  1. He'll never move. He isn't capable of adapting to another environment.
  2. Did you stumble across this one by chance?
  3. She did. And if you get the opportunity be sure to ask her if she plans to go back again someday. Her answer to that is a gut-buster.
  4. Yeah you might not like HVO, they specifically prohibit drones....even over the river there (which I don't see how they could enforce). Badminton, frisbee golf, and airguns are allowed though 😀
  5. I wasn't wet wading, so Spidey never made an appearance this trip. ☺️ No goose fajita's....so therefore no noxious wind events. 🙁 Several didn't attend because of weather forecasts and other issues. So all in all the weekend was tame almost to the point of being lame. Still fun though.
  6. It was fun but didn't equal the bash of yesteryear because of the repeated downpours on Saturday and Sunday. Amber and I fished the park after a less than stellar performance on the river, and of course we caught alot of fish, including several bigger than average. We strictly fished dry flys to make park fishing a bit more challenging, and it was actually alot of fun. A #16 Coachman Trude, and a #14 black beetle were the 2 best producers. The kid and I stuck it out and were the last to leave. Probably the highlight of the trip was the fish fry in the rain. About 1/2 way into it the sky exploded....and you know what happens when big drops of water hit hot grease. Holy Hell! We got'er done though and it was delicious. The rain never let up Saturday evening after we ate, and that pretty much put us to sleep about 9:30 since we were trapped in a tent with full belly's, beer, a pint of Woodford Reserve, and a pinch hitter. 😏I'm gonna make a few more weekday trips down to the park over the next couple weeks and practice my dry fly techniques, because I notice that my skills in that department could use some serious work. Anyone care to join me ? 🤔
  7. He has tweeked the tail on that bait.
  8. Hmm, never seen that before. Cool. I remember finding a grassy hillside completely covered in Garter snakes when I was a kid. We literally filled a trash can with them so full that 2 of us couldn't carry it. It was awesome when we dumped it out. Giant ball of snakes slowly spreading out everywhere. The old neighborhood girls probably still have nightmares about that. 😄
  9. I've never caught a really big LM that was suspended under a dock unless the dock was in less than 5ft. I believe the fish quit playing that game after they reach about 3 pounds.
  10. Snakes migrate ? In mass? Never heard of it.
  11. Oh I definitely agreed. BSC, Mill Creek., and the other teensy trout flows do nothing for me. I'd prefer them dammed up and a decent bass pond made out of them. Although if they did that THERE it would be a gated community surrounded by $400k homes and us pickle farmers wouldn't be allowed in.
  12. "No more effort" 😂 You realize we're talking 3.5 - 10oz here right? Hell just 5 hours of slinging a 1 7/8oz. A rig and it hurts to pee.
  13. Prettiest thing in your neighborhood. Congrats. 👍
  14. No points given for being too phoney to say what you think. 😉
  15. Where was the winning fish weighed in at, anybody know?
  16. It's a different dimension. The ones that don't understand what make it special, and argue that it shouldn't be, are not "fly fishermen". I like motorcycles, and I can ride good, but that doesn't make me a "biker". I rode from Chattanooga to Daytona and back on a AMF bike and I can't fathom what would make anyone wanna do that (and more) repeatedly (talk about SQUARE PEG!). When plans were being made for the trip to Sturgis....I sold my ride so I would have a reason not to go instead of an excuse. Kinda like Al leaving his flyrods in Montana 😉 I love all kinds of fishing, but if I could only own one rod it would be a square peg 9 for 7.
  17. Charlie, unlike most of us, has gotten nicer with age.
  18. The lower Niangua gets a hatch of them, usually lasts about 2 weeks. They are a size 10-12. I've never seen the fish go crazy on them though.
  19. Fine. You have some tater salad too then. 😄
  20. Here are a few tips to help make you a "likeable" co-angler.... Keep your stuff tidy and not littering the floor/seats/deck of the boat. Wads of line, torn up plastics, half empty water bottles ect.....Shove them in a pocket, quietly chew them up and swallow them, or whatever. When you notice that your boater is ready to make a move, reel in, get your pfd on, and sit yo'posterior down with a quickness. Don't fiddle-dick around and make him wait on you. Don't piss and moan, heavy sigh, or get otherwise emotional about backlashes, snags, missed bites, lost fish, or poorly placed casts. Just deal with it quietly. Having someone behind you that is frustrated or having a bad day is incredibly distracting. Anything that comes out of your mouth should have a positive tone attached to it. If you pause for a drink or a bite to eat, say something like "I'm gonna get a drink, can I get you anything?" Save all the questions about jig trailers, line, that weird knot he was tying, and other gear and techniques for after the weigh-in. Concentration is important. Keep in mind that odds are he'd rather be alone in the boat, so try to make your presence an asset if at all possible.
  21. Um, yeah!!! Very cool stuff. In all of my poking around I've only found 2 in my life, and one was all curved (couldn't have been used for anything really). They were in my old gun cabinet, I guess I lost them in the twister. I hopped in a guys truck once for a ride to town and he had 3-4 on the dash and another one in the cupholder. I asked about them and he was like "oh yeah, I find them all over the place, this one here I found on the road when I stopped to pee". I guess I just don't have the eye for it.
  22. I hope it rains on your "family reunion" and the potato salad gives you the squirts.
  23. Yeah I freakin' hate people too. 🖐️😃
  24. Lots of nice rigs here. Especially fond of the well kept retro rigs. Old school rules!
  25. We are at sites 5-6-7-8 back in the back. Hope to see ya.
