  1. I may not know every word in the English language, but I certainly understood AND AGREE with what he called the person who stocked that barrel. Saying the person was a "nasty rascal guilty of criminal behavior" just doesn't get the point across quite as good IMO. It's way easier and quicker to call him a CS ! The art of proper speech lies in thrift.
  2. Would someone please positively ID this particular specimen so I can convince these knuckleheads next door that it is NOT a copperhead. Thanks
  3. Key word is "owned" Where is that 16 year old 50hp 4S now ?
  4. Google Earth/Google Maps, right at your fingertips. Better than any other map I know of.
  5. Nice work fellas! They are fun to hunt, but a bitch to clean, and taste like a dehydrated grasshopper and grub pie. Gimme a Butterball any day!
  6. This is what you have children for! Everybody says "Take a kid fishing", "Teach them how to fish, and to appreciate the great outdoors". Oh Pfffft! My dad & grampa never cared about any of that nonsense.....they just wanted someone to row the boat, fetch beers, and help carry stuff. And if you slacked or complained you got popped upside the head. It wasn't until I could outfish them that I got treated halfway decent.
  7. For heaven's sake, his vocabulary is just awful. It will take years for me to recover from hearing such vile vernacular. Who will rot in hell first? The one with the potty mouth, or the one who stocked the barrel?
  8. Love the 2-strokes. Everybody's 4-strokes are crap (Yamaha included). By "crap" I mean Short Lived. They run great when new, but soon after the warranty period expires the performance begins taking a nose dive, and the cost to refresh them is outrageous. If yours is a 2-stroke I'd love to hear what problems you're having. If it's a 4S then I already know.
  9. What causes piebald deer ? I kinda figured that the Fawn spots took over, so instead of the spots fading they expanded.
  10. I have no problem killing copperheads and cottonmouths, but what I do have a problem with is other people doing it who think every dark banded snake is a copperhead or a cottonmouth.
  11. Well I did it again this afternoon but never caught one 12+. Had a limit of 11's though, nice and fat. All but 3 were full of eggs.
  12. I caught some fat females yesterday. Towards the end of the day I finally realized the pattern on them, they were in 4-7' just off the bank, but only on the sunny side of the first dock next to a stretch without docks.....if that makes sense. It didn't matter if there was wood or anything, just had to be the first dock at the end of a stretch of bare bank. There would be at least two bigguns hanging just off the bank within casting distance of that first dock but not a single one came from the shady side.
  13. Scads of males running the banks up this way, not many females yet.
  14. Tether a solo canoe to your waist pack then you can not only have another rod (or 3), you can also bring a cooler and some grub, camera, cell phone, and a folding chair to just sit and chill on a gravel bar if you want. Wade/fish on the way up then float back down. That's the way I do it.
  15. I'll buy that. Some days you can just tell that the fish don't want to eat. Something comes over them.
  16. It sounds as if you have your heart set on the lower lake. I can't offer any worthwhile advise down there for a first timer other than pounding the wier. If it were me I'd launch at Windsor, do some map study and learn that area first. It is way more manageable and the fishing should be pretty good there.
  17. If you think pitching over them is fun you should learn to pitch UNDER them.
  18. Yeah cuz the only kind of fishing I do is pitching jigs over dock cables I'm not calling anyone out, I'm just making fun of ya for winching in scads of dinks and patting yourself on the back for it. I usually keep track of my best 5 by weight, and I know that if I am catching 3 times more shorts than keepers then I need to adjust what I'm doing. If you get a kick out of counting every fish, that's fine. I get a kick out of making fun of you for it, so don't knock me !
  19. That doesn't even remotely sound like fun. I'm not that guy. I view casting as an art form. Throwing baits out into open water all day is less satisfying than scraping gaskets.
  20. I just downloaded a clicker app on my phone. Not for counting my fish, but to keep track of how many times someone on here claims to catch over 100 fish during a 6-8 hour fishing day this year. If we get to 25 before Thanksgiving then we'll know that more guys around here need clickers. If I had to push a clicker button 100+ times PLUS hit my spool release button.....oh let's say 400-600 times....I'd have carpeltunnel syndrome in my thumb. Somebody would have to open my beer and light my cigarette for me at the end of the day. #thumblivesmatter Ham, I think you should use 2 clickers so you can count each cast. Aren't you curious about your cast per catch ratio ?
  21. How long has it been since you practiced you jump-roping skills ? Criss-cross Applesauce ! Or make a lariat, lil'cowpoke. Reclaim THOSE skills and getting in/out of that bassboat will be a cake walk.
  22. An Easterly breeze has always been a bite killer for me. Not sure what it is other than you typically only get a East wind during the heart of a cold front. On Okeechobee you can't even find a guide to take you out when a Easterly wind is blowing, cuz they know. I've heard that the further North you travel the less it matters. I believe that.
  23. Yeah a 10" strip of tread plate welded or bolted to the Starboard side of the trailer frame would be nice sometimes. I don't understand the concern about the winch strap. You ain't gonna break that thing unless it's old and rotten. Hell I've pulled trucks out of ditches with them.
  24. The main (intended) part of the trout water is from Bennett Spring down to Ho Humm, as that is the area they stock. Of course there are always some above and some below.
