When I was a child my grandma always warned me to stay away from Gypsy's, and don't talk to them. The only problem was that I didn't know what Gypsy's looked like at the time. Still don't. 🤔 The vice-principal was trying to get me to rat out one of my friends....and I just clammed up/played deaf-dumb-and blind. Gray/white, or Chart./white. Those are the only color combos I bother with anymore. Green bass kinda like lt.blue/white, or lt.blue/gray. Olive/yellow was good ONE DAY for Smallies....but honestly I think they would have hit anything that moved on that particular day. Usually chart/white gets the job done on river Smallies. I try not to get trapped into tying and carrying 15 different colors. 😏 Presentation and retrieve speed matters day to day. Some days they want it slow and lazy, other days you can't strip it fast enough.

I gotta disagree with that. Gravity and wind resistance is pretty hard to argue with. You definitely see more hardballs knocked over the fence than you do softballs. Given three rocks....A tiny pebble, a golf ball sized rock, and a rock the size of your foot......Which one can you throw the furthest? Now....consider which one you can shoot the furthest with a slingshot.

That's the part about casting instruction that makes no sense to me. They always wanna demonstrate distance casting with 5wt. rods. I get it. 5 wt line has a tendency to hover in the air, moreso than 7-8-9wt. lines. But it is with those heavier setups that incredible distance truly matters. All teachable casting principals go right out the window when you are on a trout stream and your goal is to lay the line down for the best possible drift. If you're laying out a bomb cast and then have to immediately mend 4-5 times....What was the purpose of all those pretty graceful strokes?

Drum are an odd species. I've always been interested (kinda) in what makes them tick. They go, for the most part, unseen, until you have a crazy weather pattern or something that just completely shuts down every other fish in the body of water.....and then they miraculously appear as the only thing that will chase and bite. The times when you'd think conditions are great and every other fish species is having a party.... you'll likely not even see a drum, much less catch one.
