US Trucker Convoy coming through Springfield next week
fishinwrench replied to netboy's topic in General Chat
Ch. 10 was the local "call channel" where I grew up. I still remember everyone's "handle" that I used to communicate with. Man there was some loose women in the ol'brick city at that time. Loose MARRIED women 😳 Sheesh, it's a wonder nobody got killed. Those were some fun times. 🙂 -
I hope so. Not that I'm aware of.. Daddy Burns from NRO passed away last year. That might be who you're thinking of.

Every business has droughts and floods. I doubt that anyone around there will be starving anytime soon. Although if Ho-Hum did I would be personally pleased. 🙄 What's the local word on THAT place BTW ?
-
Actually I'd hesitate pretty long and hard. I've never been one for spontaneous casual sex. Regardless of how smokin'hot a gal looks, if there's no intellectual or emotional connection then I have no desire to stir up her internal components. 🤷♂️

A convenient little bottle of Gink is cheap enough and lasts me a long time, so I don't see the need in concocting anything to substitute it. I treat them with Gink (it lives on the tying bench....not in my waist pack) as soon as they come off the vise, then use Frogs Fanny to dry them off after landing a fish. That's what I carry on stream, and that stuff works great.

Hats, coffee mugs, and stickers on the way. 😁 If only I had one of those sweet OA hats and T-shirts with the new logo....... Who do I have to blow to get one of those?

Are these just Owner/Operators, or are there actual trucking companies participating in this little display ? If so I wonder if it is a write-off ? 🤔 There are so many things I could protest about......I could maybe make a good living at it. -

That's the cool thing about fishing, and America, you get to choose what you want....or don't want. I don't want low profile reels, braided line, or a new Caymas with a 4-stroke outboard.....So I just don't buy them. Life is good. 🙂 -

Well, the "word has been out" for a long time. Crappie anglers trolling little Bandit crankbaits in those areas started catching 4-6 pounders regularly, thinking they were pulling through schools of suspended slab crappie. But before FFS there really wasn't a precise way to target those fish without trolling (which is a no-no in tournaments). Just drifting around out there fan-casting blind is too much of a gamble. Those fish can be effectively targeted now. 👍 -

For a period of time, yes. Conveniently enough..... usually just outside the bouys (of the "off limits" area). Sometimes they'll school up around the bouys cables themselves..., and you're kinda pushing the rules there. But they'll likely wander off a bit several times a day. -

The winningest livescope Bass strategy that I know about is locating schools of relocated (lost) bass near release areas. Usually they are suspended but they will stay together, and they all range from 3-7lbs. At sometime during the day they will turn on and bite aggressively....as long as you don't keep hammering at them. If you keep following them around and throwing stuff at them before they are ready to feed..... you'll screw the pooch. They'll get spooked, scatter, and you might as well go find another group of fish somewhere else. Just calmly stay within casting distance of them as best you can and show them a bait every 30-45 minutes. Usually a swimbait of sorts is best. Once they decide to fire, you'll have an opportunity to absolutely load the boat in 15-20 minutes... if you can stay calm. Stomping around in the boat, slamming hatch lids, and stuff like that will put them on the move and make it hard to keep track of them. Get good at doing that and you could probably win the biggest bass derby of the year from a 14' Jon boat with nothing but a trolling motor and a FFS unit attached to it. -
That's a fine hound right there. You can tell he's smart just by looking at him. 👍 There's more love and devotion in that creature than any other you'll meet in a lifetime. 🤗 If there truly is a heaven then THAT'S what belongs there......it certainly isn't the likes of any of us.

As far as I know, this is correct. So one shouldn't waste it being drunk, high, and chauffeuring strip club hookers. 😁🤘

I can't speak for the North Fork/Bryant specifically, but Stripers DO run up the tributaries, usually about the time that the White bass are finishing up. I find them in the Lake O tribs after the female Whites have disappeared and only a few males remain. Up here the migration schedule goes like this..... First come the Walleye. Then the Goldeye (crazy 12-14' shad looking things that chase a fly but won't bite anything). Then after a good rain the male White bass magically appear overnight. Then the gar, and Buffalo. Then the female Whites, mixed with Hybrids and mutts. About 2 weeks later the female Whites are gone and the occasional Striper starts showing up. Male whites filter out completely within a few days, and Stripers remain for a week or two UNLESS the water level falls out. If the water falls then they go away and don't come back.

Great. So what can we feed the cats to? 😁 -
Depends on who "they" is. 🙂

Oh I beg to differ. There are a BUNCH of young "gamers" that took to this technology right away, and they are getting even better at it daily. They have no knowledge of "fishing" as we older guys know it...... but they'll take your money any given Sunday. I was considered a pretty solid fisherman before all of this.....but I am OUT now. -
I get that. It's like fly tying I suppose. But I can't buy the flys I prefer to fish ANYWHERE. If I could then I certainly wouldn't bother making them myself. Doing so would be ignorant. The tomatoes we get at the local G2M or the Amish stores are freakin' delicious enough for ME. But if you're such an elite tomato connoisseur that you'd turn your nose up at them......then I can't even relate to ya. 🙂. Your palate is that of royalty. 🤴 I'm 38# overweight as it is......I definitely don't need access to BETTER FOOD !

And yet they claim that the military has access to units that far surpass everything that will be available on the open market for at least the next 8-12 years. These tech companies are milking you just a little bit at a time. Clever strategy, hu? -
Paying 10x the amount while still having to work my butt off, and then having to wait 3 months....for sub-standard vegetables.... doesn't calm me down one iota. Why doesn't anyone grow their own brussel sprouts? Broccoli? Potatoes? Portabella 'shrooms? I love those things ! And since I have to go to the grocery store to get them......I might as well grab tomato's, cucumbers, carrots, and zucchini too......since that's all anyone ever grows in their high-dollar "gardens". 😅
-
Right on, but a tomato in the 80's wasn't expensive then......and still isn't. For the cost of building/buying the circuitry to affix your LED's to.....you could feed us all perfectly healthy veggies for 4 months. Our grocery store has DELICIOUS tomatoes and various other produce. I just can't, for the life of me, wrap my head around "Gardening". Buying pots, building boxes, buying special soil, assembling lighting, herbicide, pesticide, pruning and fussing about...... All over a salad 🙄

That one appears to be a mutt (of sorts). Here's a few from a Lake O trib that I believe are a bit more "pure".

I think you'll see noticably less people participating in tournaments after the wave of FFS subsides. Which IMO is something that needs to be reduced anyway. So I'm all for it. Nobody that has become proficient with FFS is going to succumb to a slow day and NOT rely on it to save them. And eventually a good number of people will grow tired/bored with fishing that way. The weight it takes to win tournaments hasn't changed drastically...... but the number of guys coming in within ounces of that weight certainly has.
