going to do and doing! To many people in this country believe they are entitled to so many things I have had people say its in our declaration of independence and constitution. I just have to ask what the hell are they being taught in school or where are they getting these ideas. You are entitled to 3 things in this country you are protected by the bill of rights but our politicians are abusing the constitution and bill of rights! Honestly the only thing left from the Bills of rights left for them to mess with is putting troops in our houses. Grr there goes my rant -
Hey now if we are going to quote scripture lets use the right one. (Mark 16:17-18) And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Luke 10:19) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. I have met several of the snake handling pastors and even been to the churches. Very interesting people with deep faith, Highly intelligent people with a very unexplainable closeness to nature. If you have never heard of them do an internet search its pretty interesting reading. Go into it with an open mind not a religious thought and you will get a history lesson of Americana.

No Justin worked the Socal Boats. FL had my own boat and was much older and did not want to deal with the Condo-Comandos! Your insurance company would rather pay-out then fight that's nothing new for insurance companies but doesn't make it right. Put up the signs and have the law on them. I mean seriously what if someone gets stung by a bee or a tick latches on are you going to have to pay for those as well. You relies you have the right to tell the insurance to fight it. People go in to nature there is a reasonable expectation they will encounter it.
-
Justin you cannot control where nature roams placing a few signs may release you from payouts. I have seen other areas do it and a few people tried to sue and the judges pretty much told the one suing to go pound sand. Get some Midwest Tongs they are safe for the snakes and keep you safe then you can remove them easily. Oh and hate to say it but if a snake falls in the boat with me his butt is getting caught. .

Hook In Finger (Picture Attached)
Feathers and Fins replied to Tully's topic in General Angling Discussion
String trick works well if the barbs not in. If it is doing the string can do more damage, my latest was all the way to the bend of the hook and no way would the string worked it had to be pushed out and clipped. Do-it-yourself medicine is at your own risk and it can cause more damage. Lord knows working party boats for years I have seen and been hooked a few times, the value of a great first aid kit is beyound doubt and keeping up on tentinus shots -
The " Realistic " exception is a joke. I have dealt with more snakes venomous and nonvenomous than I can count. If you see a snake dont mess with it simple as that. If it is in a location it must be removed from there are ways to do it safely. I taught many people to take a simple trash can and broom and get the snake in it to remove it from houses. In yards simply leave it alone. In the wild leave it alone. Many snake bite envenomation every year come from someone killing it then picking it up, they can still inject the venom after death. Go to this link and see if its worth getting bitten. http://www.venomousreptiles.org/libraries/Snakebite%20Photos better to leave it alone than deal with the aftermath.

Fear of snakes is biblical and hereditary! It is hard to convince someone that has been raised in a religious family that snakes are not bad. Im not kidding or making this about religion I have seen it and seen the surveys and thesis papers on it. It is instilled in a person deeply and not easily overcome. It amazes me how people are so afraid of snakes which are typically harmless unless messed with yet watch the person do dangerous things all the time. The list of venomous snakes is very small in compare to non-venomous in our area and odds are the snake you see is non-venomous.
