  1. Are you tapped into the trolling motor battery(s) for 12v to the sonar unit? If so move those leads over to the cranking battery.
  2. It's called a Robert's wrap.
  3. Not bad! Tell Zip that those Wal-Mart primer bulbs are junk, they'll save the day but that's about it. Get a real one pretty soon.
  4. Actually things DO change. Having sex with your sister was an Ozark tradition for many years too..... But finally they decided it wasn't such a good idea, and hardly anyone does that anymore. #evolution
  5. http://www.417news.com/2016/03/02/agencies-respond-several-mobile-home-fires-near-bennett-spring/
  6. Oh don't worry, I'm firmly in check when I'm on here. I don't want to get backhanded by Phil any more than absolutely necessary.
  7. Nobody would publish them, I cuss too much and go off on tangents.
  8. Seawalls are a "pattern" even when they are high and dry, out of the water. Crawdads like to burrow in at the base of seawalls, and will stay nice and damp there all Winter even though the water is pulled down away from them. When the ground warms up in the early Spring those crawdads will come out from under the seawalls and crawl 5-10+' to the waters edge. It's like a hatch, and on a calm quiet day you can hear them scratching through the gravel and rocks all along certain banks for several days. You can walk along the bare bank between the seawall and the edge of the water and pick up hundreds (thousands?) of them if your timing is right. Coincidentally that is when the Wiggle-Wart bite is as good as it gets.
  9. Your intentional spin on my views and statements is rediculis. I'm not even gonna counter that.
  10. If it's a buck-fifty hamburger you kinda expect mediocre. But when it's a nine-dollar one I expect a pickle and for the bun to not be stale.
  11. Mono that has started to degrade will leave a white powder on your fingers when spooling it, and it will soak up alot of water and get all curly on you. Knot strength goes down the tubes. Flouro and co-poly basically have an unlimited shelf life but it does react to temperature changes, so 2-3 year old line will feel kinda stiff when you first spool it up. Give it a good stretch and it settles back down nicely.
  12. Once again, all those areas have been paid for long ago. And while MDC might write a check each year for taxes (do they really?) you seem to be ignoring who and what makes that check good. As for maintenance, I can tell you that all they did to the access nearest to me after the flood was sub-contract some landscaping business from Iberia to stop by and push the ramps clear with a bobcat (10 minutes tops). Two months later the giant piles of trash and wood debris still remain next to the ramp. We picked the trash out of it ourselves (11 big bags worth) and scooped off the courtesy dock because it looked like hell and was blowing all over the parking lot. Is this what they consider "maintenance" and allot themselves a good price for? I'd fire them if so. Jus'sayin.
  13. Not sure what they breed at Lost Valley but chances are I could do without it. That was bought and paid for long ago, unless they have recently developed a new one that you use, and it wasn't free. And keeping in mind that most all access areas have been paid for many times over it is interesting to know that IF their future funding ever gets cut they threaten to throw up gates and keep you out of them. Seem fair to you ? It doesn't to me.
  14. In the 6 county area where I spend all my time I don't know of anything, that's why I was interested in other areas. Surely they keep themselves busy I just don't know where, or doing what.
  15. A question for all: What did the MDC do, or accomplish, last year in your area that was beneficial to you, or something you care deeply about? Second question: How much did it cost? Third question: Was it worth it?
  16. Not bad at all. Those 2 you are holding are rather plump. Good job.
  17. Yeah I'd pull the pin. You can also adjust the tilt tension with the 9/16 nut at the front of the mount. Adjust it so that it will hold itself tilted and you won't have to mess with the tilt lock. When you want to deploy it just give it a little push on the cowling.
  18. Hey Tyler. Although most of us use boats it should be enlightening to hear that 90% of the fish are caught within casting distance of the bank, so while it may take a bit more excersize to access the fish you'll still have an equal opportunity to catch them. Don't skimp on tackle just because you lack a boat, good quality gear enhances the experience regardless of where your standing when a fish bites. Until you can afford a boat, a pair of waders will help, and they are affordable. Welcome.
  19. Just a heads-up before volunteering for things like this....Make darn sure you are properly insured ! I know that I am not.
  20. Good! He'll grow up in the river and become a fine occupant. Unless you ate him that is.
  21. Said the tree about the axe.
  22. I have tried it during the first couple hours of darkness but they definitely bit better before dark. Maybe it gets better after midnite? I once tried during a full moon in April. Caught them good during the day but totally blanked under the light of the moon even though I could hear and see them chasing each other around. I assume they were too busy making love to eat. It happens.
  23. Hwy. Patrol. Hope nobody was on it.
  24. Only if your pedestal base is close to the water line. Don't elevate the deck more than a couple inches from the water line and it will be fairly stable. The higher above the water line you go, the less stable it becomes.
