  1. I only play that way when it's one of my kids. If it's a same caliber fishing buddy he'd better be on his game.
  2. I have 12 acres to build a range on. Or we could use just about any MDC access. Far as I know there's no airgun restrictions at any of them. I'll get a Gamo (or 3) bought pretty soon and if some of y'all want to put something together I'd probably be up for it. Sounds like a blast.
  3. Mid 60's in the upper Gravois. The green bass are definitely schooling up, once you catch one you're likely to catch several, but lots of normally good areas are producing blanks. The Crappie guys and the catfish guys are having the most fun of all right now I think. They seem to be biting equally good everywhere.
  4. I love the competition. You can bet that if we're fishing together I am doing my best to stay a few up on you. No denying that. I dislike the fact that so many fish are being moved around nowadays though. That bugs me to no end. Turn them loose right where you caught them and I don't care if you're in a tournament or not, I'll back you up 100% and even help you if I can.
  5. I've heard that windy bank thing a million times so it must be a real thing SOMEWHERE. Personally I've yet to see a day where wind blown areas were any better than wind sheltered areas. Matter of fact 5 of my top most consistently productive spots just happen to be West side banks that are opposite the prevailing wind. Now that I think about it I don't know of a single spot on an East side or a South side bank that has ever produced well for me on Whites. All of my best areas are either along Northside or Westside banks or Northside/Westside coves. And right inline with the age old saying, I've never had a really good day during an Easterly wind regardless of where I'm at.
  6. Well I found ONE, so I'm sure there was a boatload nearby. They weren't in the mood to eat. Green bass were plentiful.
  7. Make up your mind. First it was B.A.S.S., and now it's Me and my kind. Just go ahead and say it..... Everyone but YOU and your kind did it. Well thank you for not feeding the alligators. God only knows how fat they would be now if YOU had done it too.
  8. The only downside to cool Fall River fishing is the LEAVES, and the fact that it's getting too cold to wet wade so you have to dress for the occasion. The fish are still fired up, they don't care.
  9. No, WE did that. And I am as guilty as anyone else. I didn't quit competing because it was getting rediculous and I was concerned about relocating fish, I quit because I wasn't willing to do what it takes to stay on top and I figured if I wasn't going to give it my everything... then why even bother. I certainly would have been excited about a change in the scoring method though. Immediate score and release is absolutely the best thing all around, and it blows my mind that so few seem to be in favor of it.
  10. An air gun silhouette shoot would be a lot of fun. I don't wanna drive 2 hours to do it though.
  11. If you can't rotate the head and shaft (by loosening the depth adjustment) to rectify that then your cable sync is off.
  12. Wind should lay down about 3:30 - 4:00 and offer a good evening shot at them. Thursday will probably be our high pressure day when you can't buy a bite to save your life.
  13. Once you cut the tip of the nozzle off you're screwed, because now it can seep out into the lid, and it's all downhill from there.
  14. Good Grief
  15. I don't like it. Battery connections need to be clean and TIGHT, as in with a wrench tight. That hand tight business is asking for trouble. And get rid of those jumper cables!!! If you have to swap a battery over to get started in an emergency then so be it (but if you do then there's a problem in your system that needs attention), but using jumper cables down in the bilge area of a boat is a huge No No. Get them out of there and throw them back in your truck or garage.
  16. If they had any confidence in what they were doing, and why they were (or weren't) doing it, then they would gladly participate in discussions here. They either think we are a bunch of idiots and that they are too aloof to attempt reasoning with us, or they are afraid of being eaten alive. A closed mouth gathers no feet.
  17. I was going to go hit them today, but it's currently blowing 18 mph steady from the NW with gusts to 25+, so I think I'll wait and see what tomorrow brings.
  18. That's why I threw in the word "alleged". I have alot of respect for true Christians, but very little for phoney ignorant people, afraid to own their true thoughts and feelings, who pretend to be Christian because that's what they think they are supposed to do.
  19. My 8 year old can't be trusted with it either, but I have no problem using it to the very last drop. Wipe the tip off before putting the cap on. Don't leave the cap off for 5 minutes while you're jacking around. Keep the bottle upright and not just rolling around on the floor.
  20. Hybrids are not technically sterile since under controlled circumstances you can make babies from a male and a female hybrid. 2 Hybrids are unlikely to make babies in the wild, but Hybrids are quite capable of reproducing or backcrossing in the wild with both parent species. Stripers migrate into rivers (like salmon) to spawn. Their eggs are buoyant so they can tumble down the river until they hatch. This keeps them oxygenated until they hatch. Stripers run WAY up larger flows to spawn so that the eggs can drift for days. White Bass are similar but their eggs are adhesive and not buoyant. They attach to vegetation or rocks in rivers and creeks and the flow keeps them oxygenated until hatching. Therefore whites usually only run up creeks a couple miles at most. The hybrid's eggs are not buoyant enough to tumble in the current like a striper, and are not adhesive enough to properly attach to rocks or vegetation. They sink to the bottom and end up in slackwater Eddy's where most become covered in sediment. This results in suffocation and a low probability of hatchlings. Male hybrids however are quite capable of fertilizing the eggs of female whites (in the wild)...and they do it all the time. Oldplug, Most of the fish y'all are catching down there are these mutts. They are kinda hard to tell the difference until you happen into a school of pure White bass but once you have a day when you catch several of each you'll notice the difference, especially if you clean a few messes of them. The tongue patches are weird, the lines above the lateral have a different pattern back by the tail, and the hinge on their jaw is thicker/bonier. The Frankenstein's also do this quivering thing when you gill-clamp them to pick them up. Pure whites just go limp.
  21. Appreciate it. I don't know how deeply into it I'm likely to get. I haven't messed with airguns since I was 10. Once I got my first .22 the airguns went to rust. The old Daisy Powerline pumps and the old Crosman pump guns used to loose their juice if you carried them "ready to fire" with the safety on, so really they were worthless for hunting anything except bullfrogs or something that would sit there and wait for you to pump it 10 times. That was always my biggest hangup with trying to kill critters with an air rifle. I assume that the newer (and better) guns are better in that regard? I have plenty of squirrels and rabbits around here that I wouldn't mind making an occasional stew out of, but neighbors are just close enough that you have to pick your shots with a rimfire or shotgun VERY CAREFULLY. A good airgun would eliminate that concern and we could have some fun with it around here.
  22. Gotcha. Exactly.
  23. They are fisheries biologists who have St.Christopher medallions swinging off the rear view mirror, or Jesus fish on the back of their vehicles. They are messing with our fish because they think they are smart, and they need projects to justify their phoney baloney jobs.
  24. Well, what do the higher quality rifles in the 500 - 700.00 class have that the 200.00 Gamo's don't? I can't imagine much more accuracy or killing power coming from any spring powered air rifle, at any price. Do they just last longer, better components, or what ? Do the 200.00 rifles get sloppy after awhile?
  25. I realized a long time ago that I was gonna live a way better life by working on those guys boats than I was by trying to beat them at fishing all the time. If you are going to be a top tier money winning bass fisherman then you have to BASS FISH every time you go out. If you're dickin' round wasting your time with crappie, whites, river smallies, and trout, then you're likely to be several notches down in the check getting line next weekend. I always had trouble with that part because I love all kinds of fishing. The guys taking 1st thru 3rd in the upcoming weeks will be the ones NOT posting deer pics on Facebook. Guarantee ya that.
