Here’s a clip I did from 2016 and aired this locally here at home on local tv when we was doing the show. Richard cross the jig master was nice enough to let me Throw a jerk bait in his boat 😂

Last Sunday was a banner day for my son and I. My father In law had a birthday and wanted to spend a night at the blue bank resort on reelfoot lake. My wife had it all planned and I didn’t know if I could go till we got the harvest completed last Friday. So Saturday we went up there and fished some and spent a night there by the fire and eating well. The next day we went back out on the water and we were starting to figure out the Crappie and caught a pretty good mess of them. We left that afternoon and got home about 2 o’clock and my son was all over me to take him deer hunting as it was you season here in Arkansas. I wasn’t overly fired up to do so as I was kind of tired but I was going to take him anyway of course, anyhow we got in the stand it wasnt there 10 minutes and started seeing action. We watched the same group of deer for about 30 minutes thinking they’re not going to get close enough, but about that time a buck came out From our left side And presented a shot a guy would take any day and twice on Sunday lol. Anyhow my son got the deer and we had a great day and weekend in Gods creation. Hard to beat slabs and deer in the same day! God bless Bret.

Yes they brought the fish down trying to find someone to take it and it wanted to eat it it was a certified dandy for sure… Was proud of my boys they did good they should have gotten third place if it had not been for my mishap in the live well -

The boys first stop on the Arkansas youth bass nation trail was on table rock this weekend! None of us had ever been on this lake so we were anxious to see if we could figure things out! It worked out here at work to where we could get up there about noon Saturday and practice, turns out none of us caught a single fish as I was hung up on deep water looking for the bass. So when we launch yesterday morning I was as confused as ever As to what they should do… So I said boys tie you on a top water bait And we’re going to hit coves and look for the shallowest water we can. They were only getting about a good bite every hour to hour and a half but they stuck it out all day and brought in some decent fish I was very proud of them. As their boat captain I made a rookie mistake or something like that as I was sitting and watching and I guess bored, Open the live well as I was seeing how that oxygenator was working in the Vexus. I was admiring how it was working and at that time they had two bass in there, Anyhow a two pounder in there got startled and rocketed against my arm used it like a ramp and launched right out the side of the boat, needless to say I was pretty mortified about it LOL! My son was mad at me for maybe 2 minutes, Then he said suck it up dad we have fish to catch ha ha. Well turns out they did pretty well they was in fifth place when we left there were 20 boats in their junior division 70 total. I guess they will post how they did later today as we didn’t stay to the end, but the main objective was accomplished however it turns out, memories were made and we learned a lot about table rock lake, I cannot wait to try that lake again! God Bless. Bret

Another high school tournament
LittleRedFisherman replied to LittleRedFisherman's topic in General Angling Discussion
Well we will actually be there next Sunday. Kimberly city I’m not gonna be able to pre fish it Saturday so going blind. Gonna research it tho. -
So my son and his partner fished there second high school tourny on Lake Charles here in NE AR. It was a grind but with 10 minutes to go landed the final keeper for the tank that got them first place in there junior division. Landen’s partner has really improved and caught the big one at the end to seal the deal. We was harvesting corn yesterday but wasn’t letting these boys down being there captain, dad and the crew did well without me. Nice turnout for these down here as it seems to be growing. Proud of these boys. Bret. On a side note I have discovered how serious these things are taken. As a junior boat captain I’m allowed to HELP them with things like trolling Moter in wind, snags tangles etc. I was fixing a backlash Landen couldn’t get out and I was standing while working it. Another boat saw me and actually called it in, it was all good when it was explained to them and they admitted they didn’t see me cast. So there are checks and balances out there guess that’s a good thing!

Youth Bass Tournament on the Gasconade River
LittleRedFisherman replied to Seth's topic in General Angling Discussion
That’s great man. Great editing to. Nothing like taking kids fishing kudos to you Seth -
I rigged one up on a pole from fishing specialties It’s important when using spotlock to have it. There are also times I miss it being on my trolling moter when searching around. IM looking at a polE from all aboard marine they attaches to your trolling moter and has a chain drive that syncs with the moter. When you find something you wanna spot lock on you can pop a pin out and attach a pole and use it separate froM the trolling moter.

I’ve had it for 3 years and it is for sure a game changer for crappie! I can work for bass to. This time of year targeting suspending bass and chasing with a spoon is fun. But for crappie is basically unfair at times for them how good it can work.

Wheeler is for sure the big dog in bass fishing right now. His ability to adapt is something else.

Landen and his buddy Colin fished there first tournament yesterday and placed 2nd. Needless to say they are Pumped up for the next one. Probably started something here can’t turn back in now. Ha ha. The high school fishing thing is growing and excited these boys wanna do it. Even gave me an excuse to move up To a bigger lake boat 😝. There next one is on table rock and will have a lot of boats I’m sure. Some of these, well actually most of them will come during some of my tough times farming but gonna do my best to make it happen. After what I’m still calling for now a minor health scare this winter I’m not wasting any moment I don’t have to with my son. Life it short folks so enjoy it while we are here. Far as yesterday’s little tournament it was a tough bite, but persuaded the boys to go to one of my old school tactics when it’s like this. The old tequila sunrise zoom worm still works. Like a friend of mine said one time any Color worm will work as long as it’s purple 😝. God Bless my friends Bret
