  1. I simple and inexpensive mod with Hamby's hull protectors would make them almost bulletproof
  2. I dunno if they say it.....but they sure seem to act on it when I am behind the rod. LOL Brian, yeah I know it's just one of those quirks I have accidentally developed. I don't know what it is with me but if a fly has eztaz on it anywhere I have a hard time even tying it on and trying it.... a carry-over from too many short strike and refusals earlier in life. Dude, I can't even catch a bluegill on a eztaz containing fly. It's obviously mental but I gotta roll with it. Other materials just seem to catch fish no matter how they're thrown on a hook... Like; Peacock herl Mohair Ice dub Angel hair/ or lite bright Marabou Med.round rubber biots deer hair squirrel and rabbit strips (No matter how I slap the above material on a hook....it's gonna catch fish) Here's some other stuff that I pretty much stay away from because regardless of the pattern the material alone is just cursed ; Uni-stretch black beads poly-dubbing (antron is good to me, but poly is asking to be skunked) dun colored hackle (no idea how it got to be so popular) And there's something about anything tied on a TMC 200R smaller than a #10 (looks good/ won't get bit) Just weird personal stuff that I've noticed over time and eventually just given in to. Kinda proves (to me) how important mental attitude is to a persons success. Oh, and I don't even like to fish anywhere near someone with orange flyline
  3. Recluses, BW's, and their demon cousins just LOVE outboard motors that have been setting awhile and I have run-ins with them alot. The creepy basturds, I hate them! I've noticed quite a few dead lizards and toads around my shop this year and I suspect that I have either a tarantula or some scorpions hiding out somewhere. I just know one of those mofo's is gonna surprise me one day soon and I'll scream like Jamie lee Curtis.
  4. I am really surprised that PWC's are not more common on the rivers. As soon as someone discovers that running the St. Francis or the falls at ROLF, or just seeing how far up the creeks they can run with a modified PWC is more "extreme" and challenging than jumping wakes, it's gonna really ruffle some feathers. That day is coming too, I guarantee it..... so some bud-nipping NOW (concerning motorized watercraft use) might be a real good thing to start pushing for.
  5. Might just be that particular area, I have ATT and it rocks everywhere I go. One alternative would be to grab a cheap Tracfone from wal-mart and a 120 minute card.....those things get signal if ANYONE does.
  6. Fixed I hate Eztaz, it's a bite killer for me.
  7. I scrapped about a dozen old pedestals a month or so ago, who knew? It never fails that when I get tired of tripping over stuff and finally just pitch it....someone always hollers about needing it. Typical.
  8. Since the bearings have been taken off the crank I assume the block/crankcase lived ?
  9. That's the prettiest thing I've seen so far today Need help with it or is it already back in service? Even though I wouldn't immediately blame that on cavitation (over-rev) I would advise making sure a rev limiter is in the ignition circuitry of all jet pump outboards. Was there detonation afterwards that took out #1 ? If the crank is gonna break that's the best place for it to snap.
  10. Yeah SB, definately get a 4-stroke, preferrably a Suzuki if at all possible.
  11. Yeah, any crawdads or nymphs that happened to be in those paths are probably chum.
  12. Good point. And as far as actual water displacement goes it would make sense that the pump would have to move more water than the hull displaces.....otherwise it couldn't push it very well.
  13. BPS has the MinnKota Edge series on sale now, I have installed two of them over the weekend and for the money I am pretty impressed with them. Nice solid mount and all the same time-tested components as the Maxxum has. Since you'll be changing out the boat wiring, go ahead and step it up a size or two and DEFINATELY install a circuit breaker or at least a fuse link.
  14. At planing speed.....probably so, or at least equal to it I would think. Jet pumps move alot of water.
  15. Riffles are the life force of any river, and constantly running a vacuum over them is gonna have a negative effect on the system. Seth, your on-plane water displacement thoughts are a bit confused. That is true with prop powered rigs but a jet pump at over 4000 RPM displaces a lot more water.
  16. Right on GB! Shitcanned mine in 05 got tired of seeing those stupid planes, and decided I wasn't paying a monthly fee just to be fed bullshit daily in between very short and rare occasions of being slightly entertained.
  17. We still have an alligator (Wally) somewhere in the upper Gravois or possibly Indian cr. Should be pushing 10ft. by now.
  18. Your oil level sensor is in the cap of the "engine mounted" reservoir, check the oil level there....it should be completely full. Let's talk about this side-to-side business.... are you saying that the warning horn only goes off when your at WOT and chine walking? What is your max RPM?
  19. For you guys still throwing the A-rig.... Find a No-Wake bouy in 12-18ft. and cast that rig to come right by (or bump off of) the cable or rope that is tethered to it. Keep in mind that the lake is low and the cable is not hanging "straight down". A buddy of mine limited in short order doing that today and yesterday, there are keeper fish suspended around the cables. He had to go to the backends for kickers but solid 15-17 inchers are hanging around those cables. I'm too busy to go fishing so y'all tear 'em up.
  20. Jack was last seen (by me) hangin'round Gravi., so I'm callin' fib until he posts a pic
  21. Yep. He's registered here. ("Jamesedward"....or something like that) I think he has mellowed some with age , but the A-rig thread ruffled his feathers a bit. How are ya JR ?
  22. ....and lake level is falling fast. Wish they'd quit that.
  23. I don't like the sound of this. Good luck with the tune-up, Bro
  24. Here's the thing though.... How is a person guiding another person any different from that same fisherman fishing alone, as it relates to harming the fishery? Are you also not allowed to drive a leased vehicle onto MDC land, or hunt with a rented dog? I suppose that at MDC accesses which are on "navigable streams", as long as your feet are wet you technically aren't on "department property", but on smaller streams like Crane they CLAIM ownership of the stream bed and can choose to make rules like that, similar to the assumed ownership of many landowners ? Am I understanding all that correctly? Then this question comes to mind... If an angler hires a guide to fish Crane then who is breaking the rules, the angler? The guide? Or both? And is this "rule" considered a "law" ? Punishable by what?
