  1. Yeah, but the only reason for tournament fishing is the platform to sell. It exists solely as an advertising campaign. So by limiting what you can use, you limit what can be sold. It has become quite an empire. Lots of mouths are being fed. I just wish they'd change the scoring format and stop shuffling bass around.
  2. I spent some time on the Mokane to Hermann stretch, caught some nice channels, flatheads, but never got into any blues, and never found any hybrids or white bass (which is what I was actually there for). That's a tretcherous piece of water. Then I got a "hot tip" about some big hybrids along some railroad rip-rap near Booneville so we spent 3 days getting skunked around there. The river is considerably tamer there.... but it's just ugly.
  3. What I DON'T want is a 3.5 acre mosquito lagoon directly across the road from my porch.
  4. Not my thing, but I wish you fun and success. 👍
  5. All of the important mayflys in Mo. are cream, or very light olive. Hendrickson's, Red Quills, and Brown Drake's exist.... but they have no FISHING importance here. Learning about those bugs is fun, but don't let it slow down your angling learning curve, because THESE trout don't care. Ants and beetles are usually more important than Mayflys and Caddis. One minor exception....the Current has Trico's
  6. I'll have to study on that. Surely there's at least 30-40amps available, which should be capable of keeping things lit....while still supplying charge voltage.
  7. The road crew is tearing out a lake road and redoing it soon. I told them they could dump the old busted up asphalt along my dam. Do you think that's a bad idea? I'm not sure if that was a smart move on my part...but I need the fill. 2.5 miles of busted up pavement would probably finish my dam off, pretty close I bet. In trade for letting them dispose of it there they said they would supply guard railing where the pond runs up next to the road. Of course this is a business expense.....cuz I need a place to back trailers into for test running boats. 😊 Do you think old asphalt leeches out enough oil to be harmful to a micro-fishery?
  8. I consider myself a highly experienced boater with lots of time on the Miss. but the Mo. River (in the streches that would be good fishing) makes me feel uneasy. This state is loaded with excellent places to catch big catfish, be darn if I'd choose that one.
  9. I have a dam 1/3 the way across a little spring fed ravine, that when completed will be a 3.5 acre pond 18-22'deep with standing timber. So far it has cost me nothing. 😊
  10. I love fishing as much as anyone, but the only thing in fishing that's worth 30k to ME is my own private lake to do it in.
  11. No, I'm not launching it every time someone thinks they might be interested. If I tell you it's good then it's good. I'm not paying a penalty for the guy that screwed you once upon a time.....that HIS debt to pay, not mine.
  12. No, but I saw my wife do some brief pressing.
  13. Naw, I don't allow "test drives" of boats, and don't expect anyone else to.
  14. Yeah the Facebook marketplaces are it. The only problem is that you have the sellers "friends" trying to help them BOOST their negotiation skills. That crap gets kinda irritating. 🙄 I refuse to go traveling all over to look at stuff, so I just tell them I'm interested and to bring it to me, and bring the titles....and if it is "as advertised" then I'll buy it. That's when you find out the REAL condition, and whether or not any titles or lein releases have gotten mysteriously misplaced.
  15. The used boat market is jacked up right now. People look at the price of boating ACCESSORIES and think their boat is worth WAY more than it is. And I guess they aren't wrong because eventually someone will come along and pay 3-7k more for a used boat than they should have had to. I've made a fool out of myself several times lately by telling guys "You'll never get that much for it".......and then 2 months later they did. So now I just say "it's worth whatever you can get for it". I guess you could say it is a seller's market right now.
  16. Well, there are at least 2 doctors that were saying what the researchers with agenda said..... before they ever said it. One is a gynocologist, but that's still a doctor, right? I've done business with a few doctors, a pharmacist, and a professor of some field of medical learning that were either void of any common sense.....or pretended to be dumbasses for one reason or another. I mean I suppose it's possible to be brilliant in pharmacology or health care and not know that leaves in a boats bilge area could clog up a bilge pump. Or that adding more gas to a tank that you are aware is contaminated with water won't help the engine run on it.
  17. Told ya! That's what you get when you elect the Ultra-Smart.
  18. Got it 👍 Memorial weekend on Lake O......I can't wait. 😂 Can't be any worse than it is right now. 🙄
  19. What's the dates again? We need a single designated thread for this. I'm having trouble keeping up. 😊
  20. Good Lord! He's gonna fail with an overhead like that.
  21. Boy I dunno. If you could witness the degree of PRESSURE on these poor fish on this end of the lake.... I mean, Yikes! 🤪 How many fish are we allowed to submit? Should I submit the biggest from each day, or just wait until the end and submit the single biggest? How many Lake O guys are in this thing? I've tossed around the idea of fishing Manito at least one day.....even though I've never caught a hawg there.
  22. Here it is
  23. Because they are full of $#!t, that's why. They are always going to over-treat you IF IT'S CONVENIENT FOR THEM in order to cover their behind. They make more money that way, and can't be sued for malpractice.
  24. I bet you're right.....but what fun is that. 😅
  25. What is what? You want my fly pattern?.....or do you want the scientific Latin name of the actual bug? The fly pattern is on here (9mm Wrench) in the fly tying section somewhere. I couldn't tell you what the actual bug is, but the big head tells you it's a male, and the clear wings tells you that it is preparing to mate and die. The big head thing may be some BS that I learned from a bonehead biologist.... because I'm pretty sure I see an egg sack there.
