  1. He wouldn't have done anything. When I was younger one of my favorite things to do was shoot crows. The farmers all hated them and were always glad to let us blast them all we wanted to and let them rot. Not sure why they hated them so much. How much harm can a dozen or so crows truly do to a 200 acre cornfield? It was good wing shooting practice, but nowadays I kinda like crows. Hummingbirds and cardinals with 3" magnum loads of #6's seem like a better alternative to me now.
  2. I do, even though I haven't been on Stockton since 2002 and have no plans to visit there anytime soon. I am strongly opposed to it because I know far too well how it is and what it's like. Doesn't matter though, you can't stop it. Once a place gets loud, crowded, and rowdy it either stays that way or gets even worse. I challenge you to name just one place that was once quiet and peaceful, then turned wild and crazy, and now is quiet and peaceful again. And Camp Zoe, Times beach, and Chernobyl don't count.
  3. Yep, and I haven't heard a single word in favor of this plea deal. Everyone who has spoken up about it so far is flaming pissed. A month AFTER the Ellingson drowning a guy allowed one of his friends to sit on the gunnels of a runabout, the friend fell out and drowned....and the guy (I'm pretty sure) has already been sentanced, milked of all his assets, and sent to prison. No mention of him or the friend being intoxicated....just careless operation of an occupied vessel.
  4. Right in my back yard it is, and wait... something is missing. I can't quite place it. Oh I know what it is now...... it's ME.
  5. Well, anytime you have a group of people that once enjoyed the atmosphere of a place, and then another group of people move in to that place and change the atmosphere, there's gonna be hard feelings. There's not always a right and a wrong, but the us vs. them thing is inevitable. People that enjoy calm quiet places never go to loud crowded places and start forcing everyone to quiet down or leave........but it almost always happens that rowdy hell raisers come to calm quiet places and force their atmospheric wishes, forcing the other team to either DEAL WITH IT OR LEAVE. And that is bull anyway you try to justify it.
  6. We didn't catch any behind the bowfishers but that doesn't mean anything because there were numerous areas where we didn't get bit. I wonder what draws gar to a certain area? There are 4-5 places within a 10 mile stretch where there are ALWAYS gar sipping and slurping year round, and none of the places has anything noticably in common.
  7. Yeah I noticed. How much is that info worth to ya?
  8. The cooler weather has kicked off a dandy topwater bite in the backs of coves. Anything right up on the shoreline has the potential to hold a good fish (boat ramp, dock walkway, edge or corner of a shallow seawall, a cable dipping into the water, ect.). If the guy in the front throws noisy stuff that moves fast, like a popper or a buzzbait, and the guy in the back walks a hollow bodied frog or throws a spook...... you should have some fun. Should last until it heats back up again. Just be sure to cast right up to the bank, or actually smack the seawall because if your cast lands 2' from the bank you won't get near as many bites. Early and late are obviously best but the middle of the day is still pretty good.
  9. My Moto X has updated to XXX
  10. I don't get it. WTH???
  11. Yeah raising the length limit wouldn't be a bad move if they are going to keep on hauling fish to the scales, because a limit of 15 inchers isn't going to take any checks here. Ever.
  12. Yeah and then you get stupid restrictions like "can't have a boat in your driveway'. I get them not wanting to look at 3 rusty old cars on concrete blocks..... but c'mon!
  13. Somebody doing something loud in a public place for a few minutes is not a big deal, but someone keeping it up for hours is just rude.
  14. Hey, Good Job! The bigger bass (over 4#) get really scarce up this way after Spring. I assume that is because by then most of the catchable toads have been hauled away. The bigger fish in the upper Gravois pretty much have to be born and grow up here. There are only a few tournaments out of Gravois access. When they do have one it is small and pretty much everyone fishes close.
  15. You don't walk into a restaurant and start jammin' to loud music. Nobody does it in Wal-Mart or the grocery store either even though it would likely make the experience more enjoyable. What makes those places more sacred than a lake or a river? If you want music blasting into your head then put in a set of ear buds and crank it. Was at a place a few weeks ago and the DJ was taking requests so I requested 5 minutes of silence. He gives me a thumbs-up.....and then this Followed by "Turn Down for What", just to show me that he was a more professional smartass than I was. 😁
  16. Being a mechanic I not only look at travel costs as "the cost of fuel". I consider wear and tear and MY TIME. I used to enjoy driving, but anymore I hate it. At least once a month I have some idiot swerve into my lane threatening a head-on, so anything that shortens my time spent behind the wheel is worth 3X the cost of fuel to me.
  17. It's pretty much just a hassle you'll have to put up with. Like you I've given up on gluing. I go through at least a 1/2 bag of craws every day whether I take the time to glue them or not. Rage craws are the worst, they hit cables and stuff and just tear right off. Zoom super speed craws and Critter craws/Guido bugs don't rip off near as bad for me. I've never tried them but I can't imagine the bait buttons doing anything to help the issue.
  18. Thank Dog! What about the screenshot of chiefs post ? How many leaves on the quoted post of mine ?
  19. Did it again today with a partner. 4 keepers and 5 shorts on or around deeper brush, 3 keepers and 3 shorts up on the shallow flats. Once again several of the deeper fish had sores and were not all that handsome looking. One of the shallow fish was near 4# which made the shallow keepers outweigh the deep fish this time (barely). The shallow fish were scrappier too, bit more aggressively, fought harder, and looked healthier by far. Water was cooling down today. 79-81° in the same areas as yesterday. Spoke to a guy that has been out pulling little Arkie cranks for crappie, and he is catching some nice size bass, some up to 5#, and numerous 13-14" crappie out in the middle of nowhere at a depth of 5-7'. He says his bass are "pretty beat up looking and skinny, and the crappie are pretty thin and full of dissolving white eggs". Saw 2 dead gar in one area and we were thinking "oh wow....a GAR KILL IS GOING ON". But then we rounded a bend and there was a bowfishing rig. Explained that right away. Bowfishing is a cool sport but I still can't warm up to killing fish and just throwing them back in the lake. I'm sure the turtles appreciate it.
  20. So my little emoticons look different to others ? That's disappointing. What good are they then? What kinda fish is this 🐟? And what is this one 🐋? I send this one to my wife all the time 😘. If it is something other than a kissy face thing that might explain why I'm always on her chit-list.
  21. What?!!!!!????!!!!!
  22. What about it doesn't resemble Poison ivy? I think your device might be showing it differently....or something. 3 leaves.... check. Green.... check. Top leaf a little larger..... check. Is this just another one of those Chief/Wrench things where just because I said it, it's wrong? It looks more like Poison ivy than the tuna looked like a salmon, so give me a break, ya nit picking back paddler.
