  1. Naw, between my REAL JOB and handful of hobbies I don't have time to play sandbox games like that.
  2. Didn't figure there were many here that wanted daily reports. The buds are darkening....but then so are all the other wild and undisturbed trees. No leaves dying yet.
  3. When I first read The Earth is enough it was during a time of turmoil and my life was a bit of a mess. It put my mind back in order and helped me through a tough time. That overly descriptive style of writing takes a certain mindset to appreciate I think. My daughter started to read it...but it annoyed her. 😀
  4. People really don't look before they step? Maybe they should install hand rails. Or better yet, they should hire life guards.
  5. Yeah I thought it might be cool to sit on the deck and knock it around the yard with my 1322 pistol, but the first 2 shots went whizzing off crazy and I quickly realized it was a bad idea. Cans and spinners are much safer. I'm not good enough with the pistol to do dinosaurs past 20 yards yet....unless it's from a solid rest.
  6. John G., Harry Middleton, and Dave Hughes stuff was what got replaced after the tornado. Everything else I can live without rereading it over again.
  7. Yup, lots of familiar ones. Sadly I lost about as many as you've shown in that pic to a twister in '06. I have only replaced the ones I felt I couldn't live without.
  8. It's nice when you have mechanical problems to have someone take time out of their "fun" to lend a hand. I can never pass by someone that is potentially stranded BUT I just gotta say this....... I feel it is your responsibility to have all the "what ifs" covered to the best of your ability. I strongly recommend every boat owner hit this link and join up immediatly, if you aren't already a member. http://www.boatus.com/membership/ Don't allow your misfortune, lack of maintenance, or general lack of boating knowledge, negatively effect someone else just because there are plenty of good natured folks willing to offer help at anytime. I say this because on the lake I live on you cannot go out 4 days straight without encountering at least 2 stranded boats, and quite frankly....karma aside.... it DOES get old.
  9. Yep. I'm giving it to my neighbor, he can knock it around with his .45 I'd like to see how it holds up to a 12ga. slug. So far my favorite targets are dinosaurs and spinners. The FT critters really aren't as much fun as I thought they'd be either.
  10. These are a bad idea! unless you wanna take a trip to the ER, want some dents in your truck, or some broken windows.
  11. Naw they aren't gonna take action to deter further development I don't think. I always thought their smoothest move would be to drop the lake 12', which would put everyone that was currently lakefront second tier. Then they could sell all the lakefront property AGAIN. 😃
  12. This is true. Everyone freaked out over the minor flood and Ameren's stance was "Hey Sorry, but we don't pay attention to weather forecasts". Then they suddenly started paying attention to weather forecasts, and got burnt right away, so they stopped paying attention to them again.....and we flooded a second time 😅 I love it when it's over 660.5 Lots of cool stuff to fish.
  13. Was there many MANY years ago, have distant relatives and met my very first girlfriend there. We fished, but I don't recall catching anything. I think my concentration was on other things. I recall rolling meadows, brick streets and sidewalks, and smallish trees.
  14. Those double barrel poppers look like the bomb. Need to order some of those bodies with a quickness. June has always been my favorite month for Bass Buggin'.
  15. At least that was 656.8ish (almost 657). 657.4 is the lowest I have ever found Whites running up the creeks (with exception to the Niangua's). But even on the Niangua's the white bass run isn't near as good as when levels are 658ish. If they just left it low all the time then erosion would eventually clear a path. But when the lake is at normal pool throughout the Summer a silt/gravel hump forms across the mouths of all the creeks, and the fish can't make the jump into the creeks during low lake level periods.
  16. This is the lowest level for May that I have ever seen. They sucked it down way early too (1st week of October). Nothing they do makes any sense anymore. I guess all of the old Ameren UE crew, that knew how to manage the lake levels here, have retired now. The new generation hasn't figured it out yet.
  17. Further treatment items and monitoring tools seeking approval. +48.79
  18. Noted. In that case we'll have to allow 27.43 for the tow strap, and 13.92 for Black Mulch which is to be placed over the disturbed soil on the next rain free day. Budget correction: 15,069.19 -8.35 +27.43 +13.92 = $15,102.19 Thank you, Biological Redbud bark damage study staff.
  19. Ok well, since we're going BIOLOGIST on this then we have something new to study. Sounds like I have your approval for funding,so here goes.... I'll begin the paper trail and records immediately. 5/2/2018 Relocation: Shovel =75.00, Truck=14,000.00, Fuel=16.50, Staff=274.80, Band-Aids= 6.25, Insect repellent=8.35 5/3/2018 Monitoring: Staff=(look at tree) 67.50, Take photo of tree and measure=135.70,. Talk about tree=432.09 (consultation on OAF Gardening thread). Prognosis of tree as of 1:35pm 5-3-2018 is questionable, but tree appears to be doing fine, no loss of buds or leaves at this time. Cost as of 2:00pm 5-3-2018 = $15,026.19 Is this not how they operate ? Note the generosity of not charging for the tow strap. You're welcome.
  20. Daughter called from Jackson co. last night, said sirens were going off.
  21. Not what I wanted to hear. So.....if I want to kill a bunch of ground clutter around here....all I have to do is walk around with a machete and skin some bark? That's actually really good news!
  22. Green thumb related... Sugarbritches decides that she wants this little tree moved from across the road to the front yard. Didn't look like a big deal, and I'm always looking to rack up some brownie points, so I said "Sure Babe, I'll dig it up this evening". So after 2 carb jobs, a gearcase rebuild, and a complete service on a 115 Merc 4-stroke and the toon it was hanging on I grabbed a sharp-shooter and waded into Ticktown to uproot this little MF'er. Well who knew that the root system on such a "sprout" was going to be 3 times the size of the tree? And since I can't even drive a tent stake anywhere on my property it wasn't long until I was ready to bail on this promised project. So as I'm standing there with sore hand bones, seed ticks crawling towards my balls, and knowing that once this little POS was unearthed I still had yet another hole to dig in the yard to plant it, I thought "this is rediculous, I have a badass 4x4 and a tow strap....just get the stupid tree for crying out loud". So I loosened up the dirt/rocks, threw 3 half hitches around the base with the tow strap, hit the 4Low button and gave it the old country boy tug. Well, the strap skinned the bark off the tree pretty good, but by God I finished the job. The Princess is NOT very happy. 😒 Do you think it will live ?
  23. It's because I get on here and blab all night while you wimps are getting your beauty sleep. I've made 10 people cry and made 9 people pissed. But 100 thanked me for it, so hey....
  24. Oh good lord. Why doesn't anyone ever tell me to shut up ?
  25. Where am I at now?
