Dude! Happy birthday 🥳 Good job! 👍 What were they bitin'on?

Probably too much attention to details 🙄 Too smart for my own good. I was taught by "Professionals" how to properly install, using a compass to ensure that nothing metal is nearby to negatively effect gps sensors when installing units, and all that other technical BS. Even fixed several other guys spotlock issues, post-install, by telling them to quit throwing pliers, scissors, and old jigheads next to their GPS puck. But yet my own personal units installations, BOTH OF THEM, are total pieces of $#!t. Go figure 🙄

I get it, Al. But jig fishing doesn't always mean "Slow hopping and dragging along the bottom". I fish jigs alot, and there's nothing slow and boring about it at all. 90+% of my bites come as the jig (usually a 1/2-3/4 ouncer) is initially falling. I might give it a hop/twitch/short drag if it reaches bottom without a bite..... but more often than not I burn it back in and immediately make another pitch. It's all about making an accurate pitch without a big splash.....then just let her fall on a semi-tight line. And honestly, most times, a fast fall where the fish has to decide QUICKLY whether to eat it or not, gets way more bites than what you might consider a slow-seductive fall like a 1/4-3/8 jig does.....or like a real crawdad would if scooting off a log (ain't none of us got the patience for that !) 😅 You can cover a lot of holding areas rather quickly with a heavy jig. You just have to drop it in the right spots and stay on your toes. 🙂 I bet your crankbaits/buzzbaits/spinnerbaits aren't moving faster than my jigs fall. 😉

Yeah it's frustrating. There's an old fuel tank out on the flat that washed in from the old Ship's Marine back in the late '90s. I've been catching fish off of it for YEARS and know exactly where it is and how to set-up and throw at it. I can sidescan it and set a waypoint in the bassboat......and according to mapping it is off a good 20-25 yards. I can DI it in my Flyfishing boat and set a waypoint WHILE SITTING RIGHT ON TOP OF IT...... and once again WAY OFF. But I can tri-angulate that sucker like I've been doing for years.....and bounce a bait off of it on the 2nd or 3rd cast everytime.

TH Marine, at one time, made a neoprene rigging cover with a Velcro closure. Alot of guys hated them because they only lasted a couple years in the elements.....but they weren't overly expensive to refresh periodically. I tried to search for one but it didn't pop right up....so they may have quit offering them. I hate the zippered ones, they look worse than bundling/covering with 4 pounds of electric tape, plus you can't cut to size without destroying the stupid zipper. And after a year the zipper doesn't work anymore anyway.....and you have to just cut it off when replacing control cables, fuel/oil hose, ect.

My take on murdich minnow
fishinwrench replied to trythisonemv's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
Looks like you used Cactus chenille/Eztaz for the head. You really need that head to be dense in order for the fly to "dance". The whole "push water" thing. This stuff here does the trick 👍 -

MK's Powerdrive Stow & Deploy is a PIA. Because I like my shaft no longer than necessary on my flyfishing boat.... I almost fall overboard if I'm not careful. I'd really like to redesign that function. -
Oh..... judging by the condition of his OLD prop......he'll be back. 👍😁

It takes 2 hacksaw blades. One in the saw to do the cutting, and another stuck down into the shaft to protect the wires going down it....so you don't chew them up. Make sure the shaft is horizontal during the cutting & drilling process so that carbon dust doesn't end up down in the armature. 👍 -
😅 Well.....I had a call this morning, an old dude had bought a new prop and asks how much I would charge to put it on. I said "oh hell, just swing by during lunch and I'll run out and swap your prop for ya, no charge". 😇 After his prop was installed, his bow light was fixed, and the ground wire for his trailer lights was reattached I had to say.... "Hey, listen, my Cup-O-Noodles is getting cold, so either GTFOH or unhitch this thing and fill out a work order" 🤬 100.00 says he called me an asshole as he pulled out of the driveway. 😂

I'm personally worthless with both, to be honest. FFS, for me, requires calm water and very little wind. Otherwise all of my attention has to be on keeping the target on the screen. SI distances and positions are wonky. I can set a waypoint and that SOB might be 50 yards off. It takes me too long to pinpoint stuff, so it's basically worthless in a tournament situation. I'm sure I could get better with more practice......but I don't have the motivation. I'm an old school 2D & Marker Bouy kinda guy. 🙄

They didn't, but there for about 2 years you couldn't get one unless it was a long shafted saltwater model (White). I shortened the shafts on several of them......not a hard job at all. But who wants a WHITE trolling motor? 🙄 -
As I recall the Lunker City Sluggo was the first soft jerkbait. Berkley followed up with the Power Slug. Then came Zoom with the original Fluke (which was a long-thin little thing).....that evolved into what is still the Fluke now. I'm not too sure that the Banjo minnow didn't pre-date them all.....but it wasn't what you'd consider a soft jerkbait. More of a modified Sassy shad.

You've been battling it for almost 30 years.....and I bet that wasn't all for free.....and now a "NEW SPECIALIST" is stepping in. Boy oh Boy 😵💫

They APPEAR from my yard to be right over my neighbors house, that is South of me, and heading SE......but let's face it, they are probably 200 miles one way or the other. I'm just relating to the path they always follow from my perspective. The first time we saw them I messaged a friend that has 2 kids at Whiteman and asked "what was fixin' to go down" ? 😅

Makes the 3rd time we've seen them here. Always on the same SE course, right over my neighbors house. I hope they are getting their money's worth out of that. 🙄

Probably easier at the head. It's been a while since I've done a MG, I expect them to be going bye-bye soon. -

You never seeing it doesn't mean that it isn't there. I guarantee that it is......and thanks to gravity you'll need to use it if you ever run it out of fuel. 👍 -
It's part of human anatomy , a gland, that nobody ever acknowledged or thought was important until sometime around 1994 when doctors and pharmacutical companies realized that they could make LOTS of money by tampering with it. A doctor might be able to spell it correctly.....but you still wouldn't be able to read it.

minn kota trolling motor---PRICE REDUCED SOLD
fishinwrench replied to sandbc's topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Insurance while traveling for anything boating/fishing related it is a deduction. The more miles I drive the less I get to deduct. If I don't bounce back & forth across the state every couple days, like alot of you idiots do, then the liability portion of my insurance is basically free. 👍 -

The only time the primer bulb should be tight & firm is when it is pumped up before the engine is started. Otherwise it should just be free of air, not necessarily under pressure. Electrical zip ties are not recommended for fuel or oil hose. The zip ties designed for hose connections are chemical and UV resistant and have special heads and a different locking mechanism. -
There's really no reason for tournament anglers to own a 60+k boat anymore. There's enough fish to win every event just right outside the bouys of the weigh-in area. You can access them just fine in a 14' Jon boat. Please Recycle ♻️

I have a buddy that runs a hydrowave constantly. I asked if he felt that it did any good, and he shrugs and says..."doesn't hurt". Constant draw on your cranking battery doesn't hurt? Ok 🤷♂️
