When I saw them the first thing that came to mind was (thin fin) and that was at one time one of the best trolling baits and still IMO one of the best. It had major limitations however that the flicker-shad addressed. First the flickers are smaller, second they dive deeper, third more colors, fourth cost. They are a trolling bait but can be thrown on a 7'6 spinning rod or larger using light line 4 to 8lb with decent accuracy and control. I don't like expensive baits when something is out there that works better and doesn't hurt as much when you loose one and you will with these the hooks are razor sharp and like to snag things. But hey the things is where the fish are so if your loosing them your probably catching fish. The sizes really tailor to the species and have overlaps where they work very well on multiple species. They are a lure you really need to know your boat so you can present the right amount of line out to achieve the best depth or desired depth. For casting a standard cast is fine but you can pinch the back treble and sling shot it under docks and that drives bass and crappie insane.

Fish Species Caught On A Nightcrawler (Parody)

I honestly felt like I back Bass tournament fishing I haven't moved so much in years. Started at Beaver shores and lost one very big walleye (Est) 8lb class at the boat, you have to hate when you say to yourself when you see a fish he aint hooked good and at the same time he proves it. Then ran to Blackburn and picked a bunch of decent 2 to 3 pound bass off a dock and by off a dock I should note I was tossing a crappie jig way under it thinking at first they were crappie. Blackburn didn't yield anything else even though I think all the striper guides were there. Went from there to the islands at 12 bridge for nothing and then ran to HSB to check, Whites were in good numbers and I played with them for a while Doc informed me of a rumor of walleye someplace else and I swore I was not making the run. Never swear to yourself because you end up making the run. I did and it was way up the White River Arm, I did catch a few but they were short also caught a ton of whites but if you don't have good sonar don't bother if it wasn't for that there is no way I would have caught them in that mud and debris infested water. I had enough of the wind and cold and came home not to unhappy but sure wishing for warmer days and clearer water. Maybe in a few weeks things will be better but if I see a ground hog I'm swerving to hit it or putting a 40cal in its head.

Fish Species Caught On A Nightcrawler (Parody)
Feathers and Fins replied to bfishn's topic in General Angling Discussion
Ok I gotta play on this one.. Weirdest catch ( Fish )on a night crawler was a 15lb Bull Shark fishing for bass in a canal in FL. Weirdest catch non-fish was a raccoon, baited the hook and mother nature called and when I came back from doing my business the bandit had ate it and hooked itself, that was a reel mess. -
If you want a Striper you will have to make the run, they are concentrated from Monte Ne up the river. Walleye you can Launch at Houseman access below the dam and try for them in the tailwaters down to Holiday Island. Crappie will be moving up to spawn but you are in the deep water section of the lake and it wont be as good as areas up lake. I honestly don't even think about fishing the Dam area until June/July. Especially if I am wanting Striper... There is a possibility to get walleye on the dam this time of year but be ready to loose more gear than hook fish.

Don't you have enough already!

Your best bet is pt12 and go up the white river arm from there. I went over 412 bridge earlier and saw timber in the water and chocolate milk water. It may clear up a bit by then if we don't get another super soaker.

Hot spot maps will show you where the points on the lake are, Point 12 is 3 miles upriver from Hickory creek and 3 miles down river from war eagle marina where the white and war eagle arms come together.

White Bass Down Towards The Town Of Beaver
Feathers and Fins replied to glennL's topic in Table Rock Lake
You are talking about some of the best Walleye water around when you talk about Beavertown, Whites also get in the area as do Crappie and a few miles upriver it is possible to lock into a very large striper not to mention there is the trout they eat as well. You might want to check out the Beaver Tailwaters section on here. -
Its all about reading the water. I have had great surface bites in the middle of winter and never saw the hard core boils people think of when they think of top water, what I may have seen was subtle push of water that indicated a large school of fish chasing bait, or seen bait disturbing the surface. It is subtle things that tell me about the fish. Best thing I could say is read books on surfing, surf-fishing and open ocean fishing. Not the ones so much with pictures of fish but the ones that teach about reading the water how they found those fish. Youtube has some nice videos also.

I will throw them at the same time I throw top-water poppers, and that is when I see fish pushing the surface or busting bait on the surface. Let the fish tell you what they want.

Hey you resemble that remark.

I have never met a legal Walleye yet that didn't deserve a hot oil bath.

No pictures Mark, how many could you take of whites anyway lol, I did take a livewell shot but it only showed a pair of the crappie I had and was designed to torment a certain member who didn't get on the lake JOE; Learn to answer your phone or call back, I had a ton of bait in my tank I would have shared. Although the laugh for the day was the luckiest white in the lake, Apparently my basketball skills arnt what they use to be but a 20ft shot at a ice chest in chop is a difficult. Perhaps I should have football threw it.

To the point, well point 12 that is. Whites in good numbers, Crappie in decent numbers, Stripers with Tail Disease. It was a zoo to say it politely out there today but the fish were there and were biting, Flicker shad, Live shad and 1/2 spoons in 18 to 35 fow. What this storm will is the big question.

Here is a fun one for you Phil. A guy is married to his 2nd cousin by marriage.... For example; Say my Uncle by blood marrys his second cousin by marriage still his second cousin that makes my Aunt my 3rd cousin and still my aunt. It is more common than people want to beleive. It was very common at one time and in certain areas still happens even unknowingly. I know a guy that married his third cousin they didnt know each other didnt even know they were cousins until someone in the family did the geneology and discovered it. Boths roots came from Tennessee but they were living in Chicago when they met and married.

Potential World Record Spotted Bass
Feathers and Fins replied to Quillback's topic in General Bass Fishing Discussions
Quill, the one that makes me saddest and sometimes almost to tears is the Salton Sea. So much of my youth was spent on it hunting and fishing and just enjoying it, now its a dead sea for all purposes. Corvina are gone from all accounts and pretty much just tilapia left. -
Potential World Record Spotted Bass
Feathers and Fins replied to Quillback's topic in General Bass Fishing Discussions
That's the one that apparently ate a trout. It was a pretty lake growing up, only about as big at the area around the islands at 12 bridge but plenty of fish in it, super clear and clean, but now it apparently has diapers floating in it during the summer its down 56 feet and smells horrible. Population increase and the lack of respect for the resource out there has turned beauty in to an outhouse.
