  1. There is a special tool for installing that locking retainer ring, but it can be done with a modified pair of channel lock pliers. Basically make sure the groove is nice & clean, then squeeze the ring shut in the groove until it snaps and locks closed.
  2. I'm in .....for whatever that's worth. I mean, within reason of course. 😉
  3. If you feel good enough to get excited about THAT, then what do you need a doctor for?
  4. Motorguide has the best mounts, but Minn Kota has the best motors, shafts, and controls. The others haven't been in the game long enough to prove themselves IMO.
  5. River/Lake whatever. It's all water. I like to be able to fast idle through 2' of water without worry. When the depth finder starts flashing 1.5' then it's time to slow way down and trim up a bit to protect the prop. I'll sacrifice the paint on the snoot of the gearcase to be able to idle with CONTROL. Jet pumps suck at slow speed navigation.
  6. This 1986 40 Evinrude will be the initial pusher unless a good 50-60 falls out of the sky.
  7. Mercury Marine's "technical" solution to the loss of RPM after about 50-75 hours after break-in, on their new 4-strokes ..... is to change props (reduce pitch and/or diameter). "There ya go, you're back to 5900 RPM, so now leave us alone". 😂
  8. You need to bring your oldass up here to the Gravois spring branch around mid-June, and let me put you on a dip-bait Channel cat bite. Bring a lawn chair and a big cooler to haul them home in. 👍🙂
  9. Here we go, we start with this.... 1996 17' Xpress It has a Force 40 on it (Getting rid of that POS), and not enough storage to be a decent bass boat, so....... A repower is in the works, as is a front deck extension, and a flyfish friendly trolling motor. If you might be interested in a rig like this and have any special requests.....let's hear them. Now's the time 👍 This is why I'm not a huge fan of WELDED Jon boats It's the only blem I can find anywhere on the boat (on the bow top cap).......but it will get fixed proper. She's rated for 70 HP but I'm thinking 30-50 would keep her nimble and reasonably light. Being able to run shallow and navigate sketchy spots is more important than being able to blow your hat & sunglasses off. 👍
  10. I recommend going with the option that results in the most revenue. Make this crap as worthwhile as possible......within your moral limits of course. Currently you delete and scold any colorful language or humor......yet fully allow tit, booty, and cameltoe shots to pop-up frequently. Just seems kinda twisted. No ? Either way I don't care. Nothing offends ME.....but ads like that DO set the stage. 😉
  11. Is this what you're talking about? If so, what's it worth to ya? 😉
  12. I like that one.....but you should know that I ain't driving to Oklahoma! Jesus, I'd need a passport for THAT ! 😁
  13. Ya darn right buddy. 😁 Speaking of which..... I'm in need of a Johnson/Evinrude 50-70 hp. 1985 to 2000 w/tilt-trim. 20" shaft. In any condition. I don't care if it's blown, but must be complete (no major parts missing). Hit me up if you have one for sale, or know of one. 👍
  14. OMG ! They are blinding me with SCIENCE ! https://www.sharrowmarine.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwvJyjBhApEiwAWz2nLXBCpe2syZc5ZA6Vhv_hmvboWSo3zSgJYtGEfEf1WVOa8oedB4GAcBoCinMQAvD_BwE Seriously, Shaft on gearcase spins. Propeller attaches to shaft, displacing water. Boat moves forward. End of class !!! There's no sense in all of this overcomplication and fussing over R&D. There's nothing new in the world of water propulsion that's worth spending any further time and money on. Please stop reinventing the wheel !
  15. That was really nice of that bear to collect the wrapper from his snack for proper disposal.
  16. Grease in a properly sealed and lubed wheel hub fills the void sufficiently enough to allow no room for water intrusion. Grease in a sealed hub also creeps towards areas of heat/friction and thereby reduces friction and heat. Red, Purple, Yellow, White, Blue, Brown.....who cares? Keep the hub sealed and full of it at all times.....and it simply can not fail. If the seals and the amount of grease in the hub is inadequate then it doesn't matter one bit which brand, what color, or which formula the grease is. The "Grease" is NOT the key component of a wheel hub.
  17. It would definitely add class to my fish pics ! I'd definitely need a case for it though. 🙂
  18. No, no. That awesome thing is worth far more than I'm willing to pay. I use a landing net AS A LANDING NET. That belongs on the wall of a prestigious establishment. 👍 Not on the floor of my flyfishing boat.
  19. The ramp was gone the last time I was there. Did they rebuild it?
  20. Wasn't targeting them but happened across a riffle&pool that was loaded, and had some success (4) on a fur strip muddler. Nothing huge, but it was all my 6wt. trout rod with 4x could handle 😉 Olive over tan with 8 strands of root beer Krystal flash...... Hands down the best clear water Clouser of all time. No crazy fluorescent painted dumbbell eyes. Just paint them black, if you must (probably best to just use unpainted lead eyes). No fluorescent red or orange THREAD either. Just ugly old olive. Everybody wants to dress a Clouser up like a Christmas tree....... DON'T! The fish don't need any help seeing it. It represents something alive and real, that belongs there.
  21. Woah ! There's a piece of art right there. Way cool. 👍 How much is that bad boy gonna sell for?
  22. The very backends of narrow wooded (shaded) coves, preferably ones that are situated so that the mouth of the cove faces South. As far as depth...... I'd start by placing them at the depth where you can just barely (but not quite) see the bottom. Bait with a double-fistful of dead crappie minnows, and/or some pieces of ham or rib bones. Disclaimer: I have absolutely ZERO experience trapping crawdads.....but one of my closest friends is a fisheries biologist, and I bet I could do better than him at it 😅
  23. No kidding. Stock traders, politicians, and business execs that cheat.... should receive such criticism and scarlet letters. 🙄
  24. Oh I 100% "get it". It's challenging, and it's fun, and that feeling you get when you win or do really well is better than sex, and lasts way longer too. But it's undeniable that far too many guys have lost their ever-lovin' minds and become way overly obsessed with it. When they started recruiting TEAMS out of highschool kids.....that was when I realized how ridiculous it had become. As a career choice you're better off with a $14 shovel in your hand than even the best $400 crankbait rod.
