    Chowder!

I have several but think this is my favorite ( walleye crappie and striper ) 6 Slices Bacon, Baked in the oven at 350 for 20 minute then break it up 3 Tbsp real butter 1cup celery chopped 1 Vidalia Onion chopped ¼ cup all purpose flour 4 cups milk 2 cups red potatoes cubed 4 walleye Fillets cut in to chunks 2 Tbsp Parsley Salt and pepper to taste Heat butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the Celery, Onions and Parsley, sauté until soft. Add in flour to form the roux and slowly whisk in the milk. Add the Potatoes and bacon and stir. Reduce theat to a simmer for 30 minutes. Add in the fish and cook for an additional 8 to 10 minutes. Salt and Pepper to taste.
  2. Turd the fish was put on a Golden Rule and hit 22 with me holding the bottom lip on the upturn of the ruler. I posted the picture with the ruler in it for that reason so people could see it was a legitimate fish because bass anglers like to say a fish isn't as big as the angler may say. Your fish is nice for certain but 22'' on a ruler doesn't lie and neither do I. Oh well 1st post to the board by you so welcome.
  3. Not sure what you are wanting to do, I built some this year our of camo burlap that is portable then went to home depot and bought grasses and such for it. My goal was concealment, portable, wind resistant ( use a tarp on the inside for it in strong wind) and something that I can wash off if needed and dry in the garage between trips. What are you wanting to build with it / use it for?
  4. Ok I have been on this pattern for a week now, Bottom depth is 25ft with them suspending in 22 to 17ft and bait fish suspended in 15 to 10ft. Working a white War Eagle 7/8th oz spoon at 18 to 16ft around the bait has been producing some very nice fish. This is not a 20 or 30 fish type bite my average is about 7fish per trip 6 to 9 hours average trip time. But the fish are going from 16 to 22 inches. Here are a Pair from today 17'' 22 ''
  5. Very nice. I almost called you to see if you were on the rock or wanted to join me on Beaver, I got a great bite going on good fish on the spoon around open water bait.
  6. Been hearing the specks and snows since last night.... heard a bunch today on Beaver and saw a Bunch while I was abusing the Bass
  7. I am an old scull boater, layouts are for this new generation lol. I still get a kick out of sneaking up on a giant raft and they never know your there till its to late. Im going to get a new one built for me next year in the fashion of the Great Salt Marsh boats.
  8. Sighhhhh Honey Do list here as well... But you do need to come by the house and get that chip.
  9. It would for motor boats running the entire length but with access points it would give motor boats the ability to still play in all the areas minus the dam area zone which would be for bank angling mostly as its a small zone. If Branson was to get in on the project I bet they could build working mills and other 1800's style near each weir like mini Silver Dollar cities with glass blowing mill works etc etc
  10. Dylan I will be honest with you. I wouldn't put anything small on the lake except in Nov to January and at that its still a risk. Wakeboats are out later than ever this year and a small row boat could prove harmful. That said if they do get in the back of Prairie Creek or Avoca it would be safer, I have though on a few occasions but my boat between a Kayak or Canoe because of some of the idiots out there who just don't care and think its funny swamping a small boat or just are to stupid from their dads lack of attention to the belt being used to know better. If you do I suggest early in the morning and off by 11am... Yes you could do it but use caution.
  11. If they took out Powersite and they wanted to have a incredible trout striper and walleye fishery they could build ( weir dams ) on the upper sections. If it was me planning it I would install one at 1/4 mile below outlit 3 then another 2.0 miles below the dam and a thirds one 6.5 miles from the dam and a final one 9.0 miles below the dam.... These would allow with a upgraded minimum flow requirement constant waterfalls which would help with oxygen and act as fish ladder while helping keep stripers out of the upper 10 miles but still allowing for them to be near the main tourist attractions in Branson specifically Bass-Pro. The Basspro weir would give anglers the chance at trout and striper A Win for Angler's a Win for Tourist Money for them and still preserve and probably enhance Taney's trophy trout possibilities.
