  1. "it held pressure" ? Hu? If you mean it "had sufficient fuel pressure output" ...then yes, it will. But the diaphram that seperates the fuel from the oil is leaking through (oil is getting to the fuel inside the pump prior to metering) so the end result is a heavy oil mixture being delivered to the carb bowls at all throttle setting, the slower fuel moves through the pump the richer the oil mixture will become. No other situation exists on that motor that will cause it to over-oil (which is what it was doing IF you were surrounded by a cloud of blue smoke at everything under mid-range throttle settings, like you said). I'm not trying to bum you out, and I mean no disrespect to your tech, but before your motor is "right" you WILL BE buying a VRO kit. I guarantee it.
  2. Not alot of smallies but they are present. You can run a prop quite a ways up if you're careful. If you slither through the shallow spots with the trolling motor, push pole, or hop out and pull the boat through you can get all the way to the whistle if you wanted to....but I've never done it. Sure seems to be alot of guys curious about this area all of a sudden The locals hit it pretty hard and apparently eat alot of fish. It's a neat area but not the hidden goldmine I was expecting when I first started exploring it.
  3. The stretch from the lake Niangua concrete dam to the Tunnel outlet is iffy water and fishes like a farm pond (lots of gar, carp, buffalo, green sunfish) unless there is a good flow coming over the dam since all you're getting is surface water from the lake pool. If you want a chance at a Gator Gar in Missouri that stretch is your best bet. The migratory fish ( whites, walleye, Lm) moving up and down from LO mostly stop just downstream of the tunnel outlet.
  4. I have some.... "spoonbill". They spend millions on that project annually and Snaggers bring nothing to the table. The only revenue gained from the spoonbill resource comes in the form of FINES for infractions during snagging season. The whole ordeal is rediculis IMO, they rip hooks into them but have to release them if under a certain length....and most usually die. (the proof of that is in all the coon bait wsshed up on the banks after snagging season). They do not, I dont think, help substancially control plankton. At least not enough to make a difference, like they claim. I think it would be in everyones interest to dump the spoonbill project all together and put that money and effort to better use.
  5. If you only knew how many 12v batteries have been "float tested" in this lake it would make you wannna cry. If they ever pull the plug on her it will take 400 dozers to clean up what gets exposed. Even without all these new laws snd regulations we are so much more thoughtful and responsible than the generations before us.
  6. Lets pick dates and see who guessed closest.... 1. When will some nimrod get busted for shooting one ? And 2. When will the first one get hit by a compact car and result in a fatality ?
  7. Really ? Cuz all I see is a bedding smallmouth getting really irratated INCOMING ! :ducks-and-covers-head-with-hands:
  8. Exactly, just a reason to get semi-serious and learn some stuff. I'm really getting the warmwater bug lately, trout fishing just keeps taking a seat further to the rear each season. I kinda have a deminishing infatuation for Put & take areas... and there isn't enough "wild water" to go around. Not reasonably close anyway, my fuel bill this year has been insane, and I very seldom even go anywhere. Whaddaya think of this Bad Boy... Sili-lizard
  9. 4 more hours with no reply and I officially call BS on Lundone's Gunfight at Golden Pond story. Fairy tales and/or dreams that seem real do not strengthen a cause.
  10. The folks at KY3 wouldn't know a trout park from a petting zoo, much less the difference between a trout park and a trout stream. So there's no sense in expecting them to be taken literally.
  11. There's a bit of a conflict of location names I think. When you say "below Tunnel darn" are you asking about the stretch below the concrete dam (spillway) of Lake Niangua, or are you talking about the area downstream of the actual tunnel outlet ?
  12. Awesome! A no-wake bouy stash.... Brilliant.
  13. I'm still waiting to hear about Lundone's bloody lakeside shootout. Where'd that guy go?
  14. The Splat is where it's at, hu? No doubt they'll eat a motionless fly pretty often, but there is something to be said about keeping it moving and not allowing the fish to get a real good look at it. And sometimes (I would confidently say "most times") you're upping your odds by covering more water with an active retrieve. There IS something about an "almost" motionless Sneaky Pete that triggers bites when nothing else gets a sniff.
  15. Ron, there was some talk awhile back about putting together a Spring flyfishing derby on Lake O, you wanna get in on it?
  16. So you shot someone and that is what kept you alive? Which newspaper printed the story?
  17. Yep, this man is 100% correct, watchdog is chock full of guys that were 18 with 16 year old girlfriends, and guys that got accused of something during a nasty divorce and couldn't afford a trial. The ones that were convicted or pled guilty and are in any way considered a potential threat are either in prison or on lifetime GPS monitoring. And most of the Amber alerts issued turn out to be initiated by someones psyco drama loving ex-wife who is covering her own butt for not being where she was supposed to be. There is noway that our neighborhoods are more dangerous now than they were 30-50+ years ago..... not a chance.
  18. Luckily I haven't had one yet that wouldn't unlatch. If the cowling hasn't been off for awhile though they do tend to stick pretty good once the rubber seal dries out. Shake the piss out of it and see if it's just stuck tight to the cowl seal.
  19. I dont know where you live, but for your childrens sake, Move Soon! Oh nevermind, I already know.... if ya move away from the "human predators" then you'll still not let them explore their neighborhood for fear of mountain lions. What a shame, man.
  20. First try pushing down hard on the rear of the cowling while pulling the release lever... depending on how big'a ol'boy you are, you might need a helper. If that fails; look under the front latch for a small silver puck (the end of the emergency secondary release) Grab it with a pair of pliers and pop her open. You cannot remove the lower cowling without getting the top off....unless you take a hammer and pry bar and go "Eric" on it.
  21. I can't believe that of all the dedicated fishermen/hunters that we have here there is not a single MDC agent or employee popping in occasionally that has the sack to assist in questions like this. Are they just reading this stuff, sitting back laughing and having a big ol'time with it like a buncha voyeurs, or are they so unclear/unsecure on it themselves that they are afraid to say anything ? You can't convince me that none of them ever scope this forum out, cuz if they don't then they pretty much suck at their job. I bet if I posted a pic of a poached spoonbill there'd be an agent on my doorstep within 4 hours. LOL
  22. With the key in, and in the off position the clip should snap right on pushing from the bottom up. No tricks. Im gonna go out on a limb and say that you more than likely have other issues that are causing the hard cold start. Those motors are extremely user friendly when everything is as it should be.
  23. Did I overdo the techy bullshit? LOL Was just trying to eliminate the questions that I knew would follow if I had just said ... "Swap the pump, it's 600 bucks". And the "well my neighbor who's uncle was a marine mechanic said I could just......."
  24. FF, Sorry about all the irritating "what ifs", but "what if" is the basis of the whole CCW issue in a nutshell, isn't it? I am proud to announce that I think I have said everything I am compelled to say about this....finally. I learned a few things during this discussion and enjoyed the rebuttal.
