  1. Hey, that's teal ! Who's got the teal ?!!
  2. Wow, you've been busy. Those look great !
  3. I think y'all are jumping the gun a little. I'd wait until after a decent rain that puts a little rise on the river, then start hitting it while the river is falling back out.
  4. Yeah, hold me back a handful of them. I'll get them from you this Spring.
  5. Check the water in the battery, make sure the plates are fully covered. Add distilled water before recharging if they aren't. Your TM won't pull the battery down completely dead so no worries there.
  6. Should work just fine. Be sure to keep an eye on the water level in the battery since you are charging at over 10amps (could boil dry over time). Recharge time will depend on plate thickness and such in the battery, but I would expect it to recharge from a full day of fishing in 4-6 hours.
  7. So do you deduct from that, that they are NOT stocking or stocking fewer ?
  8. Red Fox Squirrel Nymph http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/flybox/print.cfm?parentID=112
  9. Well, the trout are new and fresh, and haven't seen the old stuff you're sick of tying and looking at. They'll eat it. I feel your pain though, I'm sick of tying the same ol' stuff too. RFSN Copper john Psycho prince Mohair leech <heavy sigh> ....but they just keep biting them. Whaddaya do ?
  10. Good job, fellas! As fun as that was to read I can imagine how much of a hoot it was to be there and live it. So you like that swivel headed contraption, hu ? I guess I need to give one a try.
  11. Coming from someone that lost it all in a storm and had to restock, here's my suggestion.... Rather than go out and suffer thru a major shopping event which is going to result in more impulse buying than you think, I would only buy what you need for Late Winter/early Spring. Then add tackle as the yearly patterns progress. Sure you could go ahead and restock your mainstay tried and true stuff that you know you'll have to have, but lots of things are in the developmental stages still at this time so I'd play it cool and wait it out. In other words: Give those Wiggle Wart copiers time to get it right before dumping 200.00 on the song being sung NOW... just to find out there's something better on the horizon when the WW bite really begins.
  12. Oh yeah, here's another tip that'll save you from wasting a day and casting your arm off: If the first fish you catch is a huge drum....just roll up your toys, put the boat back on the trailer, and go do something else you enjoy for the rest of the day. Drum days are the worst.
  13. Captive deer SHOULD BE classified as livestock, shouldn't they ? If not, then what are they ? Pets? When did it become legal to keep captive "wildlife" (other than at a zoo) in the first place ?
  14. I haven't played with any of that stuff yet so I have to remain neutral there. I normally work each area over with a jerkbait first, then move in for a second pass and tickle the rocks with a hula grub. From what I've seen lately I'd say you could substitute the Chomper for a goose turd fished the same way and do just fine. I just have a longstanding confidence thing with the Chomper in cold water so that's what I stick with. Don't know how much it matters but I special order UN-SCENTED 5" Chompers from TRBT because I have a mental hangup with that reeking-@ss garlic crap.
  15. LOL. That's nothin', Ham mentioned his elbow was hurting... and before long we'll have everybody's medical records on file.
  16. True. I've seen that (sparseness) taken to the extreme though. You still have to have enough hair to slow the fall. As long as you can drop a dry clouser on a magazine page and be able to see the print behind the hook bend then you're good. The ones above look a bit too long for my taste. A #6 clouser from my box measures 2 1/4" and a #4 is just a hair over 2 1/2". Might sound crazy but 1/4" can make or break you, even on aggressive feeders like White bass. If you see a lot of fish flashing behind your fly without feeling them hammer it then shortening the fly usually turns all those near hits into solid takes. Synthetic hair can be trimmed to whatever length you want onstream, but with bucktail you are stuck with it the way it came off the vise. I still favor natural bucktail though.
  17. Depending on where you are at visibility is from 2-6ft. and surface temps range from frozen to 42°
  18. Oh, and I find it kinda hard to imagine that "deer farmers" carry that much weight in Mo. Legislation circles. I know a few, and they ain't nuthin special to anybody upstairs I don't think. LOL
  19. I don't have a clue, and really don't even care. The only dog I have in the fight is the implication that someone from MDC made in one of the related news feeds that IF funding was cut that gates would start going up at MDC accesses. That hacked me off because all that land has already been paid for. I don't give a flip if they choose to quit mowing the grass or cleaning logs off ramps (which THEY usually don't do anyway...) But threatening to close those areas off to us just because the gravy thickens a bit....Or installing the fear that gates will go up if funding EVER gets sliced...makes my blood boil. That's BS !
  20. I started mountain biking again last year and up until it started getting cold I was feeling like Iron Man again. Haven't been for a good long ride in over 2 months and the energy level I had built up has taken a rapid nose dive. I need to get back on that bike and refrain from taking long breaks from it. There is always an excuse to do something other than go for a ride, and that is just bs. Orion (my hyper pup) needs the excersise too.
  21. I don't. But assuming that is no different than assuming it is all about some pissy inside vendetta, right ?
  22. I perceive that "whole purpose" statement as an assumption more than a genuine fact. I can't help but think it is either much deeper than that.....Or much shallower (scare tactic propaganda devised to shine a light somewhere else so that nobody looks very hard at what is taking place in the shadows).
  23. I continue to fish thru pain and assorted ailments because fishing is pretty much the only thing that I truly give a crap about in life. Sounds awful to say that but it's true. Anything that causes my fishing to stop completely is considered the Ultimate Disaster, and I might as well start choosing a gravesite. Society as a whole can go straight down the crapper as far as I'm concerned, and as long as there are still fish in the creeks and rivers, and all the monkeys stay on the right end of the planet, I can remain mentally unaffected.
  24. On a positive note..... I haven't had a repeat episode on the same spot. It is almost like once you've healed the area it strengthens/toughens it.
