A shipment of pellets got delivered today, so once again all work at Sims Marine came to a screeching halt. Did some accuracy and penetration/destruction tests shooting into a thick catalog at 30 yards . The winner in both categories was the JSB Jumbo Heavy 18gr. The Crosman Premier 14gr. HP's group just as good but have a little less punch at impact (about 40 pages less) but they are still probably good enough to do anything I wanna do. I'm gonna stay sighted in with them since I have 1000 of them. The 15gr. Gamo Hunters were ok but I can't stay in the 10 ring with them. The 22gr. Gamo TS-22 that I thought was gonna be the bomb.....well they suck! Impact damage and penetration was pathetic (I think they are too soft), and about every 3rd-4th shot was a flyer that wandered almost clear off the paper.

The best tubes aren't poured or injected, they are dipped.

Dept. of Conservation (We tax payers) has bought public accesses above and below. Do you know of any other river in the state that has a section of river, right in the middle of it, that you're not allowed to float through? I don't. Therefore I challenge the law in Evergreen, Mo. -
Nothing wrong with being proud of your woodie. Good on ya for not wasting it.

Nice ones ! Where'd ya haul them to, and why? Were you in a tournament?

Totally agree, but IF you are wrongfully arrested you still have to fork up a fair amount of coin for legal representation. I set out to fight a trespassing charge once and the cost of doing it quickly scared me off. I've kinda decided that if it ever happens to me again I will not sign the ticket and not speak a word. Pretty much immediately go deaf/dumb/blind the instant I'm confronted by a LEO. -

Actually I've always thought it should be the job of the Missouri Dept. of Conservation to contact landowners such as Plaster and the Niangua Cattle co. and inform them that the signs they put up and the harassment they dish out to law abiding fishermen is unlawful. -

June- July ? Or can it not wait until wet wading weather? -
Welcome! If you stick around here awhile you'll receive all the info you could possibly want. Where do you do most of your bass, walleye, and trout fishing ? Flyfish? Gotta boat? Boone county native?

I'm in/ain't scared. I'm actually a little anxious to meet the Evergreen PD. I bet they'd drink a beer. -

I just typed in "Osage fork" and all that came up was a couple that Cricket had posted, and a bunch of stuff from various dog breeders. (????) -
Ya gotta look under that cowling from time to time because some really crazy things happen in there. I've found snake skins, live snakes, mice, rats, dead birds, wasp and mud dauber nests, spiders, enough feathers to stuff a pillow, fish hooks and split shot, worm weights, plastic lizards and Senkos, ant colony's, piles of dog food, piles of acorns.... You name it. I live pretty happily under those cowlings so it shouldn't surprise anyone that all sorts of other despicable critters will gladly take up residence there as well.

Good point there! I googled "fishinwrench' once and scared the living crap out of myself. Hundreds of pages, clear back to old Riversmallies.com and the ancient Conservation cafe. -
Went for a little walk down the bank this afternoon. They are still there, and still hammering the lipless crank. 3 keepers and 7-8 shorts in less than an hour. Snapped a pic of the best one.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I can float just about any river and tell you where the best stretches are without even wetting a line. So can most of us here. Right? -

We have guys on this lake, that if they ever see you fishing a spot that they like to fish, they automatically assume that you saw THEM fishing there, or someone told you about it....and that's why you're there. That's some seriously vain crap. Lot's of people fish Zone 3 at Bennett Spring in the Winter, and lots of those people have "accidently" caught a couple smallmouth and had the light in their brain get turned on. A bunch of years ago WayneSWMO saw a couple guys stringing them up, and not being 100% sure if that was legal or not..... but assuming that it wasn't, he reported it and the next day they busted one of them. Didn't write the guy a ticket but made him turn the fish loose and instructed him not to do it anymore. I believe they have re-written the code since then and you can definitely get fined for it now. Broadcasting that there are Smallies in the stream isn't going to result in many more winter fly-fishermen at Bennett. Sorry but as secret as you try to keep it you're not gonna have THAT PLACE to yourself. -

Just for the sake of saying it.....I doubt that there are very many Smallies up in the Spring branch's now. It's still early Fall weather wise. Just didn't want someone to hit it and think "yep those bastards on OAF have run their mouths and RUINED IT". -

As this streamer thing evolves I've noticed that the patterns are getting more simple. Is it time yet for a list of the top 3? So far, for me, the ace in the hole is a #1 Bulkhead Deciever (non-articulated, and 4" long). Gray/White and Chart./White. Hands down the best streamer pattern I've thrown so far. -
Yep, me too. I go through phases. Trying to get me to go bass fishing when I'm in a trout phase, or river smallmouth fishing when I'm going through a White bass phase, is like pulling teeth. I'd almost rather stay in the shop and work, or go shopping with my wife. At the moment I'm in a White bass mood which kinda sucks because I'm not doing worth a crap catching THEM and it actually irritates me a little bit that I keep catching the crap out of decent Largemouth....cuz I'm not in the mood to do THAT now. "Oh it's another darn green bass, son of a....". Pretty sure I'm a nut case.

Wouldn't care? I could have bought property in the Glaize area and built there just as easily. I chose to build here for a reason. The difference between the Glaize and the Gravois is like the difference between Taneycomo and NFOW. How would the NFOW folks feel if everyone hauled all of their 15"+ rainbows and browns to Taneycomo? Same river !

I can tell ya this......If they come factory rigged with black motors on them, then it's nothing more than a cash grab, squeezing the last bit of worth from the Forrest L Wood name and reputation. If it's anything other than just another boat then it has to have an Evinrude motor on it. Not dogging Mercs, but from a genuine consumer care standpoint they can not put a Mercury on it. Bet they do though.
