  1. OK guys, I finally downloaded my pics from the phone to the puter. We went fishing at a private sub-division pond in South St Louis County. My phone died so I could not get more pics, there were more sunfish caught by both of my boys. I was skunked, and am OK with it (now).
  2. Jay Henges Conservation Area http://mdc.mo.gov/regions/st-louis/jay-henges-shooting-range in the St Louis Area already offers that. They supply the clays and the machine for almost the price of the clays themselves at Walmart. Very nice outdoor range all new for the pistol/rifle section. Wed, Feb 6, they offer "Introduction to Firearms". I hope this helps at least 1 person.
  3. Sounds like a good day. :-)
  4. My boys got those same 'copters this year. They also got cap guns, and cap grenades. I was very surprised to find the old style paper caps at the local Dollar General store. I am on a mission to buy my kids as many toys that spark thier imagination and make them use thier hands.
  5. I can see it, and play it. Maybe if you update your browser, do a disc cleanup, or something of that nature. Those problems have created similar symptoms for me. Sorry that I have nothing more to contribute.
  6. I liked it. Keep it up.
  7. What is wrong with the laws we already have? It is already illegal to shoot someone unprovoked. The problem is enforcement. Lets keep threatening the public, but never do anything. It works for parents.... oh, wait, it doesn't work. Make stricter laws all you want, if someone is willing to commit suicide, you will not win, PERIOD. You can not have a Minority Report type of government. You will not find all of the mentally disturbed people, how would you start? by asking? "are you crazy?" "NO!", "Oh, sorry we had to ask..." I've said jokingly for years "Crazy people think they are normal". If someone who is mentally disturbed says that they aren't, can you uphold that as a lie? Think about it.
  8. I will open the door for us po' people. I adore the Zebco 33 combo. I have multiples of them, and have never seen a reason to upgrade or change. My fly rod setup is a Bass Pro special (spent about $79.99 ready to go). My "River Rods" are a bit more expensive, not sure of the brand, I was given them in exchange for some work as a teenager. I work about 60-70 hours a week, have 3 kids, do scouting, sports, and cook when I'm off work. I just don't have the extra money to justify buying a more expensive setup. Maybe I don't catch the fish that others do, but I also don't put in the time that others do. I do appreciate the topic and hope that others will participate so that when I decide to upgrade from the sandbox, I have some direction.
  9. This is the kind of post I love. Keep it up guys, I'm sure many would rate this as a like, or 5star.

  11. Jack, yes, mine was abandoned on a piece of property I bought. It was there when I purchased the property. Mine in question is a 10' flat bottom jon boat. Not very valuable, but I wanted to use a trolling motor on a local creek. As far as the fines go, I would not take the chance (just me). Maybe you could sell this one, and take the money and purchase one with a title on craigslist.
  12. Good info. Glad I asked. As far as I know, with catfish, you can "massage" the belly area, kinda squeeze it and it will "burp". This is supposed to help protect it from the difference of air pressure. I usually do not fish at these depths, so I am fairly unfamiliar with this method.
  13. I applied for an abondoned Title registration for a flat bottom boat. I did not know the year of the boat, it was the last 2 digits of the serial number. Maybe it is the same for canoes, I'm not sure. I had to set up a time with the highway patrol to inspect the boat and to give me the last known address of the last registered title owner. Here in the St Louis area, they have a few locations that they will be at and do the inspections on site. What they do is look at the watercraft, record any serial number/registration numbers etc. Look up on thier computer to see if it was ever reported as stolen, and if it was ever registered. They will give you the form #798, (at least in my case, it was not available online). I had to mail a letter(Form 5227) to the last known owner, and wait 30 days for them to respond. Im my case, the last registered owner moved, and I could not locate them. I had to then, mail the request for title to the State of MO with all of the requirements on the second page of form 5227. Here is a link to the highway/water patrol to set up for an inspection http://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/MSHPWeb/WaterPatrol/serialNumberVerificationStations.html at the bottom of the page is a link to the State of Missouri for titleing watercraft. Fair warning, once sent to the State of MO, it took about 2 1/2 months to get my title in the mail to be able to get my stickers, which I could not get from my local license bureau, I had to mail for them seperately. Once you recieve them, you will also get a boater card (Separately) which you are required to have in your possesion while operating the watercraft while under power.
  14. What do you mean by " fizz a catfish" ?, Also, why wouldn't it "Go back down"? Sorry to sound like a newby, but I am in new territory here. I guess it is because of the depth and it is to do with the lack of oxygen compared to comming up? Is 'fizz' the same as 'burp'?
  15. I love how your son always looks surprised when the fish jumps, and when he sets the hook. You always make great videos.
  16. Yea, well I could also just go and buy one from a crackhead for $20.00 down town St Louis. (much cheaper than the printer, much less the materials needed to make the item "printed".) My point is again ENFORCEMENT. I heard on the radio this morning the one who did this committed over 26 felonies. We have all of the laws we need, laws do nothing to deter many from breaking them. Lets start enforcing them from a young age. Lets get rid of the excuses of mental capacity, age, bad childhood, etc. IF YOU DO THE CRIME, YOU DO THE TIME!. When we show others that you pay for your acts, no matter positive or negative, you get rewarded or punished. If people are made to think twice, then it will be less likely that we hear about these situations. It is the butterfly effect. If I see someone break a law and no one punishes that person, I will likely break that same law if I believe it affects me in a negative way. If I see someone who gets punished for breaking the law, (Punishment shall fit the offence) then I will probably not follow suit. This will not keep everyone from committing crimes, but it will slow down much of it. We start small, then work to larger scale showing anyone who may think about harming others, there are consequences, and we will follow through. I guess, as the title states...... The enemy IS denial. We deny ourselves the lives we should live in the name of "Humanity". What about the inhumanity that was imposed on any victims of any crimes?
  17. Between the economy, and the addition of kids over the last 6 years, I have not been able to fish but a few times a year. I now work 2 1/2 jobs ( a seasonal job) and I don't see that changing much soon. It really is a shame as I have a large creek that is within walking distance, and I drive over it multiple times daily just looking at it with hungry eyes.
  18. As was mentioned earlier I enjoy the pictures, of fish, of harvested game,of plants, of the members on the site, etc. I am also guilty of not uploading photos, but I will try to make it a more concious effort to do so in the future. I am on the St Louis side, but do not get out as much as some, but when I do, I am more than excited to post my reports. Bring on the pictures. Good topic.
  19. Good job to you both. Beats alot of the stuff I've been reading.
  20. Good for you, It is life changing like many have told you, but just like everything else, you adapt and it is not like a tornado has come through as some will try to have you believe. I have 3 children 13, 6, and 3. You could have took your pick and I would gladly have traded you for a day or two. mic, that is funny (kind of). Suprised your still alive. (done hijaking.)
  21. Good writeup. Go's to show that hard work does pay off.
  22. Sounds like fun.
