Regatta permits are applied for far in advance. The number of boats is a "close guess" usually on the high side. If you are looking for a club or circuit to fish solo you just have to study their individual rules, usually spelled out on their website.

Well I always kinda figured that the range where you see alot of returns (life) on the graph kinda indicated that was the area of preferred water quality. But NOW biologists are saying stuff that indicates the fish are too clueless to seek out prime water conditions and they are just found where they are because that is where they are.... and they don't know which way to go in order to find better quality water. You guys saying that fish seek out the thermocline, but yet don't seek out water with the desired oxygen content are really confusing me. Do water conditions move fish OR NOT? Make up your mind.

Nope, knowing where the thermocline is/or isn't has never made or broke a day for me. Sometimes I notice it on the graph (always around 22-26' here) but I seldom if ever have to fish that deep to catch decent fish on the lakes I fish. I've fished TR plenty in the past and have always managed to do well enough and never fished any deeper than 15-18'.

Seriously! Why are y'all not carrying O2 and pH meters with 50' probes ? The thought that you could be wasting time FISHING in substandard water should drive you crazy.

Dang, you're a STUD! Been fishing that river for 20 years and never seen a 18 come out of it. I did have one on once that might have been 18+ but I never got a good look at it. I might do a little better if I used gear, I always flyfish it.

Sounds good (believable to a degree). With all that inflow of fresh water though (from all directions including from the sky) I just have a hard time buying that there are massive layers of oxygen depleted water that just stays stratified in it's poor condition without mixing.

My biggest from the LN is 17". I consider a 15 to be a good fish for that river and I usually catch one or two each trip. 10-13 inchers are the norm. 14 inchers don't exist, if they are over 13 then they are 15+.

I'm not doubting that if you take the oxygen from the water that fish will die, I am doubting that there is actually oxygen depletion to that degree to begin with. And if it truly is then there shouldn't be a live fish in a pond ANYWHERE. My point is that IF itvis due to oxygen depletion then I don't believe it got depleted because of heavy rain and high water. Again ANDY!!!! I don't claim to know WHY fish are dead, I just don't think the biologist do either. What causes fish to not swim below the thermocline and die from low oxygen ? And why are shad not dying by the dump truck loads?

A #6 clouser with 1/50oz. eyes should be a staple. Chart./white, Pink/white, Gray/white. Fish with a sink-tip.

It is actually a OT Guide 147. Designed as a tandem but makes a better solo as long as your not a limp-wristed sissy and can lift it OK. Not a "fast" canoe by any means but it lived through a tornado and has done me well for over 10 years. If I ever wear it out I'll buy another one.

From a creationist point of view I don't see how that theory can even make it into your brain. For starters Bass have been around longer than impoundments and their thermoclines. 16' minimum. A 14' (if you are pushing 240 and plan to take on other passengers) is borderline insane, especially on the Missouri river. The best all around Jon in existence is a 1648MV with 20" transom. It will do it all, and do it safely while still floating in ankle deep water.

It didn't fish very well today, water is low and for some reason it is kinda murky everywhere except below the springs. I caught a bunch of little ones but nothing hefty. The springs are really pumping out the volume now....which is a good sign. I guess the groundwater is still in good shape. Lots of my favorite holes have changed with the floods, that kinda bummed me out.

There are lots of goggle-eye above Bennett, and they are suckers for a 1/8oz. 4" pumpkin colored worm. Look for wood cover in the slow deeper pools. They taste better than the Z1 trout do.

What was the point of that video ? He wanted to upload his first catch of the day..... Or that was his ONLY catch of the day? If the river is so full of them then where's the vid or pic of the "limit" I wonder. I'm betting that he drug that dink around all day, then when it got stiff and he didn't have enough to bother getting a knife dirty he pitched it in the weeds.
