I would advise that as well.
My fly-fishing rig has a single Exide dual purpose battery that starts the motor, runs a MK power-drive trolling motor, a LCR, bilge, Livewell pump, and lights. I can operate for 2 full days without recharging. Seriously, what else do you need?
Yep, and that outboard motor you bought brand new last year....... that's disposable too. Once the warranty expires you might get an additional 4-5 years out of it, but then that's it.
The makers and the dealers will tell you differently, but they are lying.
I had cropped the pic, but it was this part of my thumb that he was sitting on.
The pic makes him look like he's 2" long, but in reality he was only about 3/8" long. Not counting the tails of course.
Yeah the big brownish-gray mayflys that hatch here on the lake during late summer are supposed to be Hex's,.
So I kinda assumed that all Hex's were the GIANTS of the mayfly world.
Learned something cool tonite. 🙂
A Hex? Wow, I never would have assumed that. Thanks!
Kinda makes sense now that I think about it, because the area where they were thickest was a slower deeper trough with a silty bottom just down from our campsite.
This mayfly dun was way smaller than any golden stone. About a size 14
It was on the Niangua last September.
I captured 4 emerging nymphs during the hatch and had them in a film container with water, but when I got back home (3 days later) they had turned to mush. I tied these nymphs from memory.
But I'd really like to know what mayfly species it is.....so I can learn something about them.
72psi seems rediculous. I was taught to inflate until 3 lugs are in contact with level ground.....and that has always served me well.
On my Z71 Truck, and on my Tahoe, that equates to 48-50 psi with 16" and 17" BFG/AT'S respectively.
My thoughts as well. But I'm still relatively low-tech with my current fleet of fishing boats.
The power demands of some of y'all's rigs is bordering on insanity. To think of all the fish caught/ tournaments won/ records set/ ect. without all those VOLTS in the past......is astounding. 😂
Did it happen while you were out fishing? If so then I feel for ya.
I've always been extra careful to NEVER be out on a boat when it was ON FIRE.....and luckily I've been spared that experience thus far.
The scary part on one of the meltdowns I inspected, was that even after the ground lead was cut free (or better yet....ripped loose in a panic).....the battery continued to smoke, sizzle and pop until finally something inside it burnt in two.
To have that happen while out in the middle of the lake...
.
Yikes ! 😯