  12. Not before I get my angry birds rattletraps though!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Middle the DD crowd is all over its a catch 22, more hunters is good for our voice politically but bad for us in the field as far as the things you mentioned. Many of these new hunters have had little to no mentoring other than what they see on the shows and those shows to me by in large are not what hunting is about. I don't know the last time I saw one of them not get a limit and really cant think of the last time I didn't hear whooping and hollering at the shooting and seriously how many shots does a single bird need to bring it down I counted 11 on a recent show for one bird. We as more mature hunters can take the time to try and talk to these youngsters ( I have tried but many have the entitled attitude or me attitude ) or we can hunt mid week or nasty weather day ( they really don't like bad weather days )
  14. Um that one worked today but mine said Coke
  15. Randy I cant speak for Marty but when I shoot anything I want the backstraps left alone to be cooked by themselves, the Hind quarters I will typically make in to strip steaks on one side roast on the other, the ribs depending on amount of meat will get served as ribs or made in to hamburger with the neck and the front quarters I make Jerky with. If I plan to shoot multiple one will always become mostly hamburger and summer sausage though, I try to take at least 3 a year to hold me over for the off season.
  16. Mylar and Dyed Deer Tails
  17. Hot Pink with little bows and sparkles
  18. This is simple and easy If you want white bass Launch at Prairie Creek........ Point boat north toward Avoca......When your graph blacks out in 40ft of water it is because of the white bass..... Baits to use...... White fly 7/8oz War Eagle spoon in white.... 1/2 XPS spoon in white..... 1/2oz rooster tail in white.... Bobby Garland Crappie Jig in white... are ya seeing a trend yet lol.
  19. Great Buck my friends but now what are you going to do for your lovely wife And more to the point Whats the Duck Park looking like?
  20. Welcome and you are in a good area, Ducky will probably jump if his new boss the Slave Driver will let him and he can tell you all about the rock.
  21. October 24, 2014 Water temps 62 to 68 Lake Level 1115.10 and falling Air Temp; Lows - Mid 50’s to low 60’s Highs low 80’s Sat,Sun, Mon then a front comes through dropping temps to the low to mid 60’s Rain Monday 20% and 60% Tuesday Stripers; I have had reports of striped bass all the way up to Hickory Creek already and reports around Pt5. They are scattered and moving around frequently. Trolling will be the best way to locate schools then stop and drop live bait in the area but give it no more than an hour and repeat process. White Bass; Again these fish have been caught just north of Hickory creek down to about Coppermine, Most are being caught trolling Flicker Minnows, Flicker Shad, A-rigs and Spoon. The trick is to catch them trolling then drop a spoon to them and stick with the school. There has been some whites up to 3pnds caught this way. Hybrid’s: Same scenario as above but concentrate on the edges or below bait. Crappie; They are turning on over flats and open water some as shallow as 10ft. Use ½ spoons, PJ Finesse jigs, Bobby Garland crappie jigs or Minnows from 10 to 18ft. They are moving most shallow in the afternoons to sun. Find Bait and fish around it or troll Flicker Shad in size # 5 and 6 to locate schools Catfish; Slow troll crawler harness’s in 15 to 30ft channel and blue cats are hitting them very readily especially around the mouth of Monte Ne to Eden Bluff and Near Horseshoe Bend and Rocky Branch. Bass; Top-water bite early has stayed strong on Zara Puppy, Zara Spook and Buzzbaits, as the sun rises switch to suspending baits and flukes or drop shots. Evening has been producing some very good bags up river on spinner baits, buzzbaits and square-bill cranks.
  22. Soarthumbs brother you need to go to Hobby Lobby and get a shadow box made with them in it. I recognize some of them from my grandfathers collection but don't remember the names but true classics.
  23. Not bad for a short trip at all and good eats to boot.
  24. Should have come up to Prairie Creek with the rest of us only took you what 5 minutes lol.
