  1. Already is, Mo actualy addressed the A-RIG Home » Fishing » Fishing Regulations » General Fishing Rules Alabama Rig Regulations Photos Modified Alabama Rig Legal Alabama Rig Standard Fish Hooks One-Hook Lures Illegal Alabama Rig The Alabama, umbrella and similar rigs may be fished in Missouri so long as they use only three lures or baits. The remaining attachment points can include similar baits so long as their hooks have been removed or other hook-less attractors such as spinner blades are used. The Wildlife Code of Missouri is written in a manner that can address most, if not all, fishing innovations as they come along. This is the case for the Alabama, umbrella and similar rigs. This rig is intended to be fished using a rod and reel, referred to as pole and line in the Wildlife Code. NOTE: Please see Regulations and Permits Definitions under Related Information below for a full list of the terms used in the Wildlife Code of Missouri. Pole and line is defined in rule 3 CSR 10-20.805 (44) in the Wildlife Code: Pole and line: Fishing methods using tackle normally held in the hand, such as a cane pole, casting rod, spinning rod, fly rod, or ice fishing tackle commonly known as a tip-up, to which not more than 3 hooks with bait or lures are attached. This fishing method does not include snagging, snaring, grabbing, or trotlines or other tackle normally attached in a fixed position. What is important to note is that this definition limits the pole-and-line fishing method to no more than three hooks. We all have a picture in mind for hooks. However, we also have a definition for hook in the Wildlife Code 3 CSR 10-20.805 (30) to establish what we consider to be a hook for regulatory purposes. The use of a definition allows us to address various fishing innovations through time without specifically having to name everything that comes along. Hook: Single- or multiple-pronged hooks and the ordinary artificial lures with attached single- or multiple-pronged hooks and dropper flies. A multiple-pronged hook or 2 or more hooks employed to hold a single bait, shall be considered a single hook in counting the allowable total in use. The Alabama rigs we have seen have more than three wires and attachment points. These rigs may be used but only with up to three hooks. (Each bait or lure counts as a hook.) The additional wires and attachment points can be used. However, whatever is attached may not include a hook. You may also clip the extra wires and attachment points off or not use them at all. Discussion of the Alabama and similar rigs often includes a discussion of the absolute maximum number of hooks one angler is allowed to use. Rule 3 CSR 10-6.410 (Fishing Methods) sets the number of poles and hooks. (2) Number of Poles and Hooks. (A) Not more than three 3 unlabeled poles and not more than 33 hooks in the aggregate, for any or all methods, may be used by any person at one time. ( On the Mississippi River, not more than 2 unlabeled poles and not more than 50 hooks in the aggregate may be used by any person at one time. While fishing concurrently on the Mississippi River and other Missouri waters, not more than 50 hooks in the aggregate may be used and not more than 33 of those hooks may be used in waters other than the Mississippi River. While the absolute total number of hooks is either 33 or 50, depending on whether you or not you are fishing on the Mississippi River, the number of hooks allowed for pole and line is further restricted by definition in the Wildlife Code. The current interest in the use of Alabama rigs is noteworthy. Some of the conversations would lead one to believe they are always fish magnets. Time will tell. Plastic worms and electronic fish finders have not produced negative impacts to our bass populations. Fortunately, we have length and daily limits to protect such sport fisheries. We will continue to monitor the use of Alabama and similar rigs and will take action should it be warranted. In the meantime, we will appreciate the excitement this new rig has brought to fishing.
  2. Artificial Lure—A lure constructed of any material excluding soft plastic bait and natural and scented bait defined in (A) or (B above. By the reading of the regs that appears to be a lure ( multiple hooks but a single lure so by deffinition a single hook and a teaser with a single hook so only two hooks by deffinition.
  3. How is it illegal. I only see two baits there?
  4. LMAO. Yup Branson. I have a deadly weapojn against them. It is called the Father-in-law! My wife informed me that if I mention to him that they could also help sell him a boat or gun he can tie them up for hours (its true) my father-in-law is the most curious man on earth and once you set him on something he doesnt give up. By the time I was ready to leave BPS Branson he had three of them tied up at the Boat section and they looked like they were in great fear for their lives. Apparently It made an impression because now when I go in their they scatter to the four winds not to be seen...
  5. Quill, if you are talking about on Hunts Property I seriously doubt it I beleive that property already has a board up with whats going to be on it. Thinking just more of a extension of whats already in that area shops malls etc
  6. Reading the Tablerock forum and the Beaver Tailwater Forum wil really help you on where to fish and how. Ask questions this aint a normal fishing site you will get real answers from guys and not BS lies.
  7. I can see Aug 30 to Sept 2nd its a holiday weekend I beleive.... I'll be busy with Cast n Blast 2012 Thanks for the update
  8. I never used a lighter, use a hair dryer it takes a little longer but more uniform and wont melt the line. I also use the tubing for adding weights to my hooks and lines as well as rattles. For instance on a 5/0 Hook i will add 1/16 to 1/4 oz lead stick to the center of the bend of hook and a rattle just above it toward the eye and then shrink tube it to the hook.
