  1. I'd say to return it to whoever installed the new powerhead. Bolting everything to a fresh powerhead without determining what caused the initial failure is just begging for a repeat powerhead failure.
  2. They are EXACTLY where they are supposed to be. LM Bass are creatures of shallow water, you've just read too many articles written by those sissy's out West where their "bass" aren't even REAL.
  3. Now you've done it. I expect a froggin report thread in the next 48 hours. I can't ever remember seeing one here in all the years of OAF. Get On'em boys! I bet Billetheads secret pond is LOADED!
  4. Everybody is prolly sick of hearing this but I'm still hammering them in less than 4'. Spinnerbaits and 9 1/2" worms.
  5. Hmmmm, well I'd have to have been there I suppose, but saying you were "running SAFELY just behind and off to the side of another boat". is a bit of an oxymoron.
  6. You are such a bird dog.
  7. True, but oddly enough I still don't want the government further involved in boating.
  8. Boat ramp weirdness is always entertaining. I saw some yesterday that I'd share if I even knew what the heck was going on. It looked so out of control that I truly didn't want to get involved, so I never even asked. I got mine loaded and got the hell out of there.
  9. If a biologist says it then you MUST believe it.
  10. The commercial fishermen on the Mississippi used to sell alot of drum so apparently somebody enjoys eating them. I believe I'll forego them at this time though. No shortage yet of fish I already enjoy catching and eating so the drum get a pass.
  11. I've hunted a few of their specially managed quail areas in the past. Nice land/no birds. I fail to see the point of it. Making old farm land suitable for quail is easy.... Just leave it alone.
  12. Close call yesterday about 5:30

    What's Cooking?

I do enjoy this thread though, don't get me wrong. If I ever find myself homeless I hope that one of you will adopt me.
  14. Oh NO YOU DON'T, you ain't off the hook THAT easy. You said you were going to go out yourself and load the boat and show us all how it's supposed to be done! Now you can pray about it, and you can even use live bait.....but you gotta DO IT. C'mon now.

    What's Cooking?

No, I think you become a gourmet chef by being bored, in a kitchen, and not very hungry. Nobody starts rattling pots and pans around here until everyone is starving, and at that point there's no time or desire for all that fancy business. We just want something reasonably healthy to shove in our faces and we want it done soon.
  16. I've only caught one over 20" in my life so I really shouldn't even say this.....but does a 20 incher fight any better than a 16-17" ? I know with largemouth once they get to 4lbs they pretty much never jump, they just come to the surface and shake their head. Seems about the same for smallmouth over 17". A 15-16 inch Smallie is a hotrod and full of tricks. Plenty challenging on the gear I use. 18 inchers (of which I've caught quite a few) have that extra weight but they really don't seem to have the energy and fight that those slightly younger fish have.
  17. I'm not of the thinking that lots of Smallies over 17" is particularly a good thing. An 18-20" river small mouth SHOULD be a special catch, instead of something to be disappointed about when you don't catch one. And I'm not 100% sure that I wouldn't rather see a 20 incher on a stringer than a 15. Odds are that a 20 inchers days are numbered anyway.
  18. Looks like just a nice white.
  19. I'm guessing that the drawdown is gonna have the fish of Truman in a funk for quite awhile. Should make for a good season on the tailwater though.
  20. Ahhh, the youth of America. And to think you are the reason we can't say "s#it" even if we have a mouthful around here. So are you figuring these fish out yet ?
  21. Wait a freakin minute here, Dennis the Menace. You said you had the brakes and magnets cranked down and it was still over-running. SOMETHING is probably wrong with it. I've got smartass remarks that'll last you through college, so get over yourself.
  22. Nice job on the Crappie, you're the only one I've heard of that it catching them that well.
  23. What are you fishing for ? Nets in a boat are a pain but I guess if you're fishing for toothy critters or big cats they are nice to have.
