  1. I was trying to be funny there. But yeah.
  2. Never tried it with Royalex but OT Polylink is real easy to work with using nothing more than one of these...
  3. Versailles is the poorest excuse of a town I have ever known. They can't even do a Wal-Mart or a McDonald's right. I do all I can to avoid driving thru or spending a single dime in that berg. Even the soil and plates of the earth are trying to put that town out of its misery so that the Amish can till it up and plant something worthwhile there. Versailles is what happens when you have Amish, Jehovah witnesses, and Baptists all wife swapping and marrying each other. So much religious tension in that town that someday Abraham is gonna parachute down and start whacking off all the pee-pee's.
  4. It ain't "mitten", ya Hoosier ! You're just saying it like that to hide your cityness. ?
  5. Everybody says it differently. Gra-voice, Grav-oy, Grav-iz, Grav-oiz, Grav-ice, or Grav-eye. There's even a few (even locals) that say Grav-eyte..... No idea how or why they think a T needs to be thrown in there. I even say it differently myself depending on the context of the sentence. One thing is for dam sure.... The name is the ONLY thing complicated about THIS town. ? Pretty simple little area. I love it that way too. Hope it never changes. "Grav-oyz" is proper....But WGAF? ?
  6. If they do that consistent up/down craziness this Spring we may have a jacked up spawn bite. Not sure if they'll try to keep the lake low through the Spring, but if they do it will kinda suck. So much for a good run of Whites. ? http://m.lakeexpo.com/news/lake_news/huge-bagnell-dam-project-to-add-million-pounds-of-concrete/article_6b125cb6-d750-11e6-8742-4b20533c5c5d.html?mode=jqm
  7. The surprise deal does seem like a waste of time and effort, and kinda lame. I mean what pro fisherman doesn't have some knowledge of Lake O, let's be real. It couldn't have been that much of a secret because I heard they were coming a day or two in advance....And who the heck am I? I just didn't know where they were launching until someone from the Coffman access area posted something on FB that morning. I went out that evening after work and spoke to a guy from OK that I'm pretty sure was part of their crew. I did real well that evening on a swim jig around 8-12' brush. It was one of my better days.
  8. Yeah a 2 lber is definitely 15". I don't remember him catching that many good ones, but they all looked smaller to me than the weight they called out, so you might be right. Camera angle tricked me a bunch.
  9. True that. But in a format like that if you run into a bunch of them you're a fool if you leave them to go look for bigger ones. 4 shorts is as good as a 4-5 pounder. I think Watson had him on 15+" fish.
  10. Yeah that's what I was alluding to earlier in this thread. It would be a tough decision to make.....Do I try to catch 5-8 2+ pounders or do I go for the 25+ 12-14 inchers. You can rack up some weight pretty quick if you truly concentrate on agressive short fish. And if you just so happen to catch a biggun....YeeHaa!
  11. Well, it's a reality show and that's the reality of fishing. Nobody goes out there and just slays all the hogs. Not very often anyway. ?
  12. No need to be the first one arriving at an area, you can just hop in front of whoever is in your way when you get there and flip'em the bird. ? Someone said they get the same amount of money whether they win or lose. Is that true? Said that a percentage of what the show brings in is divided equally among the participants. Nobody gets paid for quite awhile. That keeps them honest and bound by the contract. K.Short wasn't allowed to let anyone know that he won before the show aired. If he had blabbed and they could prove it he would have been in breech.
  13. Do you have a title for the Merc ? If so can you post a pic of it. Thanks
  14. We used to allow the dog to be in the mix for added excitement, but as he got better at it the cost of birdies went up too much. ?
  15. Have you ever tried a jigging spoon inside a tube bait ? If you size it to where the tube is stretched flat it works pretty awesome.
  16. What I didn't notice was whether it bit on the initial drop, or if he jigged it off the bottom a couple times first. Wish I could see it again. I'm gonna have to buy the DVD as soon as it's available.
  17. 15-17' at the out end. About 8-10' where he caught the first one. I honestly believe he could have caught the same fish on a swim jig then, but the spoon deal is definitely something I'm anxious to play with.
  18. Rules are a bit twisted here because of a thorny bush and a lilac tree but it just adds to the challenge. No overhand serves. Race to 21 and we switch sides when the first score of 10 is reached, which keeps it fair. 7 to 0 is a skunk. Beer and/or tequila is not only allowed, it's mandatory after 3:pm unless you're under 21, in which case you may have a Redbull.
  19. Me too, it's one of my favorite things to do. I'd love to play on level ground some day. We get pretty serious about our badminton games around here, so if you're ever in the area and feeling sporty.....You just bring it !
  20. Finally got to see it this afternoon and yes it was kinda painful. All were scored and released though which is extremely soothing. As I understand there is a whole 3 hours of footage missing on the broadcast version that will be available when the DVD comes out. There was a bunch of times I was looking over their shoulder saying "you need to be over there", but maybe on the full version it will show that indeed they did. Watsons spoon deal was an eye opener for me. Not so much that he got bit but at the size of the fish that bit him right away like that during that time of the year. Once could have been luck, but not twice. I have overlooked that as a quality post spawn bite, but you can bet I'll be testing it this year. Really cool! And of course I recognized that dock immediately. Was extremely shocked at the absence of any footage from Soap or Bogue. Do I think I could have beat them? Up here yeah, but anywhere else... noway. Those boys zoomed in on some of the best spots almost immediately. How they knew where to go and figured it out so fast blows my mind, cuz it took me YEARS to eliminate alot of that water. Huge respect! In a format like that it would be hard for me to decide whether to camp out somewhere and rack up the dinks, or stay focused on 15"+ fish like I have always done. It would be alot of fun.
  21. Totally agree. My apologies on the table. Not another word out of me about it.
  22. I don't care anything about sturgeon and I don't see as they are required for ecological balance, but apparently someone somewhere loves them. I can't imagine they need much help because from what I know about them they are tougher than a gar. A guy caught one in Louisiana, Mo. and brought it all the way to Mexico, Mo. in the back of a pickup to show it off. It was still breathing so they put it in the little railroad lake east of town and the crazy thing swam off like nothing was wrong with it.
  23. Good grief.
  24. You can be sure that my finger is on the pulse of everything happening at Bennett and on the Niangua river. The girls most definitely take after me, you can count on that. Taught them everything they know.... But not everything I know. Yet. Until they can beat me at badminton I still rule the roost. ?