  9. Sara on a Jetski in a speedo wouldnt bother me
  10. Ok maybe its the meds im on now but I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ( PHIL, DUANE and BILL ) On jetski's in speedos at the Dam night fishing.
  11. GNS, When I used Braid to leader I used a Bimini Twist on the braid the loop on the Bim was pulled down on a small pin of near the same diameter as the mono/floro i would be using. I would then use a Palomar or Fishermens knot to join the two and crazy glue them... If it was for saltwater I used shrink tube on the knot first filling the tube with crazy glue and then shrinking it down depending on size of line or species i was after. I can count the number of fish I have lost due to knot failure on a closed fist. Most people just dont want to take the time to tie a bimini.
  12. Joe it is because people keep trying to improve or find a something else just because. For line to Hook if the drag is set right and the line and knot are checked regularly then one is as good as another. It is kinda like Decoys for duck hunting. You can buy and use good ones that work for 110.00 a dozen or you can buy ones that are designed to catch the hunter for 400.00 a dozen.
  13. OB, its not that some are better than none, its more Politics need to be checked at the door and do what needs to be done which is re-introduce them and let them be ELK! I could think of nothing I would like more than to one day be sitting on one of the lakes or rivers and hear Elk sounding the cry with loons calling as well. Those two calls seem to represent Wild America to me, just as much as every fall you can hear the geese migrating. Some sounds should be heard and heard from all areas not just one. Some things need to not be political or experimental with restrictions but be done and let free for all to enjoy! Could you Imagine the AR Elk heard and MO Heardss meeting up and being throughout the Ozarks. I tend to think much larger then just an experiment for a few to see.. I look at, they were here one time lets bring them back again, the Ozarks would be a better place with them running free for all to see.
  14. Very Nice day. Beaver is going to be a good walleye lake if the spawns stay good.
  15. Guys I can understand wanting to have the ( woodlands ) problem I see and have from day one of this experiment and that is what it is! Is this. If the animals are not allowed to roam which is what elk do and instead are killed when they leave the reservation, what good is it? Sorry If I offend anyone but its pure stupidity to introduce or re-introduce an animal species in the name of conservation when you will kill the things for leaving where you stocked them.. Could anyone have imagined what would have been the outcome if Turkey, Deer, Gator, P Chicks etc were only allowed to be in one area or face killing for leaving it. If you want to support this then fine. But under the currect rules its not conservation nor a re-introduction, it is a zoo nothing more.
  16. Big Foot, Ozark Howler,
  17. Ya I am in the "WHY" Crowd myself, 400 Elk if that is the target goal is just not something I can get behind. Either total restoration and by that I mean ( free roaming groups ) and a Viable sport Hunting season in time, or just put them in a few Zoos so people can see them.
  18. What about the poor Brownies lol
  19. You know I fish by myself most the time, I can have my boat launched in out of the way of a ramp in minutes and loaded just as fast. But I see people all the time who wait until they get to the ramp to get ready. I watched this group at 12 bridge ramp 2 weeks ago, they showed up and started unloading stuff from 3 trucks to the boat. I pulled around them with anouther boater and the of that boat came and told us "we cut in line" I looked at him and said next time get ready before you get to the lake or better yet launch the boat then beach it and load up so you are not in peoples way.. He was in the parking lot not the ramp. but didnt like the fact people went in front of him. I watched them finally 30 minutes later launch after 8 other boats launched. When they ran out they had Beer-a-flowing and 12 people and gear all piled into a 16ft Tahoe. Hope they made it wherever they were going. And again Ill go back to where the _ _ _ _ is law enforcement on our waters! I swear we should all save these threads and when people get injured or killed on our local lakes send these threads to the Media. I hate to say it but i really think its going to take shaming the PD's into acting. I have watched boats over-loaded, to young a driver, not adults on boats, drinking and boating, Full speed trhough bouy lines, swamping smaler boats, weaving in and out of boats ALL in the last few days. 1 just 1 OFFICER could write tickets all day and the word would get out... I know they like to warn because they dont want to ruin peoples good times BUT good times get people killed by the good time people.
  20. Wait a minute Mitch.. For Bass species it would be Striper, Wiper and white! Largemouth and Smallmouth are Perch lol... so if its a perch contest can we enter Walleye sorry couldnt pass it up.
  21. I was working the flats at Horseshoe bend and in front of Monte Ne in 17 to 20 FOW for the walleye, the rest were caught in Monte Ne in 12 to 15 FOW... Weight is not the problem. I blew my back out 23 years ago, had the choice of surgery to repair the three bulged disc or keep my weight down, i hate knives. I have to laugh I quit smoking last week cold turkey to get myself in better physical shape. Then this happens lol
  22. 3 Walters, 13'' 16'' and 28'',,,,, 20 assorted bass,,,,,, 12 whites,,,,,,,, 2 hybrids and then for good measure somehow blew out my back getting in the truck great day of fishing but now its time to see the doc tomorrow when they open up I can barely walk right now a rock slipped when i was getting in the truck and OUCH.
  23. Never seen them around here for bait or sale to my knowledge. Best two baits I know of around here for them are Shad and Chubs when it comes to live bait.
  24. I havent pulled crawlers in a bit... Those I pull more in July, Aug... After Aug its back to Striper Chasing
