A good bait on spincast is canned corn dipped in imitation vanilla (the cheapest you can get), do not lay you poles down unattended, DO NOT LAY YOUR POLES DOWN UNATTENDED. they will disapear.

Nice stretch, I plan on doing it this year myself. I have parked at a couple of the accesses, and contemplated how to do it, Troll up and drift back, have the wife drop on vehicle off and float to it, and so on. Glad to hear that you were able to do it and have a good time. That is what its about, although we are supposed to be getting the good ones in there.....

Good video, I have used this technique with salt, but never with the crab boil. I enjoy alot of Zatarains' items, and will give it a shot.

F&F, how deep should one take your question? I consider them both Art to some extent. Some may ask how, I answer by asking "Who is holding the fish? Why are they not shown? " In these questions the idea of both of the pictures being art can be realized. The first one has been altered, but (not haveing a knowledge of photoshop's workings) I don't know to what extent. How would you present this picture? Would you let someone else's interpretation be the ruling factor? ( Please don't read these as me being a smartellic, it is meant is casual conversation tone)

Art is created. Al, I feel that you have hit all of the details and the answer lies within expectations. Whether it is "Fine Art" or not so fine, done with water colors, pencils, photos, clay ect, it is created by controling the variables. What should be allowed and what should not, will be decided by the one creating the 'art'. As viewers, we can decide whether we like or dislike the art, but we cannot change what has been done, unless we become the 'artist'. Photoshop is a tool as has been mentioned and so is a camera. If we declare Photoshop evil, then anything that is not exactly natural to the reproduction created should also be declared evil. What I mean is, Al, if you were to use a canvas and paint while painting a fish, everything you put on that canvas would have to come from the fish and exact surroundings as you seen at the moment you are painting. If you put in a log that was not behind the fish at the exact moment you seen the fish you are altering the painting. Or as was mentioned a fish can be altered by the camera by holding it at arms length and holding the camera at an angle. Should all photos be taken from a tripod with a 110 camera? Also how about lenses used on cameras to change the image that comes out. Fish eye lenses, or tinted lenses to change the colors or certain items (all of you photographers know what I'm trying to get at), are these things out of bounds? I don't believe they should be. I enjoy seeing what can be produced by altering some things. I have tried my hand but I don't have the skills. If I buy a picture that has been altered (most for sale have been one way or another), and I can not tell that it has been, so be it. I do not buy "art" for investment, so I pay what it is worth to me.

As has been noted before aluminum will stick to logs, and shallow rock bottoms. It seems to be a v-bottom also, but for $100.00 it may be worth your time. The seller also claims to have the title. Hope this helps you Ozarkfisherman, or anyone else for that matter. By the way DeSoto is about 1 hour south of St Louis, on Highway US67. Easy drive from Poplar Bluff.

Check on craigslist, I see them all of the time for around $200-$800. Be careful, for in MO if you get one and want to power it, (Even with a trolling motor), a title will be required. Alot of boats for sale on craigslist have no title. I have a 10 foot little jon, it fits in the back of my Dodge Dakota. I have used it on the creek with paddles, and with a trolling motor. I can manuever it, but it is easier just to drift. On the stable side, i wouldn't call it the most stable, but I can stand an move around in it carefully.

Nice CAT!! Congrats on your first blue, I'm still looking for mine. How was your thumb? I have had a couple decent size channel cats that bit my thumb, and it hurt quite a bit. (no where near as bad as the fins do). Heres to more hitting on plastics.

So, what did they do wrong? I really don't see what was the issue. What if they all walked to school, or if they all rode thier bikes, or if they all wore the same color t shirts? I really don't see the problem/Prank. They all showed up to school, right. No damage was done, no negative impact was presented. When I was a senior, we had a senior skip day where most of our school's seniors participated. It was a good size school, and apparently we cost the school money by not being there, so we were punished with in school suspension. I agree that if you present a negative action, you should expect a negative reaction. But, I just don't see the negative action to start with. I wonder if I was to drive my lawn tractor to work, if I would be punished. I believe that they would be happy just that I showed up. We make the world as easy or as difficult as we want it.

As has been stated previously, you are required to register a watercraft if it is powered, whether it be electric or gas. Now, to answer your question, you DO have to register the gasoline engine, but you DO NOT have to register an electric motor. In order to register the craft/boat, along with the gas engine, you do need titles. I recently went through the registration process on a 10 foot jon boat so that I could use it under electric power.

I have not had an oppurtunity to fish it, but I have swam in it. I consider it to be a large lake, it has many accesses. It is much murkier than the ozark streams ( I am still not used to being able to see the fish I am trying to catch), gets very deep, and I have heard many success stories from it. It has a beautiful area of forest and wildlife around it and has many camping/hunting opportunities. The forest around Mark Twain Lake is broken up. What I mean by that is there are patches of forest that are owned privately, while alot of other parts are owned nationally I believe, and some of it is not connected. From MO State Parks' website: Fishing at Mark Twain State Park Excellent fishing for crappie, catfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, carp, walleye and perch awaits you at the 18,000-acre Mark Twain Lake.. The lake has many quiet coves where you can spend peaceful days fishing and relaxing. Take advantage of fishing opportunities on Mark Twain Lake 24 hours a day, year-round (when lake conditions permit). Ice fishing on Mark Twain Lake is not advised due to fluctuating water levels under the ice, as well as variable ice thickness. Be aware of length and possession limits for all fish. If you don't have a boat, or you have small children that would like to fish from shore, four-acre Tom Sawyer Lake, near the junction of Highway 107 and Route U, offers opportunities to catch blue gill, largemouth bass and catfish. Fishing at Tom Sawyer Lake is available from sunrise to sunset year-round. Ice fishing is not permitted on Tom Sawyer Lake. Please observe length and possession limits posted at the lake. On the Fishing Report, provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation, Mark Twain Lake is listed under Northeast Region:Lakes.

Maybe this could be shown in middle schools. I may show this to my older scouts.
